"Ah," Sethrian said, slightly disinterested as he carefully lined up the creme puffs, making sure their best side was facing front. Presentation was everything, of course. "I--" he started violently, smacking his head on the top of the display and spilling several creme puffs on the floor. "No--I. What? I don't..." Oh...God. What!? What was Xeiro asking him? He had only been half paying attention to the conversation and now Xiero seemed to be asking him something really suspicious. Sethrian cleared his throat, trying to regain his composure but finally gave up and dropped to the floor in a flustered daze to pick up the fallen creme puffs. He stood back up, grateful that his burning face and ears wouldn't be that noticeable. "Th-there's a caramel pecan tart that just came out. The chocolate-honey glaze is still cooling," he said, kicking himself for stumbling over his words. Well done Sethrian. How very articulate. I'm sure no one noticed your suave attempted to change the subject.

Thank the goddess, Sheila had straightened herself out. Vi wasn't sure what she would do if Tshila had gotten stuck in that position – oh, right, laugh because Tshila would totally deserve it for trying to take her guy from her. Xeiro would be hers right then if he didn't think he had a better choice, like some blonde bimbo circus freak who was still flirting with him, that little--! She kept her cool, however, as Xeiro's next words gave her heart a little flutter. She was feisty. Oh, she liked the sound of that a lot. All Tshila had was some 'bendy' joke, but she was the real winner in Xeiro's eyes! She smirked to herself and debated on inviting Xeiro back to her place right then since she so obviously won when another challenge had presented itself.
She looked at Seth with raised brows, hands on hips, “You don't what?” Nope, not letting this one slide. She preferred Xeiro over all, but if this guy thought there was something so wrong with her or Tshila, she wanted to know what it was! Especially if Xeiro was close to Seth or something. Guys had such a pack mentality – if one thought something, the rest tended to follow. “It's only a show. Are we not good enough for just that?”

Tshila watched as the other guy cleared his throat and stumbled over an answer to Vi. She just leaned in and whispered, "Don't be mean to him, I think he's shy!" Except she said it kind of loudly and the shy man shot her a dirty look as he ducked his head. "I'm not...shy," he said, ducking down to check the creme puffs. "I was merely surprised by the question. My boss likely knows I'm too busy to enjoy any sort of...performance regardless how fiesty or 'bendy' they may be." "Oooh," Tshila said, barely holding back a laugh. "Like, you know, busy with those tarts of yours? I met a tart at a club once--but a different kind than yours, I think. At the very least, she just kind of dressed bad and didn't sound at all delicious like a caramel-pecan tart. Not that you should judge anyone by how they dress and all? But she was wearing these totally ugly pants that were like three sizes too small? Not attractive. Anyway, Xeiro said your name was Seth?" "Sethrian," Seth said, leveling his gaze at the brunette because ugh, that blonde would just not shut up. "My name is Sethrian. And I didn't mean to come across as offensive. I'm sure that, if I had the time to watch one of your performances, I would find it quite entertaining." He had absolutely no idea what kind of performing either of them did but they were customers and he had to at least make a show of being friendly...ish. Pleasant at the very least. And he would rather interact with the person who wasn't going to explode his eardrum with non-stop chatter, if he was forced to choose. "So Xeiro!" Tshila said. "How long have you owned this place?"

Perhaps it was a bit rude of him to deliberately try to involve Seth when he had already known how withdrawn the man could be, but Xeiro pictured himself as helping. There was no harm in trying to force women upon employees was there? Well, maybe with the law, but he already knew how to wiggle his way out of sticky situations. He laughed at Seth's reaction and looked down at the man to see him scrambling for the lost creme puffs. He was about to make some stupid remark about just trying to share and be a good boss when Vi spoke up and proved herself to truly be the feisty one. "Now, now. Simmer down. There's no possible way he doesn't think your good enough." He was about to start helping Seth fix the rest of the display when Tshila started talking again. The girl talked so fast and bounced around from topic to topic so fast that he didn't think he could possibly keep up with her if he looked away for a second. Well, and the fact that he simply didn't want to look away didn't help much.
It wasn't until Sethrian began talking again that he chose to pipe in. "I think that performances are a very important part of life. No man is ever too busy for that. I could understand you needing to take the rest of the day off. It's a pretty slow day anyway. Hell, it's so slow that we could probably just close up shop." Sure, he wanted an excuse to get his own piece of action out of this, but that didn't mean that he also didn't want to watch Seth squirm now. He was smirking over at his employee when a question was directed at him completely off topic. He didn't even have to guess who it was, Miss Bendy Bones. How long had he owned the place? It took him a minute to think about it as it wasn't really something he dwelt on. Those earlier years on the island brought back some things he'd like to forget. "Uhh, I think right about 25 years. I bought it as soon as I moved here with the money my parents had left me and my two sisters."

Oh.. Oh, this was a tough one. On one hand, she had Xeiro and his beefy, manly arms and, on the other, she had some shy, pushover who would probably do whatever she asked and tell her she's pretty everyday like she always daydreamed about. But he was so.. young. Vi bit her lip as she flicked her eyes from one boy to the next, trying to decide on who to pick when her cell phone gave a quick trill and she had to cut into her thoughts to answer it. “I'm Vi,” She said quickly to Sethrian with a smile as she took her phone out and held it to her ear, “Maybe we'll see eachother again, but I have a call from – ugh.” Ed. She guessed he was about done with whatever business he had that didn't involve her. She tried not to roll her eyes or make that ugly disgusted face she tended towards when speaking to her brother, but it was too much to resist! So, with a quick wave to Sheila, Xeiro, and Sethrian, she started out of the bakery, forgetting whatever business she had there as she proceeded to look for a way to start another argument to help burn off some of that steam.

"O-okay Travis, it's your f-first day... so.. d-don't mess up." The young man gulped, peering into the dining room from the bakery's kitchen. There were customers who needed waiting on, and seeing as he was in fact, a waiter... well, it was his job to go and see what they needed. He let out a nervous sigh, forced on his best serving smile and went on to his first table.
The man would spent the next couple of hours working table by table, doing his best to get orders right, and more importantly, not drop any dishware. He managed to pull this of rather well, considering how nervous he was. Though Travis did wish he would have more time to introduce himself to his new co-workers. Honestly, he couldn't remember if he had even gotten a chance to get their names yet. He'd seen two so far, one being a dark-haired male, and the other had vibrant blue hair. Neither of which had taken much notice of him, yet.

Sethrian was busy with cupcake decorating in the kitchen, and wasn't paying much attention to the new guy. He was doing his job and he wasn't causing any issues so there was really no reason to bother with him--Seth had other things to do. Like pipe sour cream frosting on to a batch of buttery cupcakes that had just finished cooling. He was currently piping frosting with a petal tip, but wanted to do some variations to make them look fancier, so he had several other tips set aside, as well as a small ice cream scoop and bowl full of decorative sugar. He wasn't a personal fan of cupcakes that were overly frosted but since frosting was popular with most of their customers, he was trying to be generous without making them completely disgusting. As soon as he finished five or so with the petal tip, he switched to a star tip and started piping small dollops of frosting in a circular pattern, alternating between several colors, for a prettier pattern. When he was finished with that batch and another one that was smoothly frosted and dipped in decorative sugar, he arranged them all on a large, flat tray, and carried them out to the display case out front.

__________ Xeiro hadn't ever really felt what it was like to be a big time boss. It was such a weird feeling to know that he didn't have to do anything. The whole waitstaff was here to take care of customers, and Seth was handling the baking. He felt a little sad not feeling needed, but it was probably something that everyone had to go through. Maybe he should cut down on some jobs, though he didn't really know where. There was hardly anyone as it was. He slumped against a counter in the kitchen and tried to think of something that he should do with his time. Maybe he should go out and watch the new guy. That was something to do. He sighed and stood upright to walk out into the main area. He moved around Seth and found his way to another counter where he could slouch again. Though now he could spend his time looking at the new kid and possibly making sure that Lyra actually did some goddessdamn work for once. He glanced over at the display case to see if anything was running low. Sadly, it looked like everything was under control. He should've been happy that everything was going well, but something just felt so weird about being a manager type.
Watching everyone quickly became rather boring, and he decided that it would be a good idea to do some talking. The kid had been working pretty hard and deserved a break anyhow. He grabbed himself some coffee before he started to walk towards Travis. Once there, he placed his hand firmly on the young man's shoulder. "Why don't you take a break so we can talk? We are going to be seeing a lot of each other anyway. I like to get to know my workers." He dropped his hand from Travis' shoulder and smiled. "I'm Xeiro, in case you didn't know. And I'll be your boss for as long as you'd like to stay here, I guess." He chuckled and waved his hand at a nearby table to instruct the man to sit.

Lyra was unfortunately at work. Though, working with her dad did have it's advantages. For instance, being "at work" really meant that she was leaning over the counter and painting her nails. It wasn't as if she didn't want to work, though that was normally the case. Today there was a new guy hogging all of the customers, so she had a perfect excuse to just stand around. She occasionally looked up to make sure that she wasn't missing a perfect opportunity to watch him drop a plate or something. Sadly, that moment had never come and she was almost done painting her nails. There had to be something else for her to do. She finished off her last nail and stood up in time to watch Seth walk by. That had to be a message from the goddess herself!
She walked over to the display case and leaned back against the counter so she could get a good look at him. "Maybe you should stop playing in icing all the time. I mean, just look over there. That girl's pretty cute. Maybe she'd look at you if you took off this horrendous apron." She reached down to tug at the waist of the silly looking thing after first pointing out some floozy NPC. Really, who would ever think that aprons were attractive? Well, maybe one of those dumb young bimbos that came in after her dad, but they didn't really count. Seth wouldn't like trash like that. Probably. Oh, it wasn't like it mattered. She folded her arm back across her waist and watched as her dad approached the new guy. Yeah, as if she was going to waste her time on him. She wasn't sure that she could refrain from being rude, and he was doing so much of her work. It was really like avoiding him was doing him a favor. He should practically be praising her by this point.

Today was looking to be a bigger success than he had hoped, well, other than the blue-haired girl gawking at him as if she wanted him to mess up. The dark-haired man did his best not to let this bother him, and put his nose to the grindstone as it were. There were a few instances where he almost dropped a plate or two, but he had somehow managed to catch them. He knew, however, it was only a matter of time before his butterfingers got the better of him. So far, so good Travis. Keep it up.
A sudden presence behind him sent a chill down the man's spine, which only worsened when a hand firmly grasped his shoulder. Hastily suppressing the urge to jump, Travis turned to see his boss. Instantly relieved, the young waiter smiled in return, "That would be nice, sir, t-thank you." Admittedly, Travis couldn't help but feel a little intimidated by the guy. Xeiro was several inches taller than him, and not to mention, several sizes larger. Unlike him, Travis was lanky and thin; he couldn't help but feel a little inferior.
Following the man's instruction, Travis set down his serving tray on the table before pulling out the chair to seat himself. But, instead of his rear finding the chair like he planned, it missed entirely and the boy found himself falling to the floor. His ears turning red with embarrassment, Travis scrambled to get up, and quickly plopped himself into the chair. "S-sorry," he apologized sheepishly, doing his best to smile it off. "Nice to m-meet you though, I'm sure you already k-know I'm Travis. Thanks for letting me w-work here, I appreciate it."

"If I was concerned about a woman..." Sethrian paused to raise an eyebrow at Lyra. "Any woman, looking at me in an apron, I would have chosen another line of work," he told her as he lined up the cupcakes in the display case. "And unlike other people in the shop, and you in particular, I actually work while I'm here. Hence why I wear the apron. If you find it offensive, you're welcome to look elsewhere."He finished with the cupcakes, and set the metal tray on the counter as he slid the back of the display case shut and wiped said hands on his apron. Seth watched, slightly amused, as Xeiro gave the new guy the typical welcome (which had honestly felt more like hazing when it had been his turn to endure it.) The poor, nervous, bean pole. "Do me a favor and let someone else handle the food if a customer comes in. We don't need you contaminating it with your nails." He was just glad the smell of baked goods mostly covered up the smell of nail polish--and that most everyone on the island who was a potential customer, knew Lyra and probably didn't expect anything but the faint smell of nail polish when anywhere near her.

__________ Xeiro smiled and took a seat across from the young man. He noted the strange way that this boy talked, but couldn't quite tell if it was simply nerves or if he had some sort of a lisp. It probably wasn't good to start out their relationship by asking if he had some sort of a lisp. Could he get sued for that? Probably. Damn regulations. If he wanted to know some personal information about his employees, he should be allowed! It was his bakery! He should be able to make his own rules. He tried to ignore the boy falling on the floor, but it kind of further iterated the idea that it was probably just nerves. He took a drink of his coffee while he waited for the boy to scurry back up into his seat. He shook his head at the apology, because really, first days were rough. "Nah, no worries. About that or the job. I'm glad to have you here. You seem to be a very hard worker with a nice head on your shoulders. I'm sure this'll be great." He took another drink and smiled.
He glanced over his shoulder to look at Lyra and Seth and, while a little bothered with how close they were standing, he was happy that they seemed to not be paying much attention. "I thought I should probably give you somewhat of a head's up as you're new around here. I don't help people out very often, so you should be happy." He nodded his head and leaned back in his chair. "Seth, the guy over there, is a man of few words, but you will probably not like any of those words. He means well, though, and is a great baker. So, just ignore it. And the girl is my daughter. She's a bit rude. You'll have to forgive her, she gets that s**t from her b***h of a mother." He took a breath to try and stop himself before he began to ramble on about something that really didn't matter right now. "Just keep your head up and ignore whatever they say to you, okay? I'll usually be here if you ever need anything. Any questions?" He took another sip of his coffee before setting it down on the table and folding his hands in front of him.
______________________________________________
Lyra rolled her eyes at Seth's response. As if he wasn't interested with any of the many women that came through here. Who was he really trying to fool? He just didn't want to admit that the thing looked silly. She turned and leaned forward on the counter to get a better view of what exactly her father was doing over there. She offered a small wave when she caught him looking over in their direction, but turned her head back to Seth as he spoke again. She was sure that he was going to try his own little stab at her now as that was typically how these things went. Someone had to be witty first, then there was always the comeback. She planted her elbow on the counter and rested her head on her hand as she waited to see what glorious comment he had come up with. Honestly? Contaminating nails? She smirked up at him as she stood upright. Oh, he was just asking for it. "Contaminate with my nails? Really, Seth? Are my nails like cooties? You're such a baby!" She laughed and lifted her hands up towards his face.
She knew that the smell was already kind of bad from just their usual position at her sides, but she was practically immune to the smell after all of these years. "Watch ouuuuut, Seth! I might contaminate your faaaaace!"
