TABTAB This time it was Takashi with a sudden flux of thoughts: pain from the apprehension, worry that Saiyuri might overexert herself, and everything else that came with a possible understanding that might not have been so misunderstood. The moment she shot off orders, though, his mind tamed itself and focused on the tasks that would be soon at hand. Takashi was not just a fighter, but also an engineer too. He still had his grasp over the Katon element via the Path he had just used, so he would still be able to use his old tried and true methods to build with. As far as enemies being able to get into Sora now, so be it. Better they not try to sneak around and just try to come through the front door. Takashi was a little rusty and a good brawl would be just the thing to wake his muscles up. TABTAB"I'll have a look at the walls and see what I can do to make us less exposed. Not exactly sure how those generators work, if that's what was keeping the village afloat, but I can look at them afterward. See what I can do to get our wings back." It was true that Takashi was still new to Soragakure. Hell, he had only been within the village for a few minutes. But he was a quick learner when it came to how things worked and functioned, and it was that ability that made him able to keep up with his Mentor as far as craftsmanship went. Sure, things would probably have complicated designs, but maybe Takashi would be able to get everything back in order in a timely fashion, and maybe even have them built up better than before. TABTAB Takashi went to make his exit, but stopped when he passed the Sorakage. He turned to her and went to put his hand on her shoulder again. He stopped midway, then lowered it a bit, then tried again, and stopped again, all the while getting a little annoyed his brain and his body were having a mini civil war with each other. After a brief second or two of looking like a fool where no one could see him, he decided to simply leave it alone, and touched Saiyuri's mind. You stopped an entire freakin' village from crashing into the ground, and you staved off a madman from destroying it. You got nothing to apologize for.

However he was snapped from his thoughts when the kage herself spoke within his mind complementing him and thanking him personally. He stood up straight with pride now he had to show the world their power, it was no longer a matter of choice but a matter of honor. He quickly followed after his teamate to begin the mission.

Saiyuri watched the younglings go, a pensive look on her face. These past few hours had been so hectic and Saiyuri really wanted a break. Unfortunately the mind of a Mayu was never at rest. Kaisen had duped her, knowing exactly how this would play out. But he had not done it alone. Kaisen had inside help, one of which had a mind so caved in it was impossible to retrieve. Saiyuri assumed there was more to the scene, there had to have been a mole. The chain and generators were not common knowledge, someone who had wormed their way into the trust of the village had betrayed them. Saiyuri cast her gaze around her, viewing each and every face that was assembled. Most of the ninja force had passed through here on their way to retrieve orders. Just from looking Saiya could not tell who it had been. She could delve into the thoughts and memories of the individual shinobi in her village, but that could take hours. As it was now they were reacting and not on the offensive. There had to be a trail. Suddenly a light bulb turned on in Saiyuri's mind.
Takashi's words stole her attentions for a moment and she smiled softly. "Thank you Takashi, but sometimes our best is just not good enough." Saiya said, pushing off of the rubble she had been sitting on. She reached out to Takashi and lightly gripped his arm; a sign of affection. Saiyuri began to walk away from the area, lightly scanning the thoughts around her. It was more of just creating white noise for herself, she was not truly intent on listening to others right now. "Takashi, I need you to help me. There is no way Kaiser knew about the chain and generator, someone had to have told him. I have our first lead, but I am not yet ready to fight." Saiyuri needed a bruiser to stand in the front line. She could handle the interrogatng, but her chakra was still dangerusly low. Unfortunately for her there was no time to rest. Saiyuri took off running, eventually jumping and attaching herself to the skylines. She directed herself to the place where she had found the boy trying to detonate the tags on the chain. "Earlier today I stopped a boy from destroying the chain, but it had been a distraction." Saiyuri suppressed her emotions from leaking through but felt incredibly stupid for having let such a thing happen. "He was not even a ninja, someone had given inside information. The maintenance tunnels are like mazes. I am going to assume this boy had been given a map, and very specific information as to how to destroy the chain. Three hundred and eighty six tags were removed from the chain, he must have had help. Not only that but the maintenance tunnels are riddled with danger. There are bursted pipes, random drop offs, rusted metals and more. Each and every entrance is supposed to be guraded. These guards are on shifts of nine hours each, switching only when their replacement is physically there." Saiyuri said, reciting information from her photographic mind. Being a Mayu had its perks, most of which was an intelligent mind so vast that it was easy to get lost in. After a moment of silence Saiyuri disengaged from the rail and allowed herself to drop to the ground. When she landed she stumbled for a moment before regaining her footing. She seriously was in no condition for adventuring.
From memory Saiyuri located the hidden entrance of the maintenance tunnel. It was a hatch surrounded by garbage and the detritus of the citizens of Soragakure. Saiyuri stopped and looked around, aware that the only living, human minds around were those of Takashi and herself. "There should be a guard around here. Let's find him." She said, motionin to one side of the alleyway. Saiya herself began to poke around, using her hands to remove some of the trash. Normally she would use telekinetic fields to shift a load of stuff at once, but she just did not have the energy for that. As she searched, Saiyuri let her mind wander. She allowed the link to remain, and did not shield her thoughts from her long time friend. Takashi deserved to know what was going on with her. She would never try to hide her true status from not only a friend, but a soldier who agreed to serve under her, to fight by her side until the end.
Saiyuri's thoughts slowly drifted away from what she was doing. She was of course paying attention while running hundreds of scenarios in her head, but she was able to separate her thoughts while still functioning just fine. The faces of her genin flashed before her, accompanied by a lingering feeling of worry. Saiya had sent her own cousin Xanatos on a mission that may very well result in him getting hurt, or worse; dying. After the destruction of Konoha, the Mayu numbers dwindled to dangerously low numbers. Much of Saiyuri's own family had died, and she had never felt so alone. There had been a time when Saiya could walk the streets of the leaf village and brush minds with all of her kin, sharing feelings, thoughts, and images in that brief moment of contact. Now the world seemed so barren, so devoid of the rich colors of a Mayu's mind. Xanatos was very important to Saiyuri, she did not want to see harm come to him. Yet she knew he would never chose a life of peace. Xanatos wanted to help the world, and the anger inside of him will never allow him to life a normal life. Saiyuri had accepted this and chose to mentor him. Hopefully she would be able to guide him in his life. Saiya lifted another box and caught the flash of an object. She bent down and reached for it. The moment her fingers brushed the steel she realized what it was; a hita-ate from Soragakure. Saiyuri's fingers grasped around the band and she pulled it, mentally sharing the image with Takashi. Anger and sorrow flashed through her mind. "We need to find the body. This shinoi deserves to be properly remembered for what they did for this village." Saiyuri tied the headand around her belt and continued searching.
This time her mind traveled to softer things. She recalled the smell of a flower in her office and could even remember the most minute details. A Mayu was both blessed and cursed with the ability to remember every single thing that ever happened to them during their cognitive years. Saiyuri could bring to mind the exact outfit she had been wearing when Takashi, Nakaya, and herself had been repairing a hospital after the Kyuubi attacked Konoha again. A warm feeling woud spread through the link as Nakaya's face came into her mind. In those days, they had all been more than friends. Saiyuri had never felt a connection with people like that again. With the death of Nakaya and assumed death of Takashi she had been broken. The very instant that thought came to mind Saiya tossed it out, replacing it instead with the memory of her becoming Soragakure. She had been out on a mission with Xanatos and John Letroy, another fellow Mayu. Upon her return the village had been in such disarray. Kaisen had disappeared and Saiyuri had a summons from the council. She could recall her fear and anxiety as she approached the council chambers, the feelings of reluctance purveying her body. Much to her dismay the council had chosen her to be the next leader of this village, knowing full well that no one else was qualified. Saiyuri had proposed the council themselves lead the village in a sort of rebuplic, but they had refused. The Kage needed to be deferred to in times of crises, and this was one of them. Saiyuri had assumed the position with little joy.

TABTAB"It's not about doing our best. It's about just doing it. Period. And we're the best at doing what is needed when it counts." Takashi wiggled his nose and smirked. Their antics were legendary back in the day. When she grabbed his arm, his cheeks grew red for a moment, then shook the blush off. Freaking hormones, they were tame back when he had less power. Something about finally waking up the dragon Shion had been prepping him for. He managed to snap back to reality just in time to hear Saiyuri's explanation about the generator. She needed muscle? Well duh Takashi would be her first choice. He found it odd that Saiyuri had changed her position from a ranged style to a CQC style of combat, almost like he missed something important that happened to her and now was too late to see it unfold as he would have preferred. However, Takashi had always, from day one, been a fisticuffs person and was always molding his body to physical perfection. His training revolved around such measures, and it helped that he preferred just doing things straight up. TABTAB Takashi followed Saiyuri along the skyline, though managed to place his body in such a way that Saiyuri's arm was around Takashi's neck and shoulders to use as a makeshift crutch. She could resist and hate him for doing it later, as this was not about her showing herself to be weak or anything of that nature. It was clear she wanted to move quickly, and this was the best way to make sure she did not lag with her speed. When Saiyuri was done with the rundown, Takashi's mind kicked into its proper gear and linked with Saiyuri as when his mind processed and his body was moving, talking was difficult. Inside job? Not obvious, but a highly probable answer. As for the guards, that one was an easy one: everyone has to take a leak, or grab a bite to eat. Faking such a need would give the hole required to slip in unnoticed. Hundreds of possibilities arose in his mind that a kid could exploit to sneak in or allow an insider to slip a kid inside. Even the faintest distraction could do it, and with the amount of planning it seemed this assault used to create, every one of those possibilities were noted and reviewed by the enemy. Takashi was not as 'smart' as Saiyuri or another number of shinobi, because that was not how his mind worked. He thought tactically rather than through broad information. He drew from experience and view points rather than flat out numbers and calculations. TABTAB When Saiyuri derailed, Takashi followed in suite, and managed to stabilize her somewhat when she stumbled. No need to say anything, they probably both knew how the short conversation would go. As they sifted through the alley, Takashi was still linked with Saiyuri, and with it came both a warm feeling and... not so warm feelings. When she thought of Nakaya, his left shoulder pinged with pain. A sharp pain, like a nail had been shot right through to the joint bones. He immediately snapped from Saiyuri's mind and stumbled backward and landed on a bag of some sort. The back of his head hit the wall, but he did not feel it. He gripped his shoulder as more pings of pain shot through his shoulder, like more nails going straight through the bones. He had a habit of carrying old wounds from near death.... no... death situations. The first time was his back that still carried a rather large scar. Now it was his arm. He had managed, at the time, to not think about it, because he knew what it would have done. His adrenaline allowed him to focus only on the fight at hand and ignore completely the fact that his arm had been ripped off; a self-inflicted wound necessary to escape from the grasp of the enemy and continue with the final fight. What followed was even worse. The screams, the panic, and the face of Death itself. But he was a fighter and was about to fight through the pain the first time. He was able to do so now too. If Saiyuri tried to connect with his mind, he would use his 'mist technique' to ward off her attempts. Again, she could hate him later, but he would not let her suffer from this. His fingers dug into the skin, almost breaking it before the pain slowly subsided. His breathing changed throughout the entire ordeal: shaky to rapid to a forced calm. "B... body... find it... got it... any ideas?" He would allow Saiyuri back into his mind again freely, though what had just happened was off limits, and he could not look her in the eyes at the current moment, instead just looking forward at nothing. 815

Saiyuri had been busy focusing on about twenty three different things while she was digging around the place. She had not realized what was going on with Takashi until she turned and saw him sitting down on a bag of trash. He looked shaken and appeared more ravaged than just a moment ago. Saiya frowned and brought to mind a very calming and serene feeling. It was from a time so long ago Saiyuri had almost forgotten it had existed. It was a a memory of Saiyuri's old mentor, Deil. He had been the one to show her just how a Mayu worked and helped her control the mental links with others. As a child being a Mayu was tough. Tapping into the minds of others was something they could not easily control. They were subject to every thought, every feeling, and every image that went through a person's mind. It was exhausting and caused many young Mayu to become introverts. Saiyuri had not been an exception. When Deil found out about this he began to visit her every day, helping her put a leash on this ability. He had been the one to show her how to defend her mind from others, a method that Saiya used to this day.
Her connection with Deil was very special, he was almost a father figure to Saiya. She had pulled from that connection and pushed that feeling onto Takashi. It would quell his inner storm and calm him. Saiyuri needed him to have a clear head for this. "Each and every guard of these maintenance hatches are sensors. They are specifically tailored to defending a location and stopping an assault before it happens. This means that whoever overpowered the guard was either a normal human being, or able to suppress their own chakra. The probability of a single non-ninja overpowering someone as such is too low to be a factor. It was probably a group of people, or at least a stronger ninja. I found the guard's headband, which suggests there was a struggle. Look for any signs of an altercation, be it natural or not." This was not exactly a popular part of Soragakure. There were many derelict areas of Soragakure, completely devoid of human life. This was one of them.
Had there been a battle with chakra, there were bound to be marks. Fire and lightning left scorches. Earth techniques warped the area, and it had not rained in exactly nintey three hours, meaning any source of water was unnatural. The alleyway was small enough that a battle with weapons would leave marks. All they had to do was collect the facts and put them together. Saiyuri looked down at the headband and began to analyze it. The left side of the cloth was torn, the fabric looking as if it had been ripped apart. The steel itself was slightly scratched, leaving little in terms of clues. Saiyuri closed her eyes and mentally sighed, annoyed at how long this was taking. Every second they wasted was a second longer for the culprit to get away.

TABTAB Takashi grunted and cursed at himself softly as he got up in a wobble. Get off your a** and focus. He patted his cheeks for a moment then began to scan the area. He looked for the minute details, anything to suggest a fight, be it jutsu based or not. Then he spotted something interesting. on a hunch, he scanned to see if anything that looked like it had been disturbed to moved before they got there. A garbage can that laid on the ground looked like it had gone through hell. Upon further following the lead, a rather musty, grim covered circular area was found a good distance away. The can stood there, which meant it had been knocked over by something. Takashi crouched then began to dig through debris near the grime until he got to the wall itself. It had marks, burn marks. But they were not the same kind of marks that would be caused by a katon technique. TABTAB"Saiya, over here." He rubbed his hand on the marks. The wall had been charred by something, and Takashi thought he knew what it was. "The person we're looking for uses explosives. See these marks? They weren't done by a fire technique, otherwise there would be evidence of a body... like a silhouette. The nature of whatever did this was too controlled to not have effected more of the area. Whoever did this knew what he or she was doing and had the accuracy needed to keep themselves invisible to others. I'm guessing an explosive tag trap or a close-ranged bombing. I'm guessing we'll find the same evidence on the otherside too." Takashi got up from his crouched position and dusted himself off. "It's too calm to have been made of highly volatile material, which means it was a weak explosive; a tool specifically designed for close-ranged work and to be used for this target alone." He crossed his arms and began to scan the rest of the wall and debris to see if anything else could tell him something actually useful. "My guess is that the one who set this up was a professional. Maybe not the one that got in, but that would mean we got more than one person to track down that was in the village. The annoying part is that I don't see any remains of the explosive." He looked around where he was standing, then widened his view. "No fragments or pieces of whatever did this." He still stood by his position that this was not the work of a jutsu, but this was getting annoying. 815

Saiyuri had been standing still wracking her brains to try and think of a way this would have worked. She had heard of ninja who could generate explosions from their hands or even after having transferred their chakra to a source. Any number of people could produce fire from their bodies and many fire-related techniques could cause a controlled explosion. There was the dust element that literally oblitered anything it came in contact with, but there would be greater devastation if that was the case. Takashi's call broke her out of her trance and pulled her attention to what he was looking at. His words dismayed her; if they were searching for something that left no trace how on earth were they going to find a lead? Saiyuri absentmindedly ran her finger along the headband she had picked up and paused. Something had bumped her finger where there should only be indentations. Saiyuri ripped the band from her belt and raised it to her eyes, gazing intently at it.
A faint smile touched her face as she moved over to Takashi, pointing at the fragment of some sort of metal that had embedded itself in the band. That confirmed it; man-made explosives. This was something they could trace. "I have an idea, I think I know how we can find out who created this device. If we can find that person then I will force the information out of them." Saiya said, already moving away. At some point in her past the thought of having to interrogate someone would have dismayed her. But this Saiyuri was all about busines and knew there was no room for compassion and mercy. "Soragakure is the world's leading manufacturer when it comes to almost any sort of contraption. Tsukigakure holds some of the greatest minds for jutsu creation, and once Yukigakure had the best smiths for weaponry and armor. I believe this fragment is a piece of some explosive, like you said. If that is the case then there are only a small amount of people who have permission to create any sort of violent invention. All fine metals are kept under constant surveilance within the village, and if any were stolen I would have heard about it. There are eighteen possible shops that something like that could have been purchased or created. We'll start there." Saiyuri said, leaving the alleyway behind. She tossed the headband to Takashi, already having the exact image, likeness, and shape of the fragment locked in her brain. Saiyuri jumped upward and propelled herself higher via a boost from her telekinetic powers. She flipped in the air and landed expertly on the skylines, using them to head to the Downtown district. She had already made up the fact that she would split up in order to cover the shops faster. Nine for herself, and nine for Takashi. She would keep the mental link up in case either of them found anything. All they had to do was think to the other and she was sure there would be little delay to them actually getting to each other. xxxxx Xanatos stood in front of the walls of the fallen gates of Sora. The amount of rubble and unearthed roots from the movement of the village itself was only a reminder of his resolve to seek revenge. Sure, Sora would rise once again, this was true, but the damage had already been done. Deep within the crevices of Xanatos' mind, the fallen Sora and it's memory would continue to stand, whether it has already risen again or not. Xanatos was soon surrounded by multiple villagers, rescued hostages, and onlookers as they congratulated and became merry for their freedom. Xanatos was more pained because of the noise rather than anything else, he enjoyed the praise though and decided to unlink himself from the mental connection between him, Nariomi, and Eirlys. The mission was a success and the team came back, all members alive, no hostages killed, etc. Now, Xanatos needed some R&R, if only one day to rest and contemplate the next phase of action. Xanatos was planning on going on another mission, probably on his own next time to work on his own flaws.
____________________THE PAIN, THE HATRED, THE DESTRUCTION____________________
Saiyuri solemnly stared at the ruins of the Elevator. What had once been a magnificent scientific marvel now lay in ruins, shattered and broken. She knelt to the ground and picked up a bent gear, cradling it in her hands as if it was an egg. Saiya's face was impassive, but her mind was in a whir. How had she let the village come to this? She had not been strong enough and the people paid the blood price. But Saiyuri was still here. She had to live with the ghosts and revenants of those who passed in fear and pain. At night she often woke to the sounds of screaming. The agony and terror pressed against her mind and choked out all cohesive thoughts. It was those nights Saiya loathed the most. The ones where she could not get away from her inner demons. As of late she had taken to walking the streets at night, a silent guardian constantly on watch. It had taken its toll mentally and physically, but no one knew. Conceal, do not feel; these were the mantras Saiyuri repeated to herself everyday. She placed the gear on the ground carefully as one would do a baby before rising to her feet. Alice would be here soon, there was no need to let her see just how damaged she actually was.

Alice could still feel the thoughts that clouded Sayuri’s mind, but why? Maybe she left her mental facet on? She seemed troubled to say the least. Emotions stirred within her; sadness, regret, affliction. Alice could relate to that. Perhaps not to the same extent, but in a similar way. She herself had to battle through emotions of the same persuasion. It wasn’t easy, and sometimes you just needed a friend. Feeling the sudden urge comfort her leader, Alice placed a hand on the woman’s shoulder, and smiled sincerely. “It’s not your fault, you know?” It was more of a statement than a question. The hardships of dealing with the aftermath of a war were just as hard as fighting in it. Many could not take such a burden, of carrying the responsibility on your shoulders. Many would succumb to the weight of the grief and misery. Alice wasn’t so sure that she was strong enough to remain stable, if in her situation. “Just remember that.”
A thick, white smoke rolled along the ground as it flooded the area around the gates. The guard would take notice and ready themselves for an attack that they'd never encounter. The smoke was a distraction as well as a medium for Sukōchi to traverse into enemy territory unseen. While the guards were totally distracted by the smoke, Sukōchi's body formed on the other side of the gates by materializing out of the smoke. After assuming his human form, he stepped lightly through into the village, leaving the guards dazed and confused.
