I didn't cry over Nephrite, either. I thought it was sad, but honestly, I didn't feel that connected to him. I cried over Sapphire/Saphir, though.

Yep, in the manga and in the anime. In the manga rather gruesomely, may I add.

I was really upset when I read the manga and saw the fates of those of the Black Moon Clan. The new anime will probably follow that path, but it will make me sad.
It was implied in the musicals that "Nemesis would be reborn." I hope that meant that Sapphire would come back to life after Dimande/Diamond went through the Time Gate, presumably to do things over.
That's just my take on things, though.
