Financially it's a genius move for nintendo, $5 per year isn't a dent to most, if not all of us financially, but they have the ability to make millions off of the system.

From an IT standpoint the data will be very easy to maintain, 3000 pokemon amounts to about half a MB, while the volume of the data may make it seem tedious, a fault check program will handle the bulk of the load.

Designing the software will have come very cheap since all they really need to do is strip the existing software down to the storage system and add boxes. So minimal cost there.

They don't have to create a dedicated server since by my calculations at most they only have to store about 4 GB of data, so they can use their DLC cloud servers which are already running and at least from the consumer side running flawlessly.

But from an income perspective, if only 1 million people use the system globally that's $5 million a year annually, and if every one on the PLANET were to use the system that would be about 35 billion and that's to maintain a relatively small amount of data at 4 GB. Compare that to something like Google Drive which allows storage of up to 15 GB of data for FREE.

That's some savvy business thinking right there.

5 dollars is a fair price to ask for us to have access to their servers (cloud or not) where most game company's charge you a monthly fee to have access to play on them. Since it looks Soul has a good understanding of the financial benefit from this I take it he also knows that this will be Nintendo's test model. we may or may not see this feature in future generations of the games.

I agree totally, this is a way for Nintendo to test the viability of cloud servers, whether it's back-up save files, or maybe even for games like harvest moon, where data can "live" on the cloud with others on the server interacting with your data.

The thing with the price is it's a slippery slope, a one time $5 fee for an app that can do the same thing would still net a good profit, but if for every game they include cloud storage they could conceivably charge $5 a year for each game, eventually that's going to rack up.

In Pokemon News:

Each game (X/Y) will have their own mewtwo mega evo, MewtwoX, and MewtwoY. MewtwoY is the one we've already seen, and the mega stone Mewtwonite Y is a Pokemon Y exclusive, While MewtwoX needs the mega stone Mewtwonite X (X exclusive), is Psychic/Fighting and has the ability Steadfast.

They've also shown a new Megamon: Mega Garchomp, which has the ability Sand Force

The mid Evos of the starters have been announced, no localization of names have been announced yet, but the Chespin Evo learns Mudshot, the fennekin evo learns psyshock, and the Froakie evo learns Bounce. There have been no secondary typing announced as of yet.

Two Fossil pokemon have also been shown, again no localization, one is a Rock/Dragon, the first of that typing if I'm not mistaken, and is the T-rex pokemon. It has the ability Hard Jaw which boosts bite type moves. The other fossil is a brontosauros pokemon with the typing of Rock/Ice. It has the ability Freeze Skin which gives normal type moves an Ice typing.

There is the generational normal type dog, a poodle, that you can give various hair styles and even change the fur colors. It has the ability Fur Coat which reduces physical damage.

A new cat pokemon with distinct gender differences will also have movepool differences. The male has more support moves, while the female has more offensive moves.

A possible Litleo evolution was also leaked by IGN, though it hasn't been officially confirmed. It's name is Pyroar, and while it's not for sure whether this is a Litleo evo or not, it seems likely.

They've also finally released a type chart, which remains essentially the same, except for Steel which has lost it's resistance to Ghost and Dark.

It also shows how Fairy will effect the type chart. Fairy is SE against Dragon, Dark and Fighting. It's NVE against Fire, Poison, and Steel. Poison and Steel are SE against fairy types, while Fighting Dark and Bug are NVE against them and Fairy DOES have the rumored immunity to Dragon type moves.

Moo.
From what I have been reading on Serebii, mega evolutions for certain pokemon require different items. Since there are two new forms of mewtwo, Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. Also there is a female version of pyroar. So far I am rather excited to see what else is in the new games.

I kinda hope that mega stones become events and giveaways
Like how you can only get Blazekinite through the event

The mega stones are actually given to you by in game events. Expect for a couple in which you have to buy or find them.

It is as soul said, its the only one right now. You can find the majority in game, with the exception of Blazekinite.
