(( Yay you're back! <3 And it's not bad ^-^ ))
Belle couldn't help but let her lips curl into a smile hearing Daren mention that cars had upgraded quite a bit. She didn't have a brand new car, but it definitely wasn't an old car either. Just a used car that she could afford, nothing fancy. They drove in silence for a minute or so before Daren spoke again, his words making her tighten her grip on the steering wheel and be forced to taking slower breaths. "Thanks Daren." she said gently, glancing at him before looking back to the road. "But not everyone has a gruesome past." she muttered quietly under her breath to herself, not loud enough for him to hear. For some reason, that comment bothered her a bit. If he knew anything about how horrible her past was, he would've never said that. She didn't know anyone who had suffered as much as she did as a child. Falling silent, her body relaxed slowly as she drove the rest of the way home, parking in front of her house.
She climbed out of her car and shut the car door behind her, swinging her backpack over her shoulder as she made her way to the front door. Unlocking it, she stepped inside, waiting for Daren before she shut the door and locked it behind her. As the door clicked shut, the sound of skidding paws across the floor came from upstairs and Belle turned around, laughing before it even happened. Nikita came flying down the stairs and stopped right in front of Daren before jumping up and placing her paws on his shoulders, licking his face before letting go and falling back down on the floor, woofing at him, her tail wagging quickly. Belle just stood there leaning against the door and giggling at her dog's ridiculousness.

Daren smiled brightly when he saw the dog. "Hey, Nikki," he greeted, petting her head when she jumped up. "I missed you too," He added. He looked around, surprised that everything looked the same despite the fight. Then he went to sit on the couch. "So... what're we gonna do now since we're stuck in a house?" He asked curiously.

Belle watched with a gentle smile as Daren greeted Nikita. She walked past the both of them and into the kitchen, filling Nikki's food bowl and hearing the dog come bounding in the kitchen, obviously hungry. It was a bit past her dinner time, so she was definitely happy to be eating. "Well, right now, I'm thinking that it's time for some dinner." she said, turning to him with a smile. "However, I'm not staying cooped up in this house Daren. I have responsibilities and bills to pay, I'll be sticking with my schedule, just being cautious and such." she said nonchalantly, turning back away from him and opening up the fridge to figure something out for dinner. She wasn't sure how he would react to her wanting to carry on with her normal life despite the threat of demons, but she wasn't going to be scared into hiding out in her house. That simply wasn't something she would allow to happen.

Daren blinked and sighed. "Then I'll be watching," He muttered. She wasn't making it easy on him at all. He'd stay farther away at times since he was living with her. "I mean, you won't know I'm there," He promised. "But you're not the only one with a job to do," He added. Then he winced and rubbed his head,

Belle pulled out some frozen chicken strips from the freezer, some alfredo sauce from the fridge, and set them on the counter. She then got a pot out and filled it with water, setting it on the stove top to start boiling. "Pasta with alfredo and chicken sound good?" she asked, glancing back at him before she started getting the chicken strips cut up and putting them in a skillet to cook. "I know you do Daren, I just can't be that person who hides from something just because it's scary, I won't do that again. I'm sorry if that makes this a lot harder for you. I don't exactly like it either." she said gently, stirring around the strips of chicken in the pan before turning back to face him again just in time to see him wince and rub his head. Furrowing her brow slightly with concern, she walked over to him, placing a hand on his arm lightly.
"Come on, you should sit down." she said gently, leading him over to the kitchen table and helping him sit down. She smiled lightly at him for a moment before returning to her cooking, stirring up the chicken some more. "Do you need water or pain killers or ice or anything?" she asked genuinely, glancing over at him as she cooked.

Daren nodded to her question of food. He watched her cook, figuring he should learn himself. He chuckled. "Maybe I need a challenge," He told her, letting her lead him to the table. He just shook his head. "I'm fine. It was just a little thing," He replied to her question with an honest smile. He liked the smell of the chicken already. It smelled good and she had just started cooking. "Ahhh, I can't wait to eat real food," He said. "Even one day with fast food seems bad after eating real food, ya know?" He said.

Belle could only smile when Daren chuckled and mentioned needing a challenge. She was glad he was at least a positive person - like she tended to be. She couldn't handle people who were negative all the time, it just upset her. When he responded to her question about needing anything for his head, she nodded, saying "Alright, but you're getting lots of rest tonight, bed right after dinner." She turned to him with a wide grin as she said this, giggling slightly and biting her lip before she turned back around to face the stove. She felt like she sounded like his mother or something and she found that pretty amusing. A minute or so later, she drained the pasta and turned off the pot of sauce since it was warm enough. As she was returning the drained pasta back to the pot and stirring in the chicken and alfredo, she said "Ya, I know what you mean - Fast food every once in a while is nice, too much is disgusting." Finishing stirring the food up, she divided it onto two plates, his holding much more than her own. Carrying it over to the table, she set his plate in front of him and her's down before getting them both a glass of water and silverware and setting that down as well. "There's a little left in the stove too if that's not enough." she added as she sat herself down at the table with a small smile, picking up her fork to eat.

Daren chuckled. "You sound like mom," He noted, not realizing that he had just confirmed her thoughts. He watched her with a small grin. "You know that you're handling this really well?" He asked, propping his chin on his hand when they got their food. "I like that," He added. He looked down at the food and could have sworn he was going to start drooling. "Nah, this is plenty. Trust me," He told her, picking up his fork and started to dig in. Then he stopped. "Do you say grace before you eat?" He asked awkwardly. He was a former angel, so he didn't really know how people did it. The number of people that actually did it had dwindled drastically, actually.

Belle laughed gently when Daren said she sounded like mom, grinning a bit since that was exactly what she had been thinking. As she sat down at the table, Nikki came over and plopped herself down on the floor next to her chair, resting her head in her paws comfortably. The poor dog had obviously been pacing around worried sick after they had left so abruptly, so she was exhausted. When Daren mentioned that she was handling this all well, her eyes drifted back up from Nikki to Daren's face and she smiled softly. "I'm honestly just done with being afraid." she said simply, like it was no big deal, and stuck her fork into a piece of chicken on her plate, twirling it to get the strands of pasta as well. When Daren mentioned grace however, Belle kind of stopped the fork at her mouth, looking down at the table before glancing up at her angel friend. "Um, no, actually. I lost faith a while ago." she said carefully, not quite sure how he would react to that. She wasn't even sure how she had been chosen to be protected by an angel in the first place - she may be a good person, but she didn't have an ounce of faith in God. He didn't protect her when she was younger, no matter how much she prayed, so it wasn't hard for her to lose faith. Popping her bite of food in her mouth and chewing, she watched Daren, awaiting his reaction.

Daren blinked. "Really?" He asked, seeming shocked that she didn't believe. "But ya know He's real now, right? After all, I didn't get myself from how ever far away Heaven is," He said. "Then again, I don't blame you. Not if your past is as bad as Jerome makes it out to be. I'm a bit bitter towards him too," He said, frowning as he ate. "What kind of guy just lets a kid grow up watching his mother wither away all his life, and then when I die, He makes her perfectly well again. That's bullshit," Daren murmured, shaking his head. He twitched and rubbed his back when a sharp pain crossed where his wings used to be. "Well, it's true," He said, looking up at the ceiling with a scowl. He shook it off. "It's cool. I mean, He'd like it, but after what He put you through, I don't even have the nerve to push it," He finished. He ate more food. "This is really good," He murmured, looking down on the plate. "I really don't get it. If He wanted people to believe, he'd stop letting all this crap happen. Like school shootings. No one needs that. All he does is put people through Hell," He said. Part of his eyes said he was stuck in a memory. He had gone through Hell in that prisoner camp. Belle had been through Hell with her past.

(( I'm actually agnostic so yeaa haha ))
Belle just kind of shrugged a bit and swallowed her food when Daren questioned "Really?", not having a lot more to say on the topic. She had believed so much in religion and God and angels and the whole nine yards when she was a kid, but it never got her anywhere. She learned she was much better off relying only on herself, and not praying to some God who never even listened. "I never said I didn't believe in him. Having faith in God and believing he's out there are two different things." she said quietly, taking another bite of her food. She just listened and ate her food as Daren talked about how he didn't blame her though, for not having faith in him after everything she'd been through. She was glad he wasn't going to try to force her to have faith, because that simply wasn't a step she was ready to take right now. Even though there was an angel sitting right next to her.
"I really don't get it either. I mean, when I was little, I would always tell myself that there had to be a reason he wasn't helping me. Like maybe he was dealing with more important things, like death and disease. I mean, he can't do everything all the time. But as I got older, I lost all hope. I prayed ever single day Daren, at least once a day, for him to make it all stop. For years. And I just, I lost faith." she said, stopping a bit abruptly to collect herself and twirling her food around on her plate. She was obviously a bit bothered by this conversation, although she was trying very hard not to be. She was usually better at talking about these sorts of things without letting anyone know her true feelings, but she had so many emotions rattling around inside of her today that it was just too much to take.

Daren listened to her story with a frown. Then he smiled in understanding. "I had lost faith until the day I died," He confessed. "I always wondered 'Why is He making mom so sick? Why's he taking her ability to have fun with me away?' then I went to war. 'Why is he letting all of my friends die? More importantly, why is it happening in front of me?' Then I got captured and of course it only got worse...." He told her with a small sigh. "Trust me when I say He always as an eye out for you. He puts us through Hell on earth to lead us somewhere better. It makes us stronger, or it kills us. In your case... it made you stronger. He's there, just not how you want him to be," He muttered, eating a piece of chicken. "Yo, he sent you an amazzziingggg guy like me. How can be that bad?" Daren asked in a teasing tone.
((Ugh, this is pretty much the same as what I just said. lmao. Didn't realize that until now... um... just... like... yeah. .-.))
