I just got a bunch of Italian cookies for my christmas present. Pignoli and Svoyatelle! (no idea how they're really spelled)

We make fruit pies every year for Christmas dinner. Mmm, cherry and apple, the perennial classics.
We also make homemade cookies, though the numbers become lower every year.
But my favorite holiday desert is this: lime sherbert floating in cranberry juice. It's a Christmas tradition. 3nodding

Dad always makes a Christmas cake, but I'm not a huge fan of glace fruit so I never get super excited about it. Mum usually bakes biscuits but she's kind of moved away from my favourites (German style biscuits like lebkuchen, pfeffernusse and gingerbread) to more Italian biscuits (amaretti, etc).
Now that I think about it, usually I am the hugest dessert person but for Christmas, it's all about the main meal. 3nodding

my grandma used to make yummy suet pudding, it was a lot like plum pudding, round and bouncy and hot, with a syrupy sauce of spiced butter and sugar.
i miss her.
one great aunt made Italian pizzelle cookies http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IaiG-bt0IwI/TOcBREeGnDI/AAAAAAAAClY/B4hoh9vX2eY/s320/DSC_00464661.JPG and German pfeffernusse http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_cfsT733VnQU/SuIKYyzZCeI/AAAAAAAADIY/O3CYndY5jDk/s400/PICT6869.JPG

I love pizzelles. I haven't had one in years.
Colorado is kind of empty in terms of Italian food. Desserts in general are kind of slim pickings.
