(Offensive use) As long as she is in the vicinity of her spilled blood, she can control it's depth, distribution, and slickness at will. She can make the arena treacherous with a few well-placed puddles.
(Defensive use) She can hold her own blood on her body to repel blood/BoS attacks, which slide right off on contact with her blood barrier. Non blood/BoS attacks go right through the membrane.
Since her Branches of Sin is not strictly offensive, she is more likely to use hand to hand combat in the ring.
Physical traits:
Nina is scrappy. She likes to fight with a knife, barring that, her fists. She prefers a knife, though.
Personality:
Nina is a tough-talking boisterous lady with a hot temper. She is quick to start a fight... not so quick to finish it, however. She likes to take her time, let her opponent think its over, and then ambush them when they least expect it. Some would say she holds grudges, but its not that so much as she just... likes to screw around with people.
She is sly and backstabbing. Although she makes a great ally, that only lasts as long as she decides it does. Which is usually not very long. Horrible roommate too.
She seems to have a soft spot, if you could call it that, for children. As in, youngsters unfortunate enough to find themselves in Deadman Wonderland and/or G Block find coddling instead of doom at her hands. She never lets on about why.
Hobbies include knife collecting, coin collecting, Bandana collecting, and shoe collecting. Basically, she's a hoarder.
History:
Nina grew up in a rough part of the Philippines, sold onto a pirating ship in slavery. Then she killed the captain and any crew stupid enough to go against her.
She stole an identity- whose name she uses to this day- and continued pirating, eventually becoming pretty damn successful. At the time of the disaster, she was hiding from authorities in a nice cove in northern japan.
Being a lucky lady, she survived and went on to kill more people and pirate more vessels.
Her Branches of Sin awakened during a duel with one of her crew, who had challenged her. Her spilled blood slickened and he fell overboard, where she shot him.
She was not aware that it was anything but bad luck on his part.
Unfortunately, on a long-awaited shore stopover in Japan, one of her crew ratted her out and they were all brought in. Ironically, she and her first mate were caught right after exiting Deadman wonderland as customers.
She has so many charges on her that she isn't likely to be released. Ever. Multiple life sentences, multiple death sentences, many countries that would have liked to get a hold on her...
Somehow someone convinced them that the best place for her would be interrment as a death row inmate on Deadman Wonderland.
In a knife fight with another inmate, the nefarious overseers in the know noticed that she was strategically using her blood, without even realizing it. During treatment for her injuries, she was declared a deadman, and... well... there you go.

Shawn was a second-story thief by trade, and is extremely acrobatic. His charm, his generally genial and obedient manner, and his love of showing off have convinced DMWL to use him as a show.
He is also not bad looking.
He is also trilingual: English, French, and Japanese
Personality:
Shawn is a easygoing, social youngster. He seems oddly cheerful for a place like DMWL, but this could be because of his enthusiasm for being an entertainer. He has a love of showing off, performing acrobatic feats as part of one of the acts, and he works part time hawking goods like souvenirs, where his charming personality brings in a lot of other people's disposable income. He generally tries not to make trouble...
But some of the inmates have noticed that he's always watching everything keenly, noticing what others don't.
In short, a smart, charming, show-brat that sees more than he lets on.
History:
Shawn grew up in an orphanage, his only memories of his parents being a few snatches of bright, warm memory and the languages he carries with him.
He was a perpetual stranger in his own homeland- Japan being very wary of foreigners, even if there by birth. He was lightfingered and easily bored, and started doing a bit of petty theivery here and there. He was flexible, and trained himself in gymnastics, soon putting his two arts together. He started to make a name for himself as that 'second story kid' until a sting had him caught.
He didn't try to wriggle out of the charges, just smiled charmingly and pled guilty.
He's been well behaved ever since. Supposedly.
