As a huge fan of Tolkien and Jackson's films, I'm really eager to see these films. The trailers I've seen looks promising and I'm hoping that I'll get to see the actual film this week.

Have you seen or are you going to go to see the Hobbit? Has Jackson made justice to the epic sagas or do you think that he has messed them all up?

Yes!!!!! I've already got my tickets for opening night! I lurves me some Middle Earth action! I am hoping not to be disappointed; I'm kind of harsh with judging films in general, but it becomes increasingly more horrible when they are based off books I'm crazy about. I don't think I could ever be truly satisfied unless they made a bijillion episode show completely based of the books in full detail with the most amazing everything ever....With that said when I take the films on a base level I am pleased, and do not hunger for the blood of Peter Jackson to be soaked into the pages of all the first edition works of J.R.R Tolkien to pay for his crimes. I think hes managed to bring many aspects of the books to life in ways that doesn't make me want to dragonkick babies, which is good! So I've got high hopes for awesomness!!! ^_^

If this one's as accident-laden as the rest, it should be golden. I never bother with theatres, but I'm looking forward to the BluRay release.

I love going to the theater but I rarely have time for it these days. Mainly because the nearest theater is in the next town so it would require some organizing to go and see a movie. In my old home town, we had a good theater so I was hanging out there almost every week. biggrin

I agree with Minky, movies made of books are usually really difficult to watch but I'm glad that Peter is obviously a huge Tolkien fan so he did pretty good job with the LOTR movies. I'm sure he has done a great job with the hobbit as well. 3nodding

I knew about some of the mishaps but not all of them. Poor Viggo. Glad he was a good sport and kept going anyway making the film so awesome. Viggo was one of my favorite characters in LOTR.

I had the urge to bow when I read the bit about the knife.

I'm really looking forward to these movies. I loved reading the Hobbit so I'm sure I will love the movies as well.

I'm not sure when I'll see it, but I'm sure I will at some point. I'm really looking forward to it! My sister wants to see it, so either the two of us will go, or we'll go with my parents.

I saw it last weekend, and I enjoyed it, but I didn't think it was as great as everyone else did.

It was pretty. That's the biggest compliment I have for it.

Also Fili and Kili were hot, so they were nice to look at during the dull bits.

I dunno, I feel like the story dragged out and didn't really go anywhere because, well, it didn't. The whole movie was setting up the other movies, so the end was really dissatisfying for me. Sure, there were action scenes and some interesting bits in there, but overall, I was bored during most of the film.

I'll still go see the others in theaters though.

I haven't had the time to see it yet, but as far as I've understood the fact that they stretched it to three movies has made it bit slow paced. Knowing the story, I think it would fitted into two max. Three sounds bit greedy to me but I'll have to adjust my opinion if needed after I've seen it. smile
