I felt like I was on drugs for around 5 hours today. mrgreen
Did I mention this was from completely legal food products?

Before I started working today, I ate only 2 squares of 51% dark chocolate and drank only 1 16floz bottle of Dr. Pepper. I ate nothing else between 6:00pm and 1:30am.

The combination of endorphins from the chocolate and caffeine + sugar + unknown chemicals from the soda kept me wired and unwilling to sit down between 8:00pm and 1:00am. I felt like I was a manic depressant undergoing a manic episode: totally wired, moreso than from any energy drink I've ever tried. My hands weren't shaking, but they felt like they should have been! I only stopped when the energy wore off, and I was hungry.

I'm pretty certain this food combined with an empty stomach was the cause.

Maybe I'll try this again sometime, when I need to clean house or something.

We love to talk about food. Anyone have similar experiences, or... maybe just good food they want to talk about? Thanksgiving is coming! My favorite holiday! mrgreen

It's funny you bring up the topic of food because a little over a year ago, my boyfriend (Talchazzar as you might remember) went to school and became a chef. After drifting around for the longest time on not having any kind of goal, I finally decided I'd like to pursue becoming a private chef. I still have a ways to go but it's miles from my unambitious self from a year ago.

I'm working on a food blog that will mostly do reviews of food I purchase and done on a grading scale as well as images of food the two of us have made, I'll post a link when it has more content. We tend to host dinner parties for friends every two weeks. With thanksgiving this week but everyone busy with family, we'll be hosting one after.

I'm hammering out a menu but so far I plan on making:
hors d'oeuvres: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/michael-chiarello/mozzarella-stuffed-portobellos-recipe/index.html
Side dishes: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/foodnation-with-bobby-flay/sweet-potato-souffle-recipe/index.html
A brussel sprouts dish smothered in cheese, a family recipe... It tastes so good, you forget it's even brussel sprouts.
Dessert: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/pumpkin-chiffon-pie-recipe/index.html

The stuffing and turkey are being left up to Tal but I believe he plans on purchasing two smaller birds to make they are still moist.

That all looks delicious, Suzaka. Portobellos are always a nice choice.

I haven't had soda in so long that whenever I take a sip I get instantly gassy and am irritable for the next hour. I don't think chocolate has ever really affected me, but I drink strong tea on an empty stomach all the time and it gets me wired enough.

You'll have to duplicate your experiment and report back.

My thanksgiving is going to be spent on a plane, so I'll be eating plane food for the holiday. neutral I got my mom's pumpkin bread recipe so I'll be bringing that for a little holiday cheer, along with a box of stover's chocolates, which is a tradition.
