Sam and I have two characters planned for some northern country, Scandinavian of some sort, since Sweden's already been named Snowland and that's not something we had in mind, I think we might have our characters come from Norway. Need to prod Sam about this. Maybe just call it Nóregr which is the Old Norse name for Norway. I'm terribly uncreative.

I'm currently creating a non-chosen character, Lennart Fleischer, who is from Wardwood's equivalent of Germany! I don't have a name for it yet, since I'm absolute crap at naming places, so anyone who can come up with something is welcome to put it forward! If I come up with anything, I will certainly post it here!

LIk Mächtigland, which means 'mighty land'... or just Mächtig.

woo, ende and I made this up for some chars! Wales/Scotlant Equivalent Country Albyr, were it a bit bigger, would likely be in the same sort of situation as Airelund: engaged in tension with Sunderland, perhaps on the cusp of starvation. Instead it is saved by its size. Small, very fertile, considered extremely backwater by most foreigners, Albyr has mostly succeeded to keep its own private culture, its own ways, and even its own language. Most of the people from Sunderland will view Albyrans as the 'little siblings', and even more so, the weird little siblings. Part of this is because their accents are distinctive, and when it's strong it seems they're speaking another language entirely. The rest is because those Albyrans who come over the border into Sunderland aren't the quiet, home-making, farming types, and instead are those who can't quite find a place back home...

France Equivalent: Gallia While one of Sunderland's closest neighboring countries, they historically often don't act incredibly neighborly towards one another and have gotten into quite a few feuds over time. But despite what Sunderlanders may say about them, Gallia boasts a rich and colorful background and customs... at least as far as the rich go. The country is currently in turmoil between the poor and the Royal House, though this isn't exactly a surprising happening. Anyways. The country itself is large -- bigger than Sunderland -- and rather warm, complete with much topographical diversity. It has technologically advanced cities, but much is still rural. And it takes great pride in its producing and exportation of fine wines and champagnes.

Bosnia Equivalent: Othonia Othonia is a much smaller country to the far south of Sunderland, and is close to another sea. The rich culture has a lot of emphasis on color and hospitality. Unlike many nations around them, they are a matriarchal society, meaning that lineage passes down through by mother to daughter. This is not to say that sons aren't important, as marriage between two families can bring them together as one. The people of Othonia are usually regarded as welcoming and warm, and have excellent food and wine. Their cuisine is usually quite hardy, and usually contains many spices. Popular foods include lamb or goat as opposed to beef. When they meet, or welcome another into their home, there is the tradition of kissing them 3 times, one on each cheek and one on the forehead. Two times may be used for strangers, but more than 3 is usually reserved for people closest to them, like lovers, family members, or close friends. The most beautiful celebration of the country, Bojeljudi. For one day, all people who participate wear neutral colored clothes, but carry around sacks of colored dyes. For each person they meet, they mark some of their color upon them. Different locations mean different things, such as the cheeks meaning love or adoration, but the hands meaning friendship. None of these areas are ever anything negative, as by the end of the day, one can realize their pride in friendship and family. At sundown, the entire city, or village in some cases, will gather together for a night of feasting, wining, and dancing to celebrate. Took some personal liberties, if that's okay.

Scottish Lowlands Equivalent CaledoniaBordering the northern reaches of the Wardwood, Caledonia is a small country of peoples who are similar to Sunderland in their way of life due to close proximity. Named for the heavy woods that covers much fo the country, the people who live in Caledonia are well accustomed to a lifestyle that balances a respect for the surrounding woods and the needs of the people. Large cities and towns have risen, following in Sunderland's foot steps. Their industry is more closely tied to Sunderland than to their northern cousins in Gaels, of the Highlands as some call it. They have very little in common with those who have retained a more tribal way of life, most commonly found in the extreme norther reaches of Gaels.

Aztec Equivalent NahuahOn a large, circular southern continent, the Nahuatl are a people richly steeped in a history of massive architectural wonders, mathematical genius, powerful gods, and both written and oral traditions. Despite the best intentions of cultural invaders, this country has maintained their dominance over their land, and sparked a rich trade in textiles, agriculture (both products and techniques), and precious metals. From the finest in wools, peppers, and cacao, to tools and gold, Nahuah is prosperous and highly defensive of their wealth. It is said that their warriors are giants, the streets paved in gold, and that the secrets of eternal youth lay at the center of every city. It is also said that while the majority of the populace are dark of hair and eye, the kings, being the descendants of their gods, boast blue or green eyes, are androgynous demi-gods themselves, and live for centuries. I only have a vague idea of where I'm going with this and I hope that this swerve from our history is not bad.

Greece Equivalent Aegea! Since Real world Greece is bordered to the east by the Aegean Sea, I decided to roll with it. If any greek folks have issues with what I put below, please PM me and I will fix any glaring errors! Keep in mind that I'm creating the fictional version here, however, so please also take some of this with a grain of salt :]
Aegea is a mountainous country that experiences many different climes. Bordered on three sides by three different seas, the coastal regions experience mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers. The mountainous interior features cold, damp winters and hot dry summers with frequent thunderstorms. Many of the mountains are high enough that they deal with a more alpine climate, which includes very heavy snowfall in the winter. The country is a large producer of cotton, tomatoes, olives, and tobacco. Goods travel in and out of the country by way of the ocean, and the country's maritime industry is one of its most important aspects. Ancient Aegeans pioneered such thoughts and fields as biology, geometry, history, philosophy, and physics. They are known for their literary love, including lyrical poetry, tragedies, and comedies in the form of theatre. It is said that theatre itself was born in Aegea. Aegeans are a very colorful lot and tend to vary widely in temperament and lifestyle. One thing that seems to remain true of them all is their complete and unrestricted love of life itself. As a result, they tend to live their lives to the fullest, whether for ill or good, and tend to be very passionate about their likes and dislikes. Even their homes, especially those along the coasts, tend to be very colorful.
