Wait, who says the state of Ohio is holy? I never heard a single Ohioian say that, or even insinuate that(I live in the state... sorry). I heard it more from, the Southern states

I hear this one, more for this state. Lee Greenwood- God Bless The USA

Sorry... but... I have to do this... AMERICA!

And I do hate that song...
I'm surprised my fiancee is still with me. One of our first date movies was Team America at my request. I'm surprised she's still with me after that. Yeah she hate's this song too.

Sorry to say, but I think the whole state is backwoods. Yes, when i lived in the South, I did see racism, but it was right in your face there. People would be openly racist. Here, you actually have to spend time with someone to know if they are racist or not.

But yes, I feel this state is stale. The economy sucks in quite a few parts of it, and they still hold onto this ideal of factories being the saviors.
Yes, yes, and yes. As someone from the south who moved to the Midwest, I can agree with your sentiment.

So "God" in the star spangled banner, pledge of allegiance, and on our coins, refers to any deity the people worship. Christian God, Muslim God, Jewish God, Invisible Pink Unicorn, etc. My Pop goes on to say that everyone does have some object of worship even if they don't realize it. For an atheist businessman who spends all his life dedicated to accumulating more and more wealth beyond what he really needs, money is his god.

The God part in the paper money and the pledge came about in the 1950's and is linked to the Red Scare at the time. Also the huge condemnation of atheists, which people some how had the idea that only Russians were atheists. There may have been some good motivation behind some of the people wanting it, so I won't say everyone hated the Commies.

It was added to coinage in 1864. Partly to unify the North and South by saying everyone is under God.

My Pop claimed to have sent the letter in the late 40's or early 50's, having wrote it on a bus trip home after attempting to sign up for the military. It was the same day that he learned he would not be able to serve in the area he had requested due to his heart murmur. He later was accepted into the Coast Guard and then the Navy. I think his first attempt was for the Army or Air Force.

My Pop is almost 80 now. When he passes away I'll send a request to Congress for his name to be revealed. If they reveal his name we'll all know it was him, if not then we'll know it probably wasn't.

Edit: I just did the math. It would have had to have been in the 50's. He would have been to young to sign up in the 40's.

Ah, I see.
