 Basic Information
Names
Full Name: "Chōhime" Hana Kichiyari-Aidō Shizūmi
Common Name: Hana Shizūmi
Famous Name:
"Chōhime" is actually a title bestowed to the highest ranked female member of Hana's family and means "Butterfly Princess" in tribute to the earliest Shizūmi legacy. Many people have come to know her as "the Technician." Aging
Age: 1617
Appears: 37-43
Birthday: December 7th, 395 AD
Physical
Gender: Female
Nationality/Ethnicity: Japanese/Asian
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 134 lbs.
Blood Type: O+
Appearance: Hana is rather tall and thin for her gender and age. Her bodyweight is distributed well, but amassed thinly regardless. She appears to be willowy, like she could bend in half and still remain unfazed, but great forces may bow her under their onslaught. This is, of course, a terrible misperception due to Hana's unremitting and irritable personality. She tends to flaunt a very critical frown and rarely smiles. Usually she is doing something violent or working on a project when she smiles. Nonetheless, Hana bears a striking figure with two-toned hair and captivating and challenging eyes. Hana's eyes are dark green with gold flecks. They have a slight tendency to narrow and are often described as such. At moments of shock, they've opened to reveal slightly up-turned corners and heavy lids. Hana has long flowing hair that grows to mid-thigh. It's very thick and very full and as a result, she tends to tie it back. However, the type of restraint she uses is frail and thus comes undone easily. She often curses over it and has been talking for years about just tying her hair into a knot to save the trouble. Oddly, though, the coloring of her heavy tresses is exceptionally strange. Indeed, the vast majority of it is bone white, as if powerbleached, while the bangs are a deep, empty shade of black. Her bangs tend to sweep messily to one side and fan inward to frame her exquisite cheeks.
Markings: Hana has her clan's crest tattooed upon the nape of her neck, just like every Head before her. She also has butterfly wings tattooed across the back of her left hand. A thick ropy scar runs across her left shoulder and the area where her arm was ripped off is sheathed in a strange membrane which is clouded so as to be discreet.
Wardrobe: Hana wears the typical shihakushō however she seems to have an extreme aversion to the kosode so she will often be spotted wearing only the white shitagi. Usually she wears it loosely or open completely while showing her carefully wrapped bosom. She will only wear her full uniform if it is strictly necessary and for that reason she had her squad's insignia put on the back of her shitagi.
Accessories:
As well, Hana possesses a prosthetic arm constructed of trillions of atom-sized spherical super-computers. They are typically programmed to appear like a normal human limb, however they are capable of changing their overall formation to appear like other objects. They are limited in that they may not exceed their mass and cannot be severed from her shoulder. If they are, they become immobile. She primarily used the enhanced limb as a tool when in her lab, however was forced to branch away from her work and so became more proficient at using it in battle. She must regularly maintain it and replace it every year unless it receives copious amounts of damage or she loses large portions of it. The primary uses of the enhanced limb correlated and occured in her lab. However it is to be noted that she can also use it in battle. The uses are still fairly limited, however she may form sharp weapons usually proportional to her own size and their naturally occurring sizes. She may also stretch it greatly and thinly to grab things and form a kind of shield. The limb is subject to her own reaction times and her own limitations of strength. In other words; she is not granted any form of superior strength from the limb. The only inherent advantages of the limb is an increased functionality, and it's capability to pack itself much more densely and loosely at her will. This extends within reason; the limb is hardly the world's strongest shield, but it is immensely more durable than flesh and also occasionally more difficult to cut. Hana has an ornate pipe from which she likes to smoke upon rare occasion-particularly for exciting or worthy events. It has a petite black mouthpiece, a ribbed ebony "stalk" or pipe, and is ended with a polished brown wood bowl. The bowl has a wedge following the line of the stalk and is mottled with copious amounts of black which forms an interesting pattern. For most occasions, Hana uses her plain, square cigarette tin, and her unremarkable silver flip-top lighter. What many also do not know is that Hana has a silver stud in the cartilaginous edge of her earlobe which she got many centuries ago, during the cusp of her rebellious stage. She keeps it to remind her that there is life outside of her father's wishes and as a memento of her intensive efforts to prove herself. In some moments of agitation, when she feels very little in the way of self-confidence, Hana will fiddle with it, twisting and turning it in the way of a nervous tick. Psychological
Sexuality: Asexual - Hana seems to hold no interest in romantic entanglements. She is businesslike and driven to an extreme and doesn't have time for "shenanigans."
Overview: Hana has a highly complex personality which makes her rather similar to an onion. She is not blatant about most of her emotions and hides behind a very collected and stern countenance. She is most expressive of her anger and irritation, but besides this, she has a secretly loyal and proud heart that allows her to love and hate her job equally and think of her subordinates with the grudging love and care of a step-parent. In her younger years, Hana had an extreme aversion to other people, often being nearly allergic to socialization and having a tendency to assault those she found especially annoying. This behavior stemmed from a stressful, alienating childhood and highly dysfunctional family and the trust issues and some mild self-loathing that were caused by both. As she aged and worked her way through the ranks of all three facets of Soul Society's armed forces, until she achieved the rank of Sō-Taichō, Hana mellowed out dramatically. She still has a reclusive nature and seems to be very stern and businesslike, but she can now rule calmly and work closely with others. In her heart, Hana has become very patriotic and her interests seem to now include the protection of her country and people, thus she is secretly very loyal to the Gotei's cause and will defend her subordinates and countrymen with a surprising tenacity when necessary.
Values: Hana's values are placed somewhere in an intellectual sense. She strongly believes that knowledge is power. It is key to anything worth doing. Even simple knowledge is profound in her mind. Of course, Hana was such an antagonist to most people that she felt it necessary and prudent to develop her intellect in order to strategize at masterful levels, believeing it necessary for survival. So far, Hana has only met one opponent whom could best her intellect, whom she could not interpret and overcome using that intellect. As such, she holds her education, both formal and informal, at an extremely high esteem. Hana is also violently protective of and extremely loving of her family. This extends with unremitting pace to include merely her immediate relatives. The distant and lawful relatives mean little more than leeches to the name and fortune. She is also proud and loyal to the true line of the Shizūmis as she was raised to be. Hana lives for her pride and honor and for those she has been conditioned by bonds stronger than blood to love. Hana is incredibly frugal and only once put her own fortune into funds for her squad, which was in order to throw a drinking party to celebrate her first captaincy. The purchase of booze was not approved by her and the culprit was never again heard from. Since first joining the military, Hana has refused to take any form of compensation for her work. Under the tutelage of her father she became a skilled economist and businesswoman, having a hold in markets throughout the living world and spiritual world. Thus she felt she did not need a paycheck. However, despite not taking compensation for her soldiering, Hana did accept pay for her additional work such as commissioned tools. It is to this effect that Hana is devoid of the necessary scruples to be unbuyable. So long as you pay her back in full, she will break the law, circumvent authority and commit some unholy acts. This can usually be achieved by donating some service to the Research Institute or to the Gotei at large. This facet of her personality has not changed with the exception of requested help that endangers the Soul Society. Some of her fierce protectiveness also bled into her work, and Hana gradually began to think of the citizenry and army as somewhat important, like distant relatives. She has a great deal of pride in her capacity to lead and protect them.
Intellect: Hana, as implied by her position, is intelligent. Far so beyond normal means of thought. If someone were truly stupid enough, they'd call her a genius. Really, though, her intellect is rarely flawed, but flawed nonetheless, and it stems from the many libraries she has access to. In fact, the one in the main house is several stories tall with ceiling-to-floor shelves and they cram every available wallspace. It is by far the largest with roughly 100,000 tomes, however the others are each impressive. The woman has a tendency to fixate upon the technical or biological in nature, however she almost inherrently has something to say about any given subject, provided she cares to speak. In other words, when she's in the mood to talk, she's thorough and opinionated. And each comment is hardly unoriginal. Her other interests are technology and strategy. This intelligence has greatly aided her in combat and as a leader.
Habits: Habits! Habits! Hana has an obnoxious tendency to click-retract the tips of pens into their casings in a nervous manner however this is only done when a pen is at hand and she is worrying a problem. When typing and considerably excited, Hana will first clench her hands into fists leaned toward herself, then "throw" them toward her [computer] screen with the fingers outstretched, as if cuing another to begin where she left off. It's a movement much like one used in cheesy productions. When sufficiently bored, Hana will first point her foot and then flex the toes back towards her leg under their own power. She then alternates after a good number of repetitions. Hana's only four other notable habits are [chain]smoking, pacing when hungry, pinching the bridge of her nose at the onset of a headache, and excessive profanity and insults aimed at offending creatures and objects. Usually this last habit is liberally patterned with enough wit and overbearing disapproval, that the preposterous nature of it is forgotten. The final habit is the only one Hana seemingly drops once it is pulled apart and thrown in her face, thought this is primarily just her response to something which especially irritates her. When she is well and truly peeved, Hana drops the pretenses of sarcasm and disappointment and opts for an elevated speech pattern, an even and acerbic tone, and a carefully controlled volume.
Fighting: Hana rarely fights. She feels she is one of the last defenses of Soul Society and subconsciously fears her own power. She prefers to settle any and all disputes with as little effort and power possible. Thus, she has a strong aversion to releasing her zanpakutō. It is for that reason that Hana primarily fights with Kidō, Hakuda, and her own limited capacity for zanjutsu, all of which are heavily accentuated by her Hohō and spiritual power. She is also crafty and tries to entangle her opponent in traps to debilitate them.
Preferences: Although it matters little, Hana is defined as atheist. She's against any form of organized religion and has trouble buying the very idea of a deity. To her reckoning, the Soul King is merely an exalted soul, without any real divine authority. Hana likes salty or spicy foods most, and seems to prefer foods with rich sauces, pasta and meat. Her favorite snacks, however, are peach cups, crackers, and jerky. She tries to make room for food from other cultures as often as she can on her menu. One of her favorite foods is sushi rolls usually topped with salmon sashimi and smelt roe. Despite being very old and reserved, Hana has surprising music taste. Genres do not stop her; if it's catchy and meaningful then she will continue to listen to it and even learn it. What people don't realize is that music follows the woman around. She is rarely without it. A fair number of her favorite songs feature loud obnoxious guitar rifts, or can be played on her cane dulcimer without seeming ridiculous. Hana works best with classical rock and occasionally jazz. The woman's favorite color is yellow, and she prefers dry heat and direct sunlight. She also refrains from consuming alcohol and so has fairly low tolerance. Her favorite type of day is a pleasantly warm one just after a powerful storm when the sky is very clear and bright blue and dotted by thick fluffy white clouds.
Theme(s): Relationships
Family: The Shizūmi clan is a large and powerful Noble House with a great deal of prestige. They have always been on the same level as the Kuchikis and Shihōins with the exception that they only became public about it just over a millenia ago. It is said that the gods themselves assigned the Shizūmis the task of guarding and caring for three ancient holy artifacts. At the same time, The Shizūmis were assigned the task of overlooking the economy of soul society. According to the records of the third Head of the Shizūmi Clan, the third was approached by the Soul King himself and assigned a position of a small council whose purpose was to manage the treasury. Since that time, the Shizūmi head has always held a place on the council and knowledge pertaining to the treasury's various locations and contents have been passed down through the years. The original discoverers and caretakers of the Jigokuchō were the Shizūmi clan.
Unknown(Father) [Deceased]- Hana loved her father immensely. He taught her everything she needed to know to lead the clan, and was the lynchpin of her family. Not a day goes by that she doesn't miss him. Unknown(Mother) [Deceased]- Her relationship with her mother was somewhat cumbersome due to the fact that she was essentially her mother's babysitter. Hana loved the woman, and constantly tried to help her move through her life-long mental breakdown, but she was cautious to confide in her mother and tread lightly, forbidding certain subject matter to reach her. When the woman finally gave up trying to live through her grief, Hana took off a year of work to care for her, see to the funeral, and help her brother through his own grief. She then disappeared for the remaining nine months and has refused to speak a word regarding her travels at the time. Unknown(Brother) [Alive]- Hana's brother is the closest to her intellectually, despite being crippled and weak. She treats him like he is very fragile but he is typically the only person capable of smacking her back into sorts. For the most part they have a very blatant relationship, often being the harsh words the other needs. Allies: (If you want your character here, don't hesitate to ask!)

Zanpakutō Information
Sealed
Zanpakutō Name: Kami no Hikari(神の光, Light of God)
Zanpakutō Sealed Description: Unreleased, Kami no Hikari seemingly takes the form of a cane. However it is not just any cane. The length of the cane is carved into a four-string dulcimer. The brass tip comes off to allow a flute to unscrew. A blade is hidden within the cane. Hana can often be seen playing either intrument when she is not in her lab. She will even do so to drive off unwanted company. Especially if they are trying to speak. After turning into a child, the cane shrank to proportion with its wielder.
Zanpakutō Spirit: The spirit of Kami no Hikari is a man with two masks. One mask resembles a handsome young man with his features set into a fierce scowl. The other mask depicts an ugly elderly man with a kindly smile on his face. Each mask resembles a side of his personality; his pride and arrogance, and his wisdom and caring. Aside from two masks, Kami no Hikari wears a thin grey sweater with the sleeves bunched at his elbows, and black slacks. Or are they jeans? The material is sturdy and dark, which is all that really matters. Around the man, like a nimbus, or a three-dimensional shadow, the air is darker and heavier. The appearance of this aura is hard to describe, but it looks very much like food coloring mixed into water, or how the water in the cup looks after a nice long bout of water coloring; it is transparent but an inky shade of grey and purple and black. The aura is often blurred or distorted by light or fog, but it has a definite outline which can be seen in indirect sunlight, dim areas, and without fog nearby. The outline is of a large, hunched-backed creature with shallow spines running down it's back, and bulky arms and shoulders. The hands are pinched, but tipped with retracting claws which strongly resemble the flattened, curved shape of a human's nails. When fully extended, the sides of each claw are entirely parallel, thus they do not narrow. Each claw is about two inches long. It sits on it's large haunches so not much can be deduced about the lower body aside from powerful hind legs and a wide, girthy torso. It also seems it has rounded ears, not unlike those of a lion or bear.
He tends to guide Hana as best he can through life but they seem to have an antagonistic relationship. This relationship is reflected by both masks and whole-heartedly reciprocated five-fold by Hana. For example, often he refers to her as "brat" while she calls him "b*****d" and life moves on.
She has admitted to her sister that the elderly mask reminds her of their father, and has mused that, were her brother healthy and well, he would resemble the young man strongly. So while she in turn loathes her zanpakutou's behavior, she adores it emphatically. Hana has a minor suspicion that her zanpakutou's spirit may very well be part hollow or on the cusp of hollowification, given it's unique aura shape and the lack of composite features, rather than just an outline.
Inner World: The Inner World of Hana is a white landscape without any semblance of walls or floors. It is seemingly impossible to move or gain inertia unless one pushes off of one of the few existing structures. Otherwise all occupants are left to float. If given enough time, they will list ever so slightly to their right. Hana has pondered what this may mean and believes it is symbolism pertaining to her missing arm. The entire place is awash with thick, soupy fog, however the breaks reveal a white world.
Smudgy coal-black lines running vertically with one little spur tumbling horizontally to the right float in an innumerable cluster, each no farther than a football field from at least one other. The entire collection of horizontal lines range in individual size from the average length of a school bus, to several hundred feet while their vertical counterparts are usually in the area of five to seven times their length. The lines appear to slant to the right(when facing away from the horizontal lines) and are imperceptibly thin but astoundingly sturdy. The horizontal lines, at any given angle, display their broad face however when peering down upon them, they are at thin at their counterparts. The spur smudges out at it's outward tip and from over it, one by one, drops of a silvery plasma spill over the spur and splatter parallel to the starting point of the vertical line. Almost immediately after splattering, they fade out. Hana once on her first entrance to her inner world remarked that they reminded her of crude minimalistic concept sketches of waterfalls.
Several yards below the "forest of waterfalls" as Hana has seen fit to dub them for it is the closest analogy she can conceive, the white of the environment darkens until all is lost to a black so deep as to be impenetrable.
Shikai
Shikai Name: Hason Shita Kami no Hikari(破損した神の光, Corrupt Light of God)
Shikai Release Phrase: Kibau(嫌う, Spurn)
Shikai Appearance: The blade begins to glow until it is too bright to see, then the light fades and reveals a silver four-inch rod no thicker than a pencil. On one end a hole is drilled where beams of Hana's reiatsu are shot from. What people are not aware of is that the tube itself weighs a good 45 pounds.
Shikai Attacks/Abilities: Kami no Hikari's ability is to rip apart particles. Particularly spiritual particles. This ability is personified in a cutting or severing motion and it is operative only upon contact with the weapon's beam. While Hana's reiatsu is pale grey and resembles fog, Kami no Hikari's is a pale but luminescent yellow which cuts and shines through her fog. In shikai, the range of Kami no Hikari's beam is half a mile and its speed is 250 miles per hour. It is capable of burning through four inches of steel in two seconds of continuous drilling and seems to have little difficulty punching through most commonly found materials. The actual beam rarely causes an explosion on impact as it is designed to be a cutting force. All the same, when Hana suitably charges it, she can destabilize it to the point that a minor explosion occurs within a three-foot radius of contact. She doesn't like it because it serves no purpose in a battle except to possibly add an awe or shock factor to an otherwise deceptively boring attack. In fact, after a certain point, the beam will not even form, and the greatest dealt damage are minor burns, bruises, and occasionally some layers of skin missing. Most instances of use are limited to moments of agitation. Her power also spikes, although this is merely a conscious scare tactic. Anything abnormally condensed with reiatsu is unable to be deconstructed, meaning specifically instances of spell work such as Kidō barriers, which are stable forms of energy, reinforced armoring, as granted by the release of one's powers or similar in scope and structure to a strong hierro. Rather than being effectively obliterated, the former are structurally weakened in varying levels and the latter are lacerated in varying levels of severity. Hana's abilities also do not affect zanpakutō excepting release states creating expendable missiles which are thus separated from the main mass. These abilities can harm and destroy common tools, including gikon which are mass-produced and artificial beings. [1.] Koi no hakai(故意の破壊, Willful Destruction): The common form of Kami no Hikari is a beam of light and energy emerging from the tube-like form of the weapon's "body." It is colorless so in other words it strongly resembles a flourescent lightbulb no thicker than 2 centimeters. Hana can extend it fully and use it like a ridiculously long, stiff flail. This extended form is commonly used to open up a battlefield more or to create a large-scale shower of debris, particularly from any surrounding structures or formations. She can also keep it at the length of a sword and fight with it. The general length Hana is comfortable with is 30 inches, but she can use other lengths with some comfort. If she indulges in another length it is either in retaliation to someone with a much larger reach than her, or she is using her shikai for a project. [2.] Kyūsokuna kaen shingō(急速な火炎信号, Rapid Flare): Hana produces a large beam which breaks into one hundred pieces and rains down on the target area. She is incapable of directing their path after firing. The beams all seem to be arranged no farther than five feet from one another, and their path and flow is not conical but direct. Thusly, at no time is the range wider than 100 feet. The ideal way to use this attack is from a distance as the "shattering" of the beam occurs two yards away from the body of Kami no Hikari. [3.] Hoji no konzetsu(保持の根絶, Eradication of Retention): Hana widens the size of her beam and trains it on a target. Rather than destroy all within the beam, only the edges contain an attack capability. She can use this to trap an individual or cut something out, however the shape is commonly a circle or one of it's variants. This attack actually doesn't have a base. In other words, it is open-ended and so Hana must use a pre-existing surface to support it and prevent escape. This makes the use of this technique a thoroughly delicate juggling act. [4.] Hisan'na Muchi(悲惨な鞭, Wretched Whip): Now, rather than having ramrod straight beams, she is able to curve them and even use them like a whip. One of her favorite things to do is wrap a target up and slice them like a Christmas ham. Hana tends to keep the whips shorter, as longer whips are more difficult to control. [5.] Hōka no Ko(放火の弧, Arc of the Arsonist): By swinging her arm, she can form large crescent-shaped blasts of energy which break away from the main body of the beam and travel quickly in whichever direction they were formed. What's interesting is that as the crescent forms, about the edges, small spheres form. They remain still, as if hesitating before firing in the same direction as the crescent beam, at a much higher rate of movement(typically twice that of the crescent), and serve to barrage the blast's epicenter after the initial attack. These "catch-safe" orbs are usually no larger in circumference than marbles but are considerably powerful, much like highly compressed [mature] bala. The amount of orbs per attack range from five to ten. With an appropriate increase in charge time and power imput, the size and range or affect of this attack has been known to increase ten-fold.
Bankai
Bankai Name: Kami no Hikari o Hogo Suru(神の光を保護する, Protecting [the] Light of God): it has a double entente that implies that the weilder is now the light of god. Hana finds this to be highly ridiculous but puts up with it.
Bankai Release Phrase: "Bankai!"
Bankai Appearance: Instead of the lone hand-held weapon, Kami no Hikari becomes a type of hyper-luminescent sheathe of light which covers her entire body like armor. She can extend it and redirect it in the shape of her shikai attacks though she's mostly limited to her extremities, such as the hands and feet. Hana is entirely blocked from sight as the armor is a complete one that simultaneously attempts to blind and harm any attackers while protecting her with her zanpakutō's natural offensive might. Oddly enough, while wearing this armor, Hana appears to grow taller and thinner, though no one is sure if this is an optical illusion, whether she is floating, or if she really has been altered. Her limbs end in soft points and she appears more fluid with softer angles and flowing movements. Her head takes the shape of a simple ovaline blob of light which appears to be separated from the body by a small space. About her head is a nimbus of light that appears to be more colorful and fantastic the thicker her fog is. Around the light-body is a slightly darker shadow, believed to be a phenomena caused by shadows and light refracted through moisture in the air. It mirrors the shadow that follows Kami no Hikari's spirit. When she does speak in this form, her voice appears to be an amalgam of four; her own, both of Kami no Hikari's masks, and a much deeper and more sinister one. (For a better idea of what this form will look like, click here.)
Bankai Attacks/Abilities: In Bankai, Hana's armor takes on the properties of her lazers, destroying anything it comes into contact with, provided of course that Hana commands it to. It's ability is typically personified by a scorching severing motion, like a white-hot blade cutting through cheese. From the ends of her rounded limbs, Hana can form and manipulate any of her Shikai attacks in very closely related variations on the originals while of course making allowances for her armor. Hana can also force her armor to overload up to several times in a row, thus increasing it's destructive defensive power although doing so temporarily lowers it's power for a period afterwards and subsequently drains her Reiryoku at an elevated rate. What this means is that she could theoretically throw her Bankai into hyper-drive, for long periods of time without stopping, but the toll would be intense. [1.] Anagumo(雨雲, Nimbus): Nimbus is an end-all-be-all attack that sends a shockwave out in a radius in all directions from Hana. It is characterized by the armor dimming momentarily while the shadow becomes more visible. Then, there is a bright flash as directed energy and pressure is forced outward at elevated speeds. This ability has a full range of half a mile in any direction although Hana rarely exceeds half of that in an effort to save energy. The attack is personified by a searing or burning affect with the greatest deal of damage being closer to the epicenter, and it may be countermanded by heavy masonry and other dense materials used as a shield. [2.] Tawainai Uso(たわいないうそ, White Lie): White Lie is an attack on a whole different scale. By pointing Kami no Hason-kō straight into the air, Hana can create a massive barrage of falling star-type bombs which rain down all around her and destroy everything in range. The range of this attack covers the area of a football field and is roughly circular in shape. Each bomb may be likened to a large ember or an extremely brilliant military-grade flare. In fact, the attack is also characterized by it's tendency to momentarily darken the surrounding sky. Each bomb lands in about the same way as air-dropped tanks do; spectacularly. The attack usually lasts two posts altogether. The toll for initiating this attack is rather unusual for Hana can still move, fast enough to avoid the blast without giving her opponents enough warning. The bombs do not trail behind Hana, but are stationed about the location where they are launched. [3.] Hoshi no Chizu(星の地図, Star Map): In a controlled series of leaps, whether on the ground or in the air, Hana's feet will touch down and where they do, a circle of white light about the size of a basketball will form creating a flat disk. Hana may choose to hold this attack as long as she is in bankai, may detonate any disk she chooses in any order, or may detonate them all at once. She may create up to fifty of these disks but experiences increasing demands upon her reiryoku stores and concentration the more she creates. When formed on the ground, a pillar of light will shoot into the sky bearing the same properties as her regular attacks. When formed in the air, the beam with be earthbound.

Combat Information
Spiritual Energy
The woman possesses Immense Spiritual Energy, as is atypical of a Sō-Taichō. Hana's reiatsu has one form; fog. The fog is just a manifest of the intent of the zanpakutou and has properties that make the surrounding particles more unstable. This ability is used primarily as a supplementary one to further aid her zanpakutou's ability and allow her to be relatively combat-applicable. Interestingly enough, Hana also has another ability to direct and manipulate the force and might of her reiatsu. It's limited so that she cannot make intricate shapes, but she can generally shape and direct it, and can maximize the affect, thus creating a type of attack. This attack can range from a fogbank to a condensed orb of fog in size, but the implication is the same. Hana's reiatsu affects reishi the most, though objects in the living world are also slightly affected. Nothing is ever destroyed or damaged outright, as the ability is to merely soften or loosen the bonds of particles. [Please note this ability mainly works to very subtly "soften" things and as a smokescreen. It's not effective, alone, for the killing or harming of others.]
Zankensoki
Hohō: She has attained mastery of Hohō, being able to move great distances with a single step, and to a lesser extent she can move other parts of her body at elevated rates. Hana rarely gets tired or winded from using movement techs and is accustomed to seeing them up to several degrees of mastery. She's widely regarded as one of the fastest captains, and has been known to train others in the art, with few complaints.
Senka(閃花, Flash Blossom): A special Shunpo technique where one moves behind the opponent to directly attack and seal one's Saketsu (鎖結, Chain Binding) and Hakusui (鎖結, Soul Sleep) in two rapid attacks. The movement is so fast that an opponent may not be able to tell whether he was attacked from the front or the back and even an outside observer may find it impossible to tell what the movements are. Utsusemi (空蝉, Cicada, referencing their molting): It allows for a movement at great speed leaving an afterimage behind. The afterimage may even appear to have taken damage. Hakuda: Hana is a Master in hakuda from years spent both in the Nanabantai under the tutelage of some of the most skilled practitioners in all three worlds and because it was required of her in order to hold the position of Kanritai Gundanchō. Prior to her time in the Nanabantai, Hana was ranked an Expert practitioner primarily for the sheer power in her blows. She even went on to develop a form of hakuda reliant on quick powerful strikes. The downside to this form was that it drained energy quickly, was self-damaging, and was simplistic in nature. After being properly trained, Hana went back and revised her alternate fighting style to be safer to use via minimalistic motions and transitions. She also studied some combat medicine and took a few classes of sports medicine in the living world and used her knowledge of musculature to find the smoothest transition regimen. To this day, the Kanritai of the Onmitsukidō still utilize this form of hakuda in the high-security parts of the Ujimushi no Su(蛆虫の巣, Nest of Maggots).
Oni Dekopin(鬼デコピン, Oni Headpoke): A technique where a simple finger flick has enough physical force to send an opponent flying a considerable distance away, even with enough power to crash through multiple physical constructs. Raiōken(雷王拳, Thunder King Fist): A technique involving a series of ultra-high-speed punches delivered using both arms. Gatoringu Jidanda(ガトリング(地団駄), Gatling Mad-Stomping): A technique where the user does multiple foot stomps on an opponent's face. The technique is powerful enough to send powerful opponents flying and shatter powerful armor. Kazaguruma(風車, Windmill): A technique where one throws their body up into the air, making a shearing movement with the legs to get one leg in front of the other without holding on to the ground. The move can either be done backwards or sideways. When the move is done with one leg high over the head to deliver a devastating kick to an opponent sending them flying away with tremendous force. Maddohattā Zutsuki(マッドハッターずつき, Mad Hatter Headbutt): A self-designed technique where the user headbutts an opponent, using their own energy to exacerbate the speed and power of the attack. It is dubbed as thus because Hana uses this primarily on her pupils when they annoy her and whom she has commented tend to resemble the Mad Hatter afterwards. Tesshō(鉄掌, Iron Palm): An open palm strike that can effortlessly shatter a Hollows head to pieces with single strike. Kidō: She has Mastery of Kidō, having learned and mastered up to level 100 in all subcategories. Hana has a running knowledge of Kidō structure and development which not only allows her to perform near-perfect spells up to level 93 without an incantation, but also allowed her to utilize Kidō in her work and create unique Kidō in the past. Usually these unique Kidō were commissioned by the Central 46 for defense or offense, such as barriers. For most spells, Hana is an ideal teacher due to her clear understanding of the subject. As Sō-Taichō, she also has knowledge and mastery of a number of forbidden spells as is required of her position. Due to her own interests and understanding of a number of subjects, Hana is very familiar with human anatomy and uses this information to help bolster her own limited capacity for healing of the non-invasive and surgical variety, namely Kidō. She can clot blood, close and restructure lesser lacerations and burns, raise and lower body temperature to deal with fevers and relax and sedate patients. Otherwise her best chance to heal others is through full-blown surgery.
Eishōhaki(詠唱破棄, Incantation Abandonment): a class of Kidō Incantation where the Kidō practitioner forgoes using a spoken incantation at all. Nijū Eishō(二重詠唱, Twofold Incantation): a class of Kidō Incantation where the Kidō practitioner mixes the incantations of two entirely separate Kidō spells together to save time and confuse ones' opponent at the same time. Kōjutsu Eishō(後述詠唱, "Spoken-After Incantation"): a class of Kidō Incantation where the incantation is recited after initiating the spell in order to power it up. Zanjutsu: Hana is arguably skilled with a blade, however there are plenty who could best her in technique and application. She only holds the rank of an expert thanks to her insistence on at least learning the basic strokes of kendo.
Agitowari(顎割, "Chin/Jaw Splitting"): A sword technique where a single sword attack cuts an opponent in half from the jaw down the length of the body until the target is bi-sectioned. Ryōdan(両断, "Bisection"): A two-handed sword technique that has the practitioner bring the sword down with enough force that it can cut an opponent in half right down the middle. Shinigami-Specific Abilities
Longevity: All plus, including shinigami, have a tendency to live for long periods of time, often appearing quite young while having lived for centuries. Hana is no exception. She's going on sixteen hundred years and she barely looks to be in her late thirties. Enhanced Durability: All shinigami have a naturally high durability, being able to take considerably more damage and pain than the average human, without collapsing. Shinigami can die, though it is difficult to guarantee. Decapitation is the best means to kill them. Konsō (魂葬, Soul Burial): This allows Hana to send a plus to the soul society, effectively putting them at rest. She mainly uses the butt of her zanpakutō in order to do this. Hollow Cleansing: Shinigami have the ability to cleanse the sins a hollow committed after losing its heart. At which point, they move on to either the soul society or hell, or even the living world, depending on the lives they lead as living humans, prior to dying. This ability is expressed by cutting a hollow with a zanpakutō.

Biography Warning: the following section is incomplete and has been completed slowly but surely over time as I am able and inspired to do so. The shortened version is as follows. Abridged: Hana was born into a fabulously wealthy and powerful family but was widely considered a disappointment for she was the first born and female. She became infatuated with proving herself which led to her eventual entry into the Academy. Because she was so unique, she completed her coursework at home, and discovered her own love for science and technology. Hana was very skilled with Kidō and was initially invited to the Kidōshū(鬼道衆, Kidō Corps). She managed to climb high in the ranks but was invited to join the Jūnibantai(十二番隊, Twelfth Division, Squad Twelve) as a shinigami. After proving herself an exceptional soldier and attaining the rank of Seventh Seat, she was transferred to the open position of the Fifth Seat of the Nanabantai(七番隊, Seventh Division, Squad Seven). At the time Hana was feigning incompetence in the use of her zanpakutō. In order to refrain from revealing the fact that she had long since mastered her shikai and was in the process of attaining bankai, she endeavored to improve her knowledge of Hakuda under the guidance of several masters. While holding the position, she also improved her leadership and social skills. Eventually she mastered Hakuda and was subsequently was tapped for the dual position of Kanritai(檻理隊, Detention Unit, Management Force) Gundanchō(軍団長, Corps Commander) in the Onmitsukidō(隠密機動, Covert Ops, Stealth Force) and Third Seat of the Nibantai(二番隊, Second Division, Squad Two). They needed a leader with her skill set to maintain security at the Ujimushi no Su(蛆虫の巣, Nest of Maggots). All throughout this time, Hana had been privately devoting herself to research and minor experimentation. During the "Blood War," Mayuri Kurotsuchi died and Hana was called to take his place. She served, improving the operations and defenses of the Soul Society and Gotei. She later "retired" to serve in the Ōzokutokumu(王属特務, Royal Guard, Zero Division, Squad Zero). After the position of Sō-Taichō(総隊長, Captain Commander, Head Captain) was emptied, 120 years prior to the current storyline, she was elected among the elites of the military and has served thus since. During her life, Hana had assumed control of her family and finely honed her skills simply to test her own limits and several of her own inventions. During her career she was also asked to complete certain missions, one of whom severely maimed her, resulting in a need for a prosthetic heart and arm. She has proven a stern, careful, and hardy leader and a powerful force in the governing body of her country.
――――― Birth: On a cold, dry winter's night, when the wind howled and scraped against anything and everything that dared to stand in its way, a very special event was about to occur. The ancient and exquisite walls shivered and protested the advances of the storm. Servants crept about on the edges of the glorious main building's floor plan, keeping to the outer walls and hurrying to double-, triple-, even quadruple-secure the heat traps and all outer entrances. Hand-crafted, valuable door liners were placed at the residential and guest doors, while rags and towels were stuffed and wadded into the cracks about the servants' outer service entrances. Even though it was against the rules and extra risky due to the Mistress being in labor, doors to the inner living quarters of the Noble Family were cracked to let some heat seep in to the sleeping quarters of those caught under a servile yoke. Meanwhile collection tins went around to have the hardiest of runners go buy some extra coal from the boiler man around on the other side of the main building. The remainder of the massive day staff-after several of their number were roused to fortify the main house, see to visiting excited relatives, and to help aid in the birth, settled down to shiver into unconsciousness together. Everyone knew the Heir would come by noon, and that dinner that night would be a feast. Not that it wasn't always some manner of extravagant spread, but the oldest servants, who'd long been in service, knew from the current Master's birth and all sorts of milestones in his life, that the good fortunes of the Noble Family directly transferred onto themselves. Irregardless, both staffs would be employed in preparing the feast and serving it, and so they needed their rest. As the day staff shivered and slept, the night staff crept through the warm, dimly lit halls. One section of the mansion was in party mode as rowdy drunken birth guests drank and danced and made fools of themselves to the skilled playing of the family's personal musicians. The tunes were cheerful and festive, quaintly oriental to match the massive building, the clothes of it's occupants and the food they ate. On the opposite side of the building, the hub of activity centered around the Mistress's anguished cries and alarmingly foul mouth. She'd been in labor for ten hours, and had had quite enough, thank you. Her husband hovered nervously nearby as a servant, dubbed the Matron for her great skill and experience in delivering babies, transitioned between encouraging croons and demanding retorts. She was a fireball, no doubt, as the Mistress had tiredly panted during a break in contractions. Here in this snug sanctuary, the fierce storm couldn't be heard. Outside the chambers the Master shared with his wife, a platoon of middle-aged male servants rushed headlong through the open halls of the main building, on their way to repair several loose pressure valves connected to the boiler. They had to hurry before the drop in pressure managed to affect the House's heat or lighting system. As they worked, both the birth team and the boiler team, the storm slacked off and the temperature plummeted. As the Master, nearly purple with poorly restrained agitation, began to fuss over the chill, a shrill, demanding squawk rent the air. Matron held a disgusting bundle of gunk-encrusted, obscenely pink fat rolls up for the parents to oggle, before rushing the creature off to be cleaned. Only minutes later, a baby slept comfortably inside a soft, plain blanket. The Mistress took her daughter in her arms, immediately happy and madly in love as only a mother could be. Her husband knelt beside her fūton and watched them, smiling on the surface but with pensive eyes. Sure enough, later that day, well into the evening, a great feast was prepared which was opened to members of various Noble Families. It was not considered a mandatory event, nor was it treated as a ground-breaking historical moment as it would have been were the child suitable for an Heir, which is to say, male. Many came, of course, but the event was clouded by the fact that the child was female.
In the days that followed, several advisory meetings occurred and the Master officially announced that they would try again for a proper Heir. Hana, the disappointing first-born, was handed off to a nurse immediately.
Childhood: She grew up with eyes unclouded by youthful naïveté and saw her position to be both unfortunate and wrong. It offended her to think that she'd been cast aside like so much trash simply due to her gender, but from the start, Hana entertained the misconception that she could do naught to change this fact. She devoted herself to the tasks handed to her, trying to cheer her parents from the sinking despair they'd fallen into when the first-born male was infirm, and trying to make them proud of her. It is for this reason that Hana was marked out as one with prodigious determination and drive. However, the real problem came when she demanded a story-"a real story," were her exact words-from the latest of a long line of nurses. As she asked, a real story is what she got.
The nurse "Begging' your pardon, young Mistress, but you're not the first of your line that's wanted to be somethin' great, despite your gender," she whispered, scooching close and nodding sagely with the furtive look of one whom believes they are conferring the most prudent of details. "You have a many-times-great Grandmother what founded the Clan, herself. Yessir, she sure did. Her name was Aya, and she was just like you. She wanted to prove herself and was wicked smart at all sorts of things." Like any inquisitive child, Hana latched onto the information and pounded the nurse with all sorts of trivial questions. She never let the woman catch a break, always wanting to know more. The answer had been there all along, right in front of her. Rather than accepting her fate, she could change it; she could be the Head of the family! While Hana now knew what she wanted to be, she didn't know how to do it. She knew, at least, that all Heads, barring her father, had attained powerful leadership positions in the Gotei. It didn't take a genious to know that. One only had to pay attention to the nervously fluttering advisors while pretending to play under the watchful eye of her father in order to know that people in the family were desperate for a powerful representative in the army. That her father abstained from soldiering was a cause of great panic. After all, once service to their country waned, so would the Shizūmi's power. She also knew that all Heads had been placed on a financial council for the country. What this meant to Hana was that she had to be the best shinigami and economist pretty much ever. It is for that reason, at the physical age of nine, that Hana began blackmailing bodyguards to train her in energy control and other combat arts. Meanwhile, she got an elder member of the family to teach her the basics in money management. And why not? Even the Mistress, the Chōhime had a basic understanding of the family business. Hana's mother had decided early on that she would never be the fool of a wife that languished in comfort and frivolity. She would run her household and support her husband.
Hana grew fast, she started talking about wanting to take the exam openly to her parents. They thought her cute but took no heed of her machinations. At least not until she demonstrated her budding skill in a fantastic show borne of frustration. Seeing his opportunity to escape the nagging of his advisors, Hana's father encouraged her and had her escorted to the next exam. Hana passed it with flying colors, for she had been zealous in her studies all her life. Even so she had to wait a short while for the result, as had all the other applicants. On the day the results were posted, Hana refused to sit in the carriage with her father and mother, but followed along, too excited to sit still. Occasionally she would fly ahead using her limited capacity for shunpo, and wait around for them to catch up. Sometimes minor shops or the sights of the Sereitei would draw her inquisitive stare. By the time they arrived at the Academy, both parents laughed and chattered on, bemused by their eldest child's antics. They'd never seen such a solemn and driven child in such a state of poorly-suppressed nervousness. As was to be expected, everyone else was forced to draw to the side and bow while Hana and her parents went to check the announcement board. From between her parents, surrounded by a small patrol of guards, the young girl gazed out at the other applicants, some of whom wore the recognizable uniform required of every student. The rest wore ragged cheap garments, presumably their very best. There were so very many of them, too many for the rate of acceptance, as Hana had read it. All the same, odds were a fair number of these adult souls would be her classmates. Understandably curious, the crowd all watched this guarded trio, speculating to themselves which had applied. Was it the man? Most likely; female soldiers were few and far between. Besides, Noble Ladies rarely did more than simper and look nice for their husbands. And bear suitable heirs. By the proud and strong line of her face, some argued for the woman. No one paid heed to the girl, no more that twelve years of age in appearance, whom walked solemnly on in an extravagant little kimono. As the trio searched out Hana's name, the man's voice resounded, echoing hollowly through the courtyard. "In Kidō you placed first, in general knowledge you placed first, in tactics and skill application you placed first, in hand-to-hand combat you placed seventy-third, in zanjutsu you placed one-hundred seventeenth, in spiritual energy control, you placed seventh," he read, at first quite satisfied and then disapproving. "You would do well to not abandon your training, but you have passed. Congratulations, daughter, you are officially a student." Whispers erupted through the courtyard like wildfire. The girl? The girl?! No one had even considered her and yet she'd been the applicant? On top of that, to place first in three areas of focus, place within the top ten of a fourth area, and come in within the first two hundred in both physical tests, despite her stature was incredible. Feeling the bite of her father's disappointment, Hana left the area, executing a flawless example of shunpo. She arrived back at the mansion and retired to her rooms. No one disturbed her except one servant whom brought her uniform. She was to start tomorrow and would be living in the Academy's dorms. Of course, this was only allowed provided she could have a patrol of bodyguards. Anticipating her acceptance, her things had already been packed and were now on their way to the dorms where servants would move them in. For safety purposes, Hana had received a special room all to herself.
The next day, Hana

ArtHana in Profile- Self-drawn using a mechanical pencil, a pen, and a colored pencil. How...Charming- Self-drawn using a mechanical pencil and pen. This was concept art for a more gritty-looking version of her. Hana "Kai" Commission Cut-out- Commissioned back in the days when Hana was known as Kaishin Nagume, and wore casual, modern clothes. Full Commission- This is the full image the above image was taken from. The guy on the far left with the black and aquamarine mask was Hana's husband in that guild. Chibi Hana "Kai"- This image was mostly a bi-product of my dorking around with the old design. 'Tis terrible, and all me. Hana "Kai" Smiling?- Old art. Self-done.

I'm not entirely sure but I think I myself am approved for the spot, but the profile isn't. I could be wrong about the approval I've gotten, but, in the context of the conversation I had with Asura, I am assuming I am. Please review this profile while keeping in mind the intended role the character will be filling.
I know it's common nature to focus on the zanpakutō for abilities but I thought I'd bring the following to your attention so no one can get all butthurt if I use these abilities and try to claim they weren't there before.
1- Hana has a "liquid metal" prosthetic left arm which she mostly used for labwork but can be used in combat. It's main use is everyday convenience, now that she is no longer associated with the Juunibantai.
2- Hana is more of a planner than a "beat it bloodless" sort of person. She doesn't like wasting her time and energy in combat and I have regularly incorporated scientific reasoning and chemical knowledge as well as my own understanding of physics and a few other concepts into my writing. A good example of this would be my last fight, with this character as an adult and experienced captain, against two green lieutenants. When an electrically-based trap was sprung on my character, I avoided certain death by using an ice-based kidō because I know pure water, without contaminating ions, is actually non-conductive. This is how I write. I do take damage, however.
3- Hana's reiatsu has a softening ability, like taking butter out of the fridge and leaving it on the counter. It creates fog which she can direct and thicken.
4- I included a few forbidden Kidō. The major ones I'm worried about are the spatial ones. Kūkanten'i only had one use which was related to a hallway in her former office. It's there for the sake of record-keeping and to attest to her prowess as a Master practitioner. Jikanteishi will only be used for healing purposes and has rather implicit limitations.
5- I have created a Hakuda attack(Maddohattā Zutsuki) and a few Kidō(Gomu-dan, Gomukabe, and Gomu tebukuro) which I'd like approved. Hana will be the only known practitioner of these techniques and people will have to go through a one-on-one training PRP with me. I'd love it if you focused on them. As a note, the Kidō can all be destroyed by stronger attacks and will all eventually corrode on their own from vibrating too hard.
6- Due to her history and interests, she has a limited capacity for healing Kidō.
7- Her zanpakutō is not geared to destroy things with huge concentrations of spiritual energy. Spiritual weapons like zanpakutō and quincy bows, as well as heavily reinforced defenses such as a hierro or powerful Kidō have either full or partial immunity. (It's only logical that things designed to last should be harder to destroy.)
That's about everything, I think.

HI ALANNAA I'M IN HERE TOO. I'M GONNA BE HUECO MUNDO KING IF ASURA LETS ME.
Anyways, I just have a question here. It could make you wanna change some things up, I dunno.
The liquid metal arm thing, how does that affect combat? Can it be used in combat, other than turning into a blade or some s**t? And as a secondary thing, how does it affect bankai? Is it equally covered with the sheathe of light you describe, or does it change somewhat with the transformation?

Is it equally covered with the sheathe of light you describe, or does it change somewhat with the transformation? Dat capslock. Well, the prosthetic was always meant to be fun, and unique, but it does have all the combat applications you might assume. The big purpose of the "liquid" aspect was to give focus to her fine motor control and make it so she could effectively run around without a knapsack full of tools and utensils. But the actual concept of the wound is only a few months younger than the character-from back when she was a bit more zany and had a husband and kid. Hana is intended to be a bit less than human, both in her personality and her body. She's always been a tech buff so it fits that part of her own body is techy. However, the lack of a natural arm is a memento of her origin, and something I maintain as a reminder of the past. I've always maintained her bankai covers this arm, as it never considered the limb missing. I haven't considered any sort of combination ability, it actually seems like trying to combine them would probably just hurt her shoulder. Does that answer things? Oh! And the prosthetic can be used really delicately, but Hana has a hard time trying to deviate from what she's used to. She has to focus, especially if she wants to do something stellar.

It's just that I've never seen it used in combat, is all. It's rare to see Hana get her panties in enough of a knot to actually duke it out. Thanks bewbew <3
