In the deepest reaches of Andalusa, past the Sky Basin, plazas and even the defaced private quarters of the now dead Blood Barons, there is a wide tunnel. It's entrance is black, and no torches are lit past the adequate black portcullis that hangs like waiting teeth above the darkness.
The way down this tunnel is dark, and only gets darker as the last light from the last torches is swallowed in the blackness. It is wide enough to walk without fear of striking an obstacle, but still the pitch black makes it impossible for anyone to walk with ease unless they have a means to see.
Those who can see in the dark would notice measured rows of torchless sconces on the carved tunnels walls; decorations made of bone and ruby. Through this tunnel, it is damp and cool. There is a faint, faint scent of copper, aged but unable to escape this windless place. Blind eyes searching for any illumination would see ghostly pulses of blue-gray light along the floor. Further progress, and the lights grow barely brighter, rhythmically glowing in patches on the ground and walls. It would be enough light to see the spectral outline of the tunnel, comprehend it's size -some 10 meters wide and nearly 115 meters in length- and see its walls yawn out into greater darkness.
Only after reaching the far side of the tunnel does one truly grasp the nature of this place. In a cavern nearly as large as The Sky Basin, contours illuminated with the ghostlight of the cave fungi, is a large black tower. It reached up from the ground and into the cavern's rock fanged ceiling. The smell of blood is more apparent here than anywhere else. The echoes of water and unseen motion are swallowed in the space of the cavern; and other sounds almost like voices haunt its furthest spaces.
The tower's entrance no longer has a door. The mossy remnants of it remain shattered and discarded by its threshold. Beyond it is a short hall and then another door -this one intact and new. Beyond it lies a round chamber centered by an ornate table of stone surrounded by plush chairs untouched by the moisture outside. There is old blood on the floor; the walls; the chairs; the table; the tapestries. New maps, and documents are visible on the table , but unreadable in the nearly unnavigable darkness. Beyond, a breathtaking stair and banister carved from the tower rock itself, with naked stone etchings where gold was once inlaid. What lies beyond is best left unsaid.
This was once the Ul'Thran Tower, The Blood Baron's unholy gathering place of sacrifice and slaughter. Here, they supped on the blood of babies and defiled their harems. Here, they charted the plans that brought the tribes beneath a century of slavery, and plotted the systematic rape of their culture and wealth. It was here where they planned their revenge against the Were-Serpent Azur and the Anima Krayth, and here where they made their final stand against the interlopers rebellion. Here is where they died.
The tribesmen do not come here. No one does. It is said that the ghosts of all of Andalusia's dead sunk down into this place, and that Blood Barons still watch and whisper their commands. They do not. Simple shadow play and tricks of sound. Superstition is a powerful deterrent. Now, it is a secret sanctuary to The Void, Lord Adellos and Krayth's secret meeting room, and a safehouse for questing Dark Avengers.
