National Twilight Zone Day May 11th, 2012
This is just an ordinary town. Or is it? And this is an ordinary boy. Or is he? In The Twilight Zone, nothing is what it seems. This classic TV show, created and narrated by Rod Serling, aired from 1959 to 1964, and since then has had two modern revivals. Each episode was a self-contained sci-fi, fantasy story and almost always ended with a surprising twist. Like maybe today isn't Twilight Zone Day after all. Or is it?
Kefkadragon
Your just like my mother! I like coconut but she hates it with a passion.
Saber Talawyrm
It's the texture of it. I'm okay with the flavor and I like canned coconut milk fine, I just don't like fresh or shaved/shredded coconut. >_<; kefkadragon
That's what my mom says to. Well, she hates the flavor to.

Limerick Day
When: May 12th
Limerick Day celebrates the birthday of Writer Edward Lear (1812-188 cool . It also, of course, celebrates Limerick poems. Limericks were popularized by Lear in 1846 in his Book of Nonsense".
This day is a time to enjoy and get your fill of Limerick poems. We are so glad that it came along to brighten up our lives. Celebrate Limerick Day in style by writing a Limerick or two of your own. Or, sit down and read a few humorous Limericks. They are guaranteed to make you smile.
A Limerick is a humorous verse or poem. It is five lines longs. It's name come from the city of Limerick, Ireland. The first two lines rhyme with the fifth line rhyme. The third and fourth lines rhyme.
Did you know? Limerick is the third largest city in Ireland.
Origin of Limerick Day:
Our research easily uncovered he reason why we celebrate Limerick Day. ...it celebrates the Limerick, and honors the birth of Limerick writer Edward Lear. However, we found little information pointing us to who created this day. Whoever it was, we're glad they did!

National Pack Rat Day May 17th, 2012
Attics and basements were meant for storing old junk. But a pack rat asks, 'Why stop there? If we park the cars in the driveway we can also fill up the garage. And while we're at it, let's just live on the back deck and then we can use the whole house for storage.' Some may criticize the pack rat for living a life of clutter, but the pack rat lives by the motto 'waste not, want not.' And who knows, some of that stuff might be worth a lot of money some day' if they can ever part with it.

It's all about food with me right now...
National Devil's Food Cake Day May 19th, 2012
Its name is evil but its taste is heavenly. Devil's food cake is simply a variety of chocolate cake that uses cocoa, instead of chocolate, and adds a little kick of coffee to shake things up. See? Nothing to be afraid of.

It's Lucky Penny Day. Perhaps a Lucky Penny will be lucky for you today.
Taken at face value, a penny doesn't buy you much, if anything. It used to. During your parents and grandparents days, a penny bought a lot of things. Most notably, Penny Candy got its name because a piece of candy cost a penny. Inflation year after year after year, eroded the penny's value. There has even been some discussion as to whether to discontinue the penny....Heaven forbid!
The penny still serves a very useful purpose... at least some of them are lucky pennies. Lucky pennies are found on the ground. Not all of the pennies you find will be lucky. But, it will only take one lucky penny used to scratch off the mega winner on a scratch-off ticket.
Are you superstitious? Superstition has it that you should only pick up a penny that is lying face up.
Here are some other uses for pennies:
A penny for your thoughts. To put your "two cents" in. A necessity for penny pinchers A handy screwdriver when nothing else is available.
Thought: for Today: "A penny for your thoughts."

How could you miss Towel Day? emotion_smilies/icon_jawdrop.gif
Quote: Towel Day is celebrated every year on 25 May as a tribute by fans of the late author Douglas Adams. On this day, fans carry a towel with them to demonstrate their appreciation for the books and the author, as referred to in Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The commemoration was first held in 2001, two weeks after Adams' death on 11 May 2001.
And it's Wear the Lilac Day too. How can you get Geek Pride Day and neither of those. *Is such a nerd.*

June 1st is Dare Day. Quote: Dare Day is a day to challenge someone, and to do a dare yourself. It's a day that daredevils truely relish. Today is definitely a call to action. It is not a day for procrastinators or for hesitation.
And while I don't consider it esoteric, June 1st also marks the beginning of Gay Pride Month.
