[M]ission [S]tatement
Shizūmi-taichō Unlike the other twelve squads, we of the Jūnibantai are not barbarians or neanderthals. We stand tall as one of the most important squads. Without us, the Gotei 13 would not have the knoweledge and functionality it has now. We are the scientists, the miracle-workers. Disciplined to a tee in order to let our curiosity flourish. Warning: don't mess with us - the consequences are too complex for you to comprehend!
[D]uties The 12th Division develops new technology and spiritual tools and its been the home of the S.R.D.I. for many centuries. As such technological and scientific research has become the full measure of what the division involves itself in primarily. Members are tasked with research and collection of data and samples, something both the current and previous Captains are very enthusiastic about, though not to the same extreme. The 12th Division is also regularly consulted with matters pertaining to science or technology. They have been given the special task of overseeing the maintenance of and flow of traffic through the Dangai Precipice.
Currently the squad is in a state of frenzy and has initiated self-maintaining command protocol in the absence of Captain Shizūmi and Lieutenant Muyo. All work not related to the Taizai threat has been abandoned. Personel are charged with researching and analyzing all data on the enemy and developing countermeasures to known enemy capabilities and tactics. Observation Deck Alpha has been reassigned to monitoring a Captain-class expedition into enemy territory. Observation Deck Delta is to monitor the bridge via the Dangai Precipice. No other specializations in duty have been made apparent at this time.

[R]ules
Guild rules are, of course, in full effect within this squad. We may bend reality, but we have a way for doing it! So long as you cooperate, things don't have to get ugly.
1. Maintain proper decorum. In this case, don't "cheat." Godmodding, auto-anything, taking advantage of OOC occurances...Not okay, at all. If I catch you commiting one of these horrid sins, you're screwed. Click for the universal Roleplaying-for-Dummies Guide. And yes, I know a tomahawk doesn't much stand up to, say, Ulquiorra's Lance-of-Death(not the actually meaning, I know). But you get the general picture. At this point the Gaia TOS is sacred, but you knew that.
2. Follow the guidelines. If the thread happens to be of need, it will have a small set of personal rules located somewhere within the first few posts. These little tips are absolutely beneficial to your writing experience and will invariably address important points of interest. You could ignore them, sure, but then you'll mess up horribly and I am unforgiving. So, don't ignore the rules.
3. Courtesy is vital. We're all human here, people! Behind the screen, behind the pixels dressed in exotic or fetching outfits, we're all the same. We have a common obsession -Bleach RPs- so act like it. Derogatory statements, flaming, and so-called "trolling" will not be supported here. If that's the sort of experience you're after and you want to ruin someone else's time or have your experience ruined, you can leave. No skin off my teeth.
4. Make contact, please. Now, I could care less what your social standing is with your fellow squadmates, so long as you can at least work together on occasion. However, if you have some sort of issue which prevents you from writing to the best of your ability, you'd best let me know using some means or another. If you absolutely cannot work with someone or are dealing with personal issues or have scheduling issues to tend to, Its always best to warn me. Otherwise you may lose your seat.
5. Be active. Oh, here's the fun one. Normally people will hound you to keep posting without really threatening you. I utilize a time limit. What that means is only one week may pass between your in character posts. No more than seven days on the head. Fail to comply without viable reason, and you're back down to unseated. I know what you're thinking: "Oh, she has to fill seats. And what seat you are matters too much so she won't do something so difficult to make sensible in the story." Think again and read number six in its entirety.
6. Rank value. Yes, it is true that a Lieutenant could probably very easily hold off one, possibly even several of the lower-ranked shinigami. As one got progressively farther down the list, the effort would become increasingly more strenuous. In terms of activities which pit you against eachother for sport, respect the power gap between ranks. When addressing your Captain or Lieutenant, respect that each one easily has the ability to disembowel you and string you up like a pinata in a fight. When challenging for another's rank, you stand on par. When going about daily duties, treat eachother as equals. Rank doesn't decide, capability does.
7. You are not god. If you can't argue the merits of your work successfully, you can't do it. Understand that you are limited by the world around you. Maintain a healthy understanding of your capabilities and the technology available to you.

[L]ocations
Barracks Like all the other barracks, the 12th Division Barracks house the offices and living quarters of the Shinigami of the 12th. During the captaincy of Kisuke Urahara, he converted part of the 12th Division into the then newly formed Shinigami Research and Development Institute. Since then, new buildings appear to have been erected for the Shinigami Research and Development Institute, complete with its own gate and all. Mayuri also ran a cosmetic surgery clinic called Charismatic Dr. Mayuri Kurotsuchi's Magical Clinic ((カリスマDr.[ドクター]涅マユリの マジカル☆クリニック, Karisuma Dr.[Dokutā] Kurotsuchi Mayuri no Majikaru Kurinikku) from the buildings controlled by the 12th Division. It has since been converted into a guest house for anyone stupid crazy brave enough to impose upon the division's hospitality. The operations of the clinic have been moved into the main division complex.
The Shinigami Research and Development Institute (技術開発局, Gijutsukaihatsu Kyoku; lit. "Technological Development Department", The Department of Research and Development in English Dub) is an organization within Soul Society.
Functions and Duties: ■ The main function of the S.R.D.I. is to research and develop new technology and spiritual tools. They have invented countless items. Throughout the day and night, experiments are conducted at the Reinō Spiritual Ability Research Facility to develop new spiritual tools and instruments. The department brings together the Soul Society's top technicians, who were recruited by Hana Shizūmi. ■ The second function of the S.R.D.I. is to measure spiritual waves and oversee communications. The Spiritual Wave Measurement Lab closely monitors the world of the living to ensure spiritual stability. The Communications Research Section oversees transmissions between the human world and Soul Society, carrying out the other important function of the institute. If an incident occurs, things become pretty hectic, but otherwise, it is usually slow.
Sub-Labs: ■ Reinō Spiritual Ability Research Facility: to develop new spiritual tools and instruments. ■ Spiritual Wave Measurement Lab (電波計測研究科, Denpa Keisoku Kenkyūka; lit. "Wave Measurement Department"): closely monitors the world of the living to ensure spiritual stability. ■ Communication Research Section (通信技術研究科, Tsūshingijutsu Kenkyūka; lit. "Communication Technology Research Department"): Oversees transmissions between the human world and Soul Society. This lab is responsible for the development of communication technology, including soul cellphones.
