rmcdra Lexima I also see plenty of people praying for selfish reasons. Things like "I didn't save enough money to pay the bills this month. I'm praying for God to give me money in the form of handouts from friends and family." I prefer to think along these lines. That praying won't necessarily change what's coming. eek I'm actually at a loss for words. Since when did asking for charity become selfish? The god of vengeance that you are promoting is not just. Without mercy there is no justice. Praying for riches is wrong... But I agree... God of Love and Mercy would give Charity.

Wait... so keeping your home, keeping your family safe, alive, and healthy is selfish? That is what paying the bills is... You seem to be mixing up praying for a decent income of money, for praying to win lotto.

Qyp Praying for riches is wrong... But I agree... God of Love and Mercy would give Charity. If you mean praying for wealth for the sake of wealth then yes I agree with you. The trouble is that we don't know why these people are praying for riches though, it's outside our scope and we can't see what's in their heart. Maybe they pray for riches because it's a means to an end like some sort of surgery or to better take care of others? People that aren't very reflective tend to ask for what will give them the means to their ends nor realize that money doesn't solve everything, in particular problems that are of a mental and/or spiritual nature. Anyway I just don't know what's going through their heads so I try not to judge since it's not my place in this sort of situation.

Oh, I'm only talking about the cases where people don't try to help themselves first. By analyzing their expenses and budgeting to avoid getting into that situation in the first place. I just don't think he should be called on for every little thing, because then it looks like we're not even trying, doesn't it?

Also have you introduced yourself yet? I'm Robert. Nice to meet you.

I wasn't raised on Christianity, so I tend to be a bit ignorant and full of my own opinions. sweatdrop

It's being able to recognize it when it happens. We are a pretty diverse group here so we are bound to disagree on certain points.

It sorta confuses me as well to be honest. However my prayers end up usually being more like a conversation then a list of things I want Him to do. So I wonder... are our prayers suppose to be a list of things we want him to do anyway?
(don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I don't do that at all)
