This expedition is under the leadership of Dheron, played by thyPOPE and guided by constantLogic.

The following humans are under the command of Dheron:

Played by Mystaira: Alexis Stafford - This guy makes you think of a billowing sandstorm. He has deep-set violet eyes that are like two amethysts. His thick, wavy, white hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a pennant blowing in the wind. He is short and has a wide-chested build. His skin is chocolate-brown. He has small feet. His wardrobe is complicated and unusual, with a lot of blue.

Played by Silver_tigress18: Madeline Clarice Sherman - This lady reminds you of an immovable mountain. She has narrow blue eyes. Her silky, curly, rust-colored hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a dustball. She is tall and has a wasp-waisted build. Her skin is white. She has wide feet. Her wardrobe is elaborate, with a lot of white and green.

Played by TanuKyle: Trisha Angela Davidson - This dishonest girl has slanted red eyes. Her thick, wavy, apricot-colored hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a strange headdress. Played by Yvessa: Cheri Noble - This girl reminds you of a glorious phoenix. She has wide blue eyes that are like two pools of water. Her luxurious, wavy, milky-white hair is very short and is worn in a businesslike, simple style. She is very short and has a slender build. Her skin is light-colored. She has a pointed chin and small feet. Her wardrobe is sexy and unconventional, with a lot of purple.

Played by Walkinthevoid: Inez Bond - This lazy woman has large brown eyes that are like two splotches of mud. Her silky, curly, crimson hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a rooster's crest. She is short and has an amazonian build. Her skin is white. She has a wide forehead and prominent ears. Her wardrobe is plain.

Played by -Sarcasmic Naru: Lionel Richard - This man makes you think of a vicious barracuda. He has narrow brown eyes that are like two splotches of mud. "Have a nice trip!"

The AI's last words echo in the air as the leader's communicator crackles, then dies. The airbus overhead turns and zips away with a faintly lasting whirr, disappearing quickly over the mass of trees now that its cargo is deposited. The group is left standing at the base of a tall metal beacon; it stretches upward into the air, reaching over the trees to transmit data back to the central Labs. All around, alien trees twist and stretch toward the sky, their curling branches and frond-like leaves soaking in the planet's pure sunlight.

It is a small clearing, big enough to hold the crew and the beacon, but the wildlife is already encroaching upon it eagerly. Vines can be seen trying to creep over the pole's base, and the rough-hacked path leading back to the Labs is already overgrown. It is easy for the explorers to see why airlifting to these outward spots was a better idea than trying to hack through the woods.

The communicator crackles to life again, and CaTDOS's voice splits the air, his words stringing together in a sing-song manner.

"Alright, adventurers~ It's time to begin~ Everyone, remember to keep your data transmitters active at all time~ It will constantly analyze and stream information back to us, so make sure you don't lose it, no matter what~" A face flickers onto the communicator's screen, a very distinct, pixelated '+ w+' expression. "Take a moment to introduce yourselves, but then please begin~ You are to enter the jungle away from the previously cut path~ Your goal is to find anything of interest that you can, particularly new species~ Please remember, be very careful~ Who knows what's lurking out there~? CaTDOS out~!"

The group’s leader is a bright young Tekimi, a lithe orange teenager with frilly fins sticking out every which way. He glances at the communicator and, worriedly, sticks it in his back pocket. “I’m Dheron,” he says, turning his solidly black eyes to the group. “How many of you can swim?

That’s more important than knowing anyone’s name, of course. He knows that the first thing he’s searching for is water – he figures that it’s best to play to his strengths, and he also figures that a source of water is good for everyone. What better than a place to swim? Not that there aren’t bathtubs in the labs, but, well. Life underwater tends to be colorful, too. And oceans have salt, right? Salt tastes great on food.

Okay, maybe he’s just trying to find something familiar. But who can blame him? The jungle is full of alien sounds and sights, and while he doesn’t doubt that an ocean would also be, he knows that he’d be more familiar with an ocean. The air around him seems humid, so he doesn’t think he’s going to have a chance of catering to his other half. Besides, he likes to keep his fins moisturized. “Finding water is going to be one of my top priorities.

He hopes that the adventurers under his command don’t question him. Water has tons of biodiversity, right?

Inez Bond: Like, total hippie.
Notes: This place is like, totally rad! Dheron is fun to say. Deehherrrrooooon. Dheeeerrrroooon. Dhhhhheron. Awesome.

Inez yawned and stretched, taking in the fresh air and sounds of the forest. It was a really peaceful day. Even the whine of the airbus engines couldn’t take away the peacefulness of this magical forest. I mean, just look at those trees! Frond like leaves thrusting their way towards pure, unadulterated sunlight. Even that metal beacon, or that path couldn’t mess up the vibes of this forest. It was like, home. She could, like, totally live here.
Her communicator crackled, but she ignored it. It wasn’t as important as the, like, fantastic way the sunlight fell on her face. Maybe this time she’d get a tan.
Inez usually burned rather than tanned, and no matter what she tried, she either burned or stayed pale. She didn’t ever want to go to those solariums, or use fake chemicals on her skin. That was, like, bad for the environment, and her body. Her body was a temple. If she could help it, she ate only organic.
Inez thought this place was totally fantastic. I mean, that leader dude was totally rad, all those oranges and stripes and stuff. He had totally amazing hair, it was like, silky and stuff. He had horns too, and random fins sticking out of him. He reminded her of that fish...
What was it called again?
Oh yeah, a lion fish. Yeah, he was this total lion fish boy.

He was saying something right? “I’m Dheron,” He said. What a fantastic name, so fun to say. Woah, and he had like, totally black eyes. Inez wondered if they were real or fake. “How many of you can swim?”
The question was like, totally random to Inez, but she raised her hand. Swimming was awesome, and this place would be awesome to swim in. She hadn’t bothered to pack swimmers, but she could, like, swim in her underwear or something.
She had only packed one pair, but she was sure some of these other guys would have something to borrow.
“Finding water is going to be one of my top priorities.”
Top priorities? Dude, this guy spoke like an encyclopedia.
“Dude!” She said lazily, her face to the sun. “Chill! Things will happen, man. Just let nature guide us! Mother nature knows what she’s doing, man.”

Trish had laughed when she saw their fearless leader; a delicate ******** flower of a boy all light gills and flashy colours. Wouldn't last a day in the real world. Only; and her face twisted, soured - this was the real world wasn't it. Everything going to pot. Outwardly, Trish smiled, nodded and made encouraging noises to whatever nonsense people were mumbling. This had always been her greatest gift - subterfuge. And drive, perhaps. Flaunting your cleavage at the boss so he noticed you instead of the others - willing to backstab but clever enough to deflect blame, innocent and wide-eyed and bloody handed.

And what an inane question - who could swim. If people weren't prepared for a high-risk enviroment they shouldn't have signed up. Following the miscreant in -front of her's example, she'd raised a hand. She could also mountain climb, abseil, survive in the wilderness and knew basic first aid, as well as being an aspiring scientist. This expedition was going to take her places, she knew it.

"Insects, fish or amphibians are going to be the most likely new species; relatively simply structures. A good choice the water."

She fluttered her eyelashes just a little and gave a winning smile - her revealing outfit did most of the work but it never helped to subtly accentuate.

The group had barely moved an inch when, instead of the typical way of hunting, the chase slowly began creeping towards them.

Really. There was no other word for what the creatures were doing but creeping. Sliding along the ground, perhaps, in more or less the same fashion anyone from Earth would expect to find a snail moving along a leaf.

User Image Adorable, yet alien in nature, the group of four yet undiscovered creatures slid along the ground toward the group, harmless and seemingly searching for food, their top set of tentacles waving around as though caught in a gentle breeze.

"You should observe them for awhile!"

The receiver piped in on its own, digital emoticons blazing across all the screens excitedly.

"We don't have this one on file yet! It looks like you've found something already!"

Safe Active Phase: Roll 1d10 for observation if desired. Otherwise note "PASS" at
the bottom of the post. Goal is: high roll.

Dheron was not particularly responsive to seduction, or people enamored with him (he preferred his own body to anyone else's, and he knew well that he was a beauty king. Hearing someone else admire him or his name didn't have much of an effect on him.), but he smiled at his group anyway. He had a sweet smile, if a little unnerving. "I'm sure things will happen, but that isn't quite the goal of this expedition." He paused, and glanced over at the human in the revealing outfit.

He didn't begrudge her that at all. He preferred to walk about shirtless, himself. "Yes, I thought so as well. The water always has a rich ecosystem." He glanced over at the rest of the group, who'd been...well, silent. "I wouldn't mind hearing your names, by the way - I apologize for not asking sooner." He'd been a little rude, hadn't he?

He had been about to indicate that the swimmers pair off with the non-swimmers (he could take two of them along, he was sure) when he noticed the adorable little things gliding their ways toward the group.

"Oh, they're so cute!" he squealed. (Clearly Dheron was not the most mature leader.) He tried to get a closer look - were those tentacles? Tentacles were so adorable.

[[ h-he's attempting an observation roll. ]]

When Dheron had spoken earlier, Cheri raised her hand along with the rest of the swimmers of the group, but she was silent and distracted, staring at the forest in wide-eyed wonder. The leader's apology brought her back to the present, a reflexive little smile on her lips.

"Oh, I'm Cheri. And there's no need to apologize. We do have a whole trip ahead of us to get to know each other, and there are so many interesting things to look at." As if right on cue, the creatures made their appearance. Cheri's little smile widened.

"Adorable!" she agreed with beaming enthusiasm. "I like the tentacles." She watched them creep along the jungle floor for a moment, then added, "I wonder what they eat."

[Hope I did this right -- Cheri observes!]

"I'm Trish."

The words were spoken almost absent-mindedly though as the woman leant down to give a closer look at the little creatures. They were kind of cute, but she was interested totally scientifically. Yeah.

so....adorable....

Alexis looked like he was part of a landscape, fluffy white hair like a cloud, draped clothing layers of various shades of blue like an ocean or the sky. Perhaps his skin a lone mountain in that ocean. He too had raised his hand about swimming. You don't take on the appearance take could be taken as an ocean if you can't swim, somebody might get ideas. "Name's Alexis. You may call me Alex if you must."

When the cute little creatures came upon the group, Alexis rushed forward towards them getting as close as possible. Obviously not considering that while they might seem harmless now, they might not be if he got to close. Oh well, closer is better for observing right? And they were rather cute.

Inez Bond: Like, total hippie.
Notes: Oh. My. GOD. I want them I want them I want them I want them I want them!

Inez stopped listening as the Lionfish guy kept speaking. He had a nice voice, but what did words mean to the balance of nature, man?
Something else had caught her attention.
They were… totally adorable. Inez wanted to take them all home and introduce them to her cats – they would all get along so well! She would call that one Foofinator, and that one Squidgee, and that one Ralph… They were, like, adorable, she just wanted to hug them ‘till they popped.
Dheron seemed to agree, because he squealed at the same time she did.
“We just gotta take them along! Mother nature has sent us some mascots!”
She got down on her hands and knees, waving a hand towards the nearest creature that slithered peacefully along the forest floor, tentacles waving.

“OH Who’s a squoodgiewoodgie boogaboooo?” She crooned, before lapsing into incomprehensible baby talk.

(She's actually attempting to draw one over, presumably to hug it or kidnap it)
