Does anyone actually role play in their MMOs? I remember when I played Lineage 2 there was a role play group and it looked like they had a lot of fun. They leveled up together and had a very in depth story. By the time I wanted to try it out the RP group quit and now it seems so hard to find people who want to do it.
I know Tera Online has a RP server but I wonder if people actually do it. xD

Hmm... not me. I never liked RP'ing. I've always wondered why people would RP rather than level up, get geared up and fight against other players. :/ I do have a whole background story of my main character in my head and draw him instead of roleplaying with him.
...you could say I'm a closet (art) RP'er? sweatdrop

I'm a HUGE MMO RPer. I can't ever join an MMO and not RP. There's a difference though whether I RP with people or by myself, and that depends on the community.

I really get into the RP'ing in my head. I -am- that character, the incredible face-destroyer etc, etc...
You know. I'd do it in an MMO, but I'm more into the action-RPG genre lately.

I never RP in MMO's. Mostly because doing anything that requires communication via a chat box is bloody annoying. I do my roleplaying tableside instead, where communication is easier.

I don't RP in-game. I find it unwieldy and, oddly enough, immersion breaking. I do however write back stories for my characters out-of-game. I'm a huge fan of lore and staying true to lore is a big deal to me.

Yes.. ;
Oh god yes..
I rped with the same people for 5 years over various games and usually we would come up with our own plot and such while sticking true to the game's lore. If you can find the right people for it, it makes the game so much better.
Before that I had a 3 year long story going on Runescape with a few of my friends before they quit. It was excellent motivation to grind up skills so we could do the next part of the story, we even tied in in-game quests with our rps. ;
I also always write a backstory for my characters, especially in sandbox games like Oblivion and Skyrim, where it's usually my main motivation to play. (Otherwise it's just this huge grindy game where I'm running around doing stuff for nearly no reason..)
Fable 2 it was fun to do that on, deciding my character's motivations and having that influence his decisions.~ It felt like Fable 3 didn't execute that very well though.

I used to role play a fair bit in Star Wars Galaxies and had a lot of fun. Since then... not so much. I just haven't found a good role playable MMO. I was hoping that Star Wars: The Old Republic would have more role play, and even though I'm on the second largest RP server in the US, I rarely see any RP going on. Unfortunately, unlike in SWG, there isn't much place to RP in the game, there are no open social areas to do it in. And the emotes leave something to be desired...
But even so, I always write big, lengthy biographies for my main characters in any MMO I play for a length of time.
