Shehk looked at the date on the book and frowned. 1999. That was around the time when she'd......No, she wouldn't think about that. So many students were probably young around then and she was barely undead......
Wow.. she was old.
"Hmm, 1999. I... I feel like I know that number from somewhere." She was lying, though not obviously. She knew exactly what that number was about. Especially because it was a year. She needed to tell Shun about the book being in the archives when she went back to the room.
"This date was mentioned somewhere and I can't remember where. It might be good to remember this is here." she admitted that much, however.

Chuppi raised her brows, uncertain if Shehk was hiding something or not. The small monster usually could smell blood, feel the rush and pounding of people's hearts, so living creatures very seldom could lie to her. Since her companion was an undead with a non-beating heart there wasn't anything to do but that didn't stop the chupacabra from looking the priccoli in the face with serious doubt. "If...if you say so." The suspicion was evident in her voice, Chuppi was much to honest a person for her own good. She would not press the issue, not if Shehk had been so upset before from people prying, so she had nothing to do but accept it.
She ran her finger over a few of the glyphs, her sharp nail almost tearing into one of the pages. A look of panic spread over her face entire and she pulled her hands back, turning to Shehk.

She could hear the suspicion too. She wasn't as obvious as she could have been, but she also wasn't very sneaky either. "I'll have to confirm my thoughts before I say too much, just in case I'm wrong." She relented further, looking over the runes curiously. They were fantastic, really.
In a creepy way. Did the Horsemen make them? She wasn't sure.
Still, when Chuppi accidentally ripped the page and looked up at her, Shehk looked back with an 'uh oh' look on her face before glancing around to see if anybody had seen what had just happened.
"I think..nobody saw that.." she whispered quietly.

She flexed her fingers and closed the book, not wanting to do any more damage. If Shehk said no one noticed then she hoped that and wasn't going to press that issue. However she did pry, slightly, but she kept her words even and polite. "If...if it is not too much trouble, will you tell me what you learn? I. . . want to know more, so I am not ignorant like the others. I am of Amittyville and of Halloween, so I. . . I want to be of use to someone." Chuppi looked so earnest and she clasped her hands together, almost pleading.

Shehk leaned forward, her voice a whisper:
"When you were in the trial of death, did you see any pieces of paper or anything that had writing on it?" she asked. If Chuppi had seen it, then she could maybe confirm her suspicions right then.

Chuppi's face paled and she nodded her head, remembering seeing things while she had moved around and before she'd been placed in the cages. "The...I know that year as well, it does seem...so familiar." Was that the code she needed to say, to show Shehk she understood? They didn't need to say it aloud, both girls easily knew what was being spoken without words.
1999. Apocalypse.
If...then the runes? What would they have been used for, an ending of the world? It made her think of what she had heard during Trance. Was that time in the tunnels part of it? "Then, the tunnels?" Her voice was so quiet.

Shehk frowned. "I don't know." she admitted, sitting back in her seat and trying to not look to conspiratorial. "But we now know how this is related to that trial....." she paused, her hand going to her neck, feeling the familiar sensation of burning. So much burning, it devoured her flesh...
Shehk actually visibly shook at the memory before she shook herself out of it, smoothing a hand through her hair with a deep breath. "Maybe we shouldn't be looking at that...just in case." Her tone implied that they shouldn't have been looking at it right then.

"Yo comprendo." Chuppi mentioned that she understood and pushed herself to her feet, landing on the floor with a heavy thud. It suddenly felt like there were entirely too many eyes in the library for her taste even though it seemed there was no one else around. "This makes me nervous."
Her fingernails clacked together as her hands nervous tapped.

Shehk nodded, slowly standing up as Chuppi went to return the book, giving another glance over the room with a small frown.
"I... I think I need to go back to the dorms and check my information, though...." she frowned. She knew Chuppi was right about it, but still. She knew she needed to inform people about what they'd found. Perhaps people who weren't on the island, even.
It made her nervous.
It was a strange mirroring of the duo, really, with all the nerves.

"I will go back with you, we should go." Without thinking Chuppi reached over and took Shehk's hand in the same manner she often held hands with others when she walked. It was more or less a motion meant for comfort and as soon as she realized what she'd done she dropped her hand away, blushed, and started quickly for the door. "I will meet you in the dorms." Her pace was practically a run as she left.
Well, that had been awkward.
