Order taker must have miss heard you or accidentally pressed the wrong button without realizing it. Accidents happen.. The employees are human too.
As for the fries, yeah... On slow nights some employees get lazy and instead of wasting old fries and putting down new ones, they just let the old ones get served.. That was my biggest pet peeve as a crew trainer.

Order unsalted ones. You wait longer but they are fresh. Either that or test them before you leave and if they are gross, tell them you want new and if they don't oblige request management. If management are lazy and dumb call the number on the reciept that usually brings you to the main manager and complain. If you don't leave customer remarks nothing will get done, and by all means ask everyone with poor service to call and complain. Also, don't leave the window until you've checked your order, if something is not there that you ordered, request it. If its not on the reciept you'll have to pay, obviously. You can also request they read your order back to you before you pay.

I've worked there before... I know how it works. I've actually seen a manager fired because he was talking on his personal phone to a friend instead of helping with a large order, causing us to wait 30 minutes and they didn't even give us fresh so we requested fresh, causing us to wait even longer. That was an angering night.

I worked in a duel lane drive thru.. People who did this during busy hours made me wanna grab them from their car and hold their head in the fry grease.
During slow hours.. This is okay.. Most likely the fries are not going to fresh and no one is behind you in the drive thru.
But during busy hours, we're constantly making fries.. They're fresh.. I promise. Now, if you really can't eat a bunch of salt.. I understand.
We also have designated drive thru parking spots for large orders or orders that add things on at back cash.. If there are four million cars lined up behind you.. Use one of those parking spots to check your order.


Oh and the manager.. I've got one better.. One of our managers uses the store phone for personal calls that are completely unimportant.. And he still works there. He also never covers his tattoos or wears a hair net/hat while working in the back.
I actually just quit McDonald's because of the favoritism and drama that went on.. It was ridiculous.. Perfectly good employees were getting shot down for the manager position because the managers were only recommending their friends.

Same here around the McDonald's I live around. They either get your order wrong or forget to add fries and when you ask for the fries you ordered they just look at you and go away to the back. That's why I can't stand eating there anymore poor customer service.
