Welcome to my journal! I'm Eljah_Black, but please call me Eljah.
I've been writing stories since fourth grade, but I was writing in some kind of diary or journal before that. I also like to think I've gotten better since then. ; ]
I enjoy writing novels, although I have written a few short stories and poems. I'm not sure if the poems are very good since I'm pretty biased towards them.
The genres I enjoy writing are realistic fiction, urban fantasy, and epic fantasy. They're also the books I like to read the most.
What I'll post here will most likely be thoughts on my writing and some updates. Feel free to come in and ask me questions or have a little chat! heart

Current Projects So far, most of my projects are in the planning/rough draft stage so I'm not very far in any of them. Ocean SecretsAbout a siren (which is like a mermaid, but needs to feed on human souls to survive) princess, Andina, who runs away from home because she doesn't want to murder other humans. She's half-mermaid so she isn't as dependent on human souls. Of course, not feeding results in her 'ugly' visage and she isn't very strong either. After running away she meets other mermaids, but because she's a siren they want to kill Andina. The merman prince speaks out for the girl, but only for his own selfish reasons. However, once Queen Sinistra of the sirens found out about Andina's location she flees toward land.
Status: Completely outlined. Needs some character profiles done, but otherwise ready for writing.Three Best Friends - Working Title
About three girls who become friends in high school and the different problems they face in life. Audrey deals with the death of her mother and her father inviting his other woman to live with them soon after. She goes into a rebellion which gets her into more trouble than she can handle. Rosa is the best athlete in the school, as well as the tallest girl standing at six feet and three inches. However, she's learning more about herself when she meets a new person in her life and Rosa realizes that maybe she never had a boyfriend because it was never a boy that she wanted. Becca struggles to live up to all the high standards that have been set on her all the while being verbally bullied relentlessly. It doesn't help when a teacher tries to comfort her too much.
Status: Character profiles need to be a little more flushed out. Needs an outline to help structure the plot. The Kids Next DoorLiving in a small town, Emma Walker and her brother, Joshua, have always been close. Except now that they’re getting older their feelings have started to change. Joshua was usually protective of her, but now he seems to be possessive of her. Emma isn’t sure how to react to all her brother’s attention and gifts. He tells her that he’s just doing his job as her brother, but do brothers buy their sisters lingerie? As Joshua’s advances continue Emma is conflicted with whether this is how love is or if it’s all part of shameful sin.
Status: Character outlines need to be filled out a little more. Outline almost done. Some writing done.Legend of the Reaper - Book One of Three
A school for Supers, also known as people with super powers. It's a private school that's going under the government's radar because the government is trying to use all of these Supers as military power. Every Super needs to register with the government. At least, that's what they're supposed to do. A lot of families don't register and they're trying to live a normal life. Two best friends, Jennifer Johnson and Elijah Bennett, attend this special school. However, when a villainous Super comes in as a substitute teacher, he has the whole student body captive as he tries to convert them into his own following. Jennifer leads the rebellian while Elijah leads the villains' cronies. Why does Elijah team with the villain? Well, it's because he's Elijah's father.
Status: Character profiles mostly done. Outline is mostly done. Ready for writing.

On the Back-Burner These are stories that I've thought up and would like to work on someday. However, they're not my main focus, I may take a break from my current projects to dabble in one of these. Isgold's Tale - Working Title
A high fantasy story about a man trying to gain a name for himself so he would be worthy to wed the girl of his dreams. It's also about a war that have wiped out a race that hold a great power.
Status: Needs a lot of story planning and setting structure. Is part of the Bigass Fantasyland Challenge.Demon Dog - Working Title
A girl, Suzanne, whose rough childhood resulted in her becoming mute by choice. She finds a stray dog on their yard on day and she decides to give it some food. The dog is actually a demon being punished and is cursed to stay in the form of the wolf-hybrid. As their friendship grows a new kid, Julian, comes to town who tries to make friends with Suzanne.
Status: Character profiles need to be a little more flushed out. Needs an outline to help structure the plot. Some back-story writing done. Ready for writing.InfectedSeven high school students have been infected with the deadly sins. As their personality succumbs to the sins it's up to the seven virtues to save them.

Claire had been living in Mineral Town for a couple years now and her farm is starting to reel in some good profit. However, she always makes time to enjoy her hobby: cooking. She looks forward to the cooking festival every year and she becomes quite good at it. Even a certain Gourmet starts to take notice.
Status: Outline is mostly done. Ready for writing.

10 APRIL 2012 I've joined another guild called 365 Days of Writing to help get me in the writing spirit. They also have a member journal, so here is where I'll be posting all the prompted pieces.
