I remmember hearing somewhere that so long as you have a boxers/MMA License, if someone throws the first punch at you or someone you are with and you have an eye witness, you will get off the hook no questions asked for fighting back (so long as you didn't use excessive force or pull out a weapon). Even if the man died in the process.
Is this true?
If it is I will find this very useful.

Google only brings up a s**t ton of training courses to get one.
It doesn't mention its usefulness outside the ring.

I thought you get off the hook regardless of having a boxers' license or not.

actually i believe it's the other way around-- if you get a boxing license, your fists are considered lethal weapons, and can land you in jail if you misuse them, similarly to firearms.
