Okay first of sorry, I know there are probably 10 million Hunger Games related threads and I could have just thrown this is in one of them probably, but...

To start have any of you ever been like really hung up on a book? Maybe that's not the best way to describe it. More like your emotions are consumed by it? I'm not sure exactly why, I've never felt like this after reading a book, but I just can't get over them and move on with what's happening in my life...
Over the past four days I have finally gotten around to reading the three books (and sacrificing 90% of my sleep to do so) and maybe it's just the need to talk about somethings that happened with someone...
I gotta honestly say, I don't like Katniss that much. I mean I like her a lot more at the end, or maybe just in the second book, but in the first book I think there was only one or two points in which I felt like I could relate to her in anyway and become that character. Usually for me that's a pretty big turn off to a book and I'd stop reading, but I really liked Peeta, and my friends want to see the movie, which I said not until I read the books!

I really don't like the end of the third book, I mean the epilogue is okay. Kind of creepy and vague, though the last few chapters in general are pretty vague so I guess that keeps the trend up. I'm really glad the ended up together, but I feel there were a lot of loose ends and missing explanations. The last chapter could have easily been longer and better.

I feel like writing about it is just raising more questions in my mind when I'm trying to get away from it...

So what do you think? Am I crazy letting myself get all hung up in this book?
I wonder if I would have liked it more if it was told from Peeta's point of view....

They're both so great! I really couldn't put the books down.
I have kind of, most of the way gotten over this bit of obsession that I had.
It was a little crazy though. I think seeing the movie may have started the decline in the kjfdhgskdjfg-ness of the whole thing.

I loved the books, but got confused at the end of the second and beginning of the third. Other than that it was a great series.
As for the movie, it was okay. There were a few differences between he two, but I really liked it.

My rating of both- 7/10

I liked the three books. I didn´t sacrifice my sleep for the books tho. I need my sleep.

I like Katniss, there is something about that girl that I cannot explain, but the further the books go, the more Katniss changes. I don´t know how to explain, but as I was reading the book I was constantly thinking "No, no no! I wouldn´t do that! I would´ve done it differently!".

I don´t really know why I liked the books so much. The story is pretty good, but not amazing, it is written very well, with "what ifs" and such, but there were moments that I was all "eh...?".

I actually liked the ending.

I liked and disliked the ending of the trilogy, explanation down in spoiler. It just seemed like ALL THE THINGS were put into that one book. I mean, the first two books were practically all about one event, the games. The third book had too much going on, and chapter 25 got quite confusing because of reasons.

The reason I didn't quite like the ending was because Finnick is dead, and Annie is supposedly left alone to raise a child...How? What even? But I guess she did seem to be less unstable in the third book, but that was mainly due to Finnick being by her side.
Also, Katniss saying that Peeta finally convinced her to have children did seem a bit creepy. I could have been written a bit better. But I definitely liked that she and Peeta ended up together.

Uk. burning_eyes
I read the first one and I can't see why people like it. To me the writing sucks and the plot is too simple. It's just a pointless book. There's nothing to it, man. I can write better then that. And I'd dress up the plot. rolleyes
No offense guys. Just when I don't like a book, I really don't like it.
And I'm not trying to challenge it, just stating my opinion.

The writing could've been better and there are admittedly parts I hated, but I loved the FIRST BOOK. The second and third books could go die in *static cut off*

Up until I bought the book in 8th grade I hadn't read anything like it, where kids were sent off to kill each other and there was a tyrannical government ruling over everyone. That, THAT, is what drew me to the series. The characters were kind of plastic to me. The relationship seemed way too forced and once I re-read the first one and finished the second book I realized "Oh, this is supposed to be a teen book." {Because at the time I still considered myself younger than teen but more mature than them. 8P Sue me.}

I was into the books before it got popular, just going to state that now. But I'm not obsessive over it. The only thing about it I obsess over is the actual Hunger Games, nothing else. I feel like she took a great idea and then ended up generalizing it. Even the rebellion just seemed out of place. Maybe if she had waited until after the Quarter Quell or just didn't make the rebellion happen at all... I dunno, it's a series with good ideas but bad performance.

THIS.
i like 'em, but i like the ones that came with the movies better, since i like seeing how the stuff is made.
it's my favorite genre, but after rereading it a couple of times...eh.
good first read, not so much for repeat reads, though from the books that are bonus to the movie, i can see what she was trying to get at.
i prefer Tamora Pierce, though. her characters are more realistic, and don't have split personalities.
c'mon, forceful one second, loving the next, then timid and then who knows what?
ANNOYING. the other two books don't do too well at choosing one part. ugu
