The Gym Leader frowned as the Woobat fell, emitting supersonic shrieks until he recalled it to its Pokeball. Though he had known that the Woobat would faint, he'd hoped to get it to last a little longer. As it was, he'd consigned himself to defeat - the Blitzle was going to be too much for his Pidgeotto to take. At the very least however, he could force his opponent down to one Pokemon and test his ability to stay cool under pressure. The Totodile must have been hurting from the special-based attacks it had taken and was in perfect position to be dispatched.

"Here we go. I choose you, Pidgeotto!" the leader called out, throwing his final Pokeball into the arena. The bird emerged in a blaze of light, cawing triumphantly as it sized up its opponent. "Alright, let's finish this guy off. Use Gust!" The Pokemon complied immediately, flapping its wings furiously to create a small windstorm around the reptile and cause damage.

((Alright, so the Blitzle goes first))

The Pidgeotto cried out in pain as the voltage from the attack coursed through its body. It almost collided back into the ground, but the steady encouragement from its trainer helped it to slowly Fly up towards the ceiling of the room, where it would be safe from further assaults. The Gym Leader cursed. He'd gambled a lot on having his Pidgeotto be faster. The bird wouldn't be able to take another Electric attack like that - or even a solid hit from one of the boy's other Pokemon. He'd have to avoid whatever the electric zebra threw at him next, then hope his attack hit, and THEN hope he could get off a Whirlwind and force it out before it dispatched his last Pokemon. It was a tough situation, but the leader refused to let it master him.

The Pidgeotto plunged down from the sky, shrieking as it plowed into the lightning zebra. Its claws raked across the Pokemon's face before the bird shot back into the sky, hovering back at it's normal height. Despite the damage inflicted from such a high-powered move, the Gym Leader knew that it wouldn't be enough. "Quick! Use Whirlwind!" he ordered. The bird began flapping its wings to push the Electric type away, but the other trainer's Pokemon would likely still get its attack off.

((Don't worry about it, there's no way a Pidgeotto takes two Shock Waves in a row, and not when one of them is Charged.)

The Pidgeotto plummeted out of the sky after the second Shock Wave coursed through its body, trailing a faint plume of smoke. The Gym Leader recalled it in midair to keep it from crashing into the ground, stowing the Pokeball back on his belt. He'd done his best to test the kid and clearly he'd shown himself worthy. "Congratulations trainer," the leader said, stepping across the battlefield. "You've earned yourself the Aero Badge." He held out the small token to the trainer. "Additionally, allow me to reward you with this TM for Acrobatics. I hope you find it useful, and I wish you luck in your future endeavors in the Pokemon League."

The Leader turned to go, but stopped suddenly and looked back. "One more helpful bit of advice to keep in mind," he said. "Pokemon respect Trainers not just for the advantages they can bring but for how they hold themselves. If a Trainer is arrogant then their Pokemon will be the same way and may become dangerously disobedient. Keep that in mind as you travel and grow with your team." With that the Leader departed.
