ζ Ѳ Ϩ ȾXXXXXXXXXin theXXXXXXXXXʂ ϯ ɵ ɾ ɣA plane is a quick way to travel form one place to another, mainly when crossing an ocean. It only takes a few hours and it is simple. There are no troubles that come up and no one has to sit and drive. They can just sit back and relax for the ride. Today, hundreds of people use airplanes to travel across the country and the globe. It has become almost like a second-nature way of travel. Of course there are risks, as there are with everything in life, but no one seems to really think about it. They simply board the plane, sit down, have something to drink, read a book, maybe watch or movie, or just take a nap. Then, when the plane lands they get off and continue on with their lives, like nothing even happened. Sometimes they travel with someone else, whether a friend or a relative, while at other times they simply travel alone. They sit next to strangers on the plane and normally that's what they stay. Sometimes they may fall into conversation with the person sitting beside them, maybe even across the aisle, and talk for some of the time on the plane. However, such conversations end as soon as the plane land and the two strangers move on with their lives, rarely even remembering the people they saw, or spoke to, on the plane. That's how it normally is, how it is to be expected. But everyone knows that life doesn't always go as is expected.
In an airport in Sydney, Australia planes are taking off often. Early in the morning, Flight 655 is preparing to take off. The plane is set to fly from Sydney to Los Angeles, California. The plane is nearly full with passengers who are all eager to return to L.A. for some reason. Each person has a reason of their own for traveling to their destination and, like always, some are traveling alone while others are traveling with their friends or family. All seem eager to arrive in L.A. to either return home or complete what they are there to do. They are all prepared for a short flight with no complications, just like how flying always is, but today's flight will be anything by ordinary.
A few hours into the flight, the plane hit turbulence. The passengers reassured that these things happened all the time and that it would pass soon. However, the plane began to rapidly descend as the turbulence grew. All passengers were ordered to fasten their seatbelts and remain seated. The crew tried to calm the worrying people as the situation soon got worse. Luggage and other things began flying around the plane as it began to descend even more. As it descended even more, parts of the plane broke away, leaving it eventually in three main pieces, the front section, the middle section, and the tail section. Each section crashed in different places on the island with a different amount of survivors in each section. The front section landed in the jungle but all passengers were killed on impact, there were no survivors in this section. The middle section landed on the beach, not all that far from the front section. There were about 42 passengers that survived in this section of the crash. The tail section crashed almost on the opposite side of the island from the other two sections. It crashed in the water, causing any survivors to have to swim to the shore. There were about 18 survivors in this section.
But this is no uninhabited island. Living near the center of the island is a group of people, called The Others, who have lived on the island for many years now. They live in small houses like normal people do. They cook foods, listen to music, and other things like that. Their leader is a manipulative man but the other members of this group highly respect him. They all witnessed the crash from their homes, watching as the plane fell from the sky. These people are not very welcoming to strangers on their island and are unsure how to handle these new people "arriving" on the island. Maybe by spying they can get some answers? In the meantime, The Others plan to keep their presence a secret from the survivors for as long as they can. Eventually everything will become clear...
The story starts off with the survivors waking after the crash. The Others are at their camp while the spies are trying to blend in.
And now, let the story take off...
