The next thing she knew she was being pulled back, the conduit lost her balance slightly but did not land on the floor, instead she took hold of the nearest possible object and looked over at the Captain utterly dumbfounded. She clenched her first, her already cold aura getting even more icy as she felt the spiritual energy build up around her. It was not often that Sara lost her temper to such a degree but when she did the comments from the surrounding ghosts did nothing to calm her down. "I did not try and kill one of your stupid rats!"

Sara was not the killer out of the two, just because she did not like the creatures did not mean she wanted them dead. She just wanted them out of the house, there was a place for rats and that place was not crawling all over the processions and bodies of Lunarian's. What where they? Cavemen? Bataar might have not been the most civilised person in the world, he had no idea how to cook, he was always behind with his cleaning and in general he was not the most hygienic of men. Sara has excepted all that, but this newest revaluation left her with very little faith in him and his ability to take care of himself. Suddenly she started to realise why he was so utterly dependant on his mother.

The thought of Odval just made her pout, it was highly unlikely that he showed no such volatility to his mother when she tried to kill her... twice. Clearly the Captains prospectives were a little out of whack.

Something inside her that she thought she buried a long time ago started to surface, Bataar had killed one of her friends and she had never mentioned it to him. She had never been this angry with him, no matter what he did, so the fact he had the nerve to be so vicious over something as stupid as this make her blood boil. She was right anyway and only acting in his best interest, he wondered why he was so ill the time? Maybe it was because he lived like a pig, there was a word for people who denied the truth in order to justify their own opinions, they were called morons.

Sara was not usually a violent person, but he had gone too far this time and the fact that she was still kicking herself about yesterday did not help. She held her hand to the side, the energy that she collected manipulated itself into the form of a small wolf pup and with glowing eyes. The ghostly animal went about running around the room, sniffing down and chasing out whatever rodents it found. Sara folded her arms and pouted. "Fine, if there is none here then there is no chance of me standing on them." Her eyes narrowed and she shook her head. He was not winning this one, the little creatures were being evicted and that was that.

Bataar was pretty sure that he was on the verge of executing Sara. She had most certainly overstepped her boundary here, and he was going to let her know it, even if he had to physical force her out of his yurt. The man advanced, his green eyes flashing dangerously as he watched her try to deal with his many reactions. Her denial of trying to kill one of his rats was, he supposed, typical coming from Sara. She would claim non-violence as much as she could, but then she'd turn around and step on a rat.

Basically, the captain was damned tired of it. He wasn't going to take anymore s**t for his rat ownership, that was for sure. A lack of hygiene may have prevailed wherever Bat was concerned, but he didn't think that the rats had ever done anything bad to him. They were creatures of goodness and light-- he was certain that it was possible to tell just by looking at one. How could something that looked so sweet ever do any harm? And in this case, he thought this in relation to Sarangerel. She was being a huge pain in the a** about his pets. Bat was going to be an intolerant b*****d because he knew where it was his place to defend himself: here it was.

The animal, formed from energy, was more than he could stand. He took the rat he'd been holding and threw it, gently enough so as not to injure it, directly into Sara's face. She was going to need to learn a lesson if she was going to be around him, or even if she were going to choose to be in love with him. The rats were going to stay, regardless of her inflated opinions. "You take that thing away!" he snarled, angrier than ever.

He would fight in a lowly manner to defend his rats. Bat was not above scrapping his honor in order to save himself in this particular situation.

The ghostly creature which was formed came back to it's master and sat down, sniffing at her hand. Sara could not touch it, its aura was cold but not physical in any sense of the word, it was just a shape manipulated by spirit energy, she would like to think of it as her spirit guide. "His name is Shinto and no, I will not." She had named it in honour of her diseased teacher, from the other side he had shown her how to use the technique and she liked to think that part of his own spirit made up the animal. She glared back over at Bataar, the creature gave a silent snarl, as if to reflect her own mood.

She was annoyed that he was still ordering her around, despite his size she was not scared of Bataar and if he wanted to act so hostile then so be it. Maybe is she whacked him over the head hard enough it might actually beat some sense into that thick skull of his. "You are a master at telling me what I can and can not do, you are always telling me how dangerous this world is, maybe it is time to show you that I can stand on my own too feet." She had fought Nobles before, heck she even won every so often. It was one fact that always seemed to escape the Captain, the fact that she was not this helpless girl, her spiritual abilities were strong and just because she could not shoot a bow or pick up a blade did not mean she was helpless. Infact looking at this logically in a few months she would be on a standing with him. She would be a Priestess and maybe then he might start respecting her.

"This is for your own good Bataar, sometimes people need to be cruel to be kind. At the end of the day I am not going to allow you to make yourself ill again." Maybe that was what this was all about. She had held his hand all through that time when he was in bed, though all that time that she thought he might be dying. He needed to take better care of himself, afterall he was not even totally recovered yet, his immune system was weak and rats were not things you wanted around sick men. It was her turn to worry and treat him like he was delicate for a change.

Sara rested her hand on the head of her staff, jerking her head. The little ball of spiritual energy made a leap for the Captain, teeth baring in a silent manor. Her pup did not do any physical damage, however if it hit it stole the breath from a persons lungs, making them feel weak for a second or two. Usually that is all that she needed to run away or launch her own attack.

Then again, it was not a certainty that it would hit.

Bataar didn't care what that damned thing's name was, and his expression said as much as he regarded Sara. He just didn't understand how the soul conduit could be so damned unfair to him with all of this! The rats were only his pets. He didn't need to fight with her about that. It was all utterly inappropriate, and Bat didn't understand where Sarangerel had gotten the idea that her opinion about the rats was law. Because, obviously, it was not. He wasn't going to let her mold him on this one. They were his beloved pets and they were going to stay, whether she liked it or not. That was how things were going to have to work around here if they were to get along.

He was more than a little pissed off as he regarded her next foment. "What you cannot do is try to command me," he hissed, his rage boiling up to inappropriate levels. He did not regard her as a serious opponent and he would make that known. He didn't want to have to fight some young girl like this, but he was going to have to if she was going to disagree with him about his pet rats. They were his and, as far as he was concerned, they were absolutely here to stay.

Bat had never related rats to illnesses-- ever. And it was true that a rat had probably never actually caused the man to be sick, but Sara seemed determined to persist in the idea of it. It was absolutely frustrating. Bataar stared at the idiotic creature coming toward him, holding his ground. When it hit, he was determined not to show how he was affected, and avoided doing so by remaining very still. It was a few moments before he could breathe again, but he was now more pissed off than ever.

"Sara, if I have to knock you unconscious and carry you away somewhere so that you'll leave, I will." he threatened, still failing to take physical action against her.

Shinto faded into nothing, the remains of his form were pale blue wisps which were circling the room. It was quite a light show, they say that priests were constantly followed by butterflies, the physical forms of souls that were drawn to a strong energy. One day soon Sara would be followed by them, and she was quite looking forward to the company, maybe they would be more civilized than the large Mongol who she seemed to spend most of her time with.

Sara looked on with cold eyes, tilting her head to one side. She did not know they got into such a situation but she knew she could not back down now, he was going to take her seriously, even if it was the death of her. She did not want him to see her as a child anymore, as something that was his to protect. She had always appreciated what he did for her, she had always been thankful that he was by her side. Yet now she was driven to get out of that shadow of his, and that was one bloody big shadow. Was it too much to be counted as his equal? "No because spirits forbid that the almighty Bataar takes instruction from a conduit." She spat, resting a hand on one of her hips.

Sara was not intimidating, not like him, but when she wanted to be the conduit could be rather creepy, it might have been her cold aura or her dead looking eyes but there was something about her that was not quite... normal. As she got stronger it became more obvious.

She had been stupid to ever think the two could possibly be more than friends, not when he still looked at her like this. She wrapped her hand around her staff as he threatened her. Pale eyes glimmering as she pulled it from her side, resting the pointed edge of it on his chest, her arm fully extended. "Oh really? You are not really doing much to back up that thread Captain." She smirked pulling it back, before spinning to swing it at him, the blue energy that she had tamed coming back to collect at its end. She might not be physically strong but the magic she possessed made her blows stronger, or at least served to make her opponents weaker.

"Besides, I owe you for that damn arrow you shot at me!"

Bataar watched with an expression of disdain as the creature disappeared before his eyes and heaved a sigh, his eyes falling upon Sarangerel. He really didn't want to be viewed by her as as terrible as he currently seemed. It was just that he wasn't willing to compromise when it came to his darling animals. They were one thing that the Mongol was not looking forward to giving up, ever. He and his rats had been through so much! Surely that counted for something?

Sara may not have wanted him to view her as a child, but she wasn't exactly helping with this argumentative thing of hers. He offered her a flat glare upon hearing her next comment and shook his head, his green eyes bland. "Maybe if you'd asked for something else, Sara, but this is different. These are my pets." he explained, almost getting a little choked up in the process. These were the only creatures that were willing to take Bataar Jaoret seriously all of the time. No other human was going to offer him that sort of companionship, the sort that could only be shared with an animal. It was the worst possible thing for Sara to ask her to get rid of them.

The man glanced to the heavens for a moment as she placed her staff against his chest before glancing back to her, allowing the blue energy to bowl into him. There was nothing he could do when it came to spiritual energy, he knew, and he was hardly agile enough to dodge any of it, which was a little on the frustrating side. Sara might be angry, but he would let her be. He would regard her as an adult regarded a child having a temper tantrum, and then maybe he'd tell her to go sit in the corner and think about what she'd done.

He could not bring himself to be enraged enough to harm the girl. All of her anger only reduced his ability to view her as a fellow adult-- besides, he didn't want a significant other that he'd be fighting with. He'd established that a few relationships ago, anyway. "Go ahead."

"Oh for the love of Lunaria." She growled, bringing back her staff to hold it at her side, she looked over her shoulder to see one of the creatures on the bed, looking over with those big, evil, beady eyes of there's. She could not see why he thought them so lovable, they were vermin. Then again, Bataar was never the brightest of men, if the rodents had made him fall for their wicked spell then she could not care less. Or so she told herself, it was no fun when the person who you were trying to fight with would not budge. Truth is she did not know why he bothered, even when he was in the wrong he had her feel stupid. It was just so infuriating.

Maybe she was spending too much time with Van. Or maybe she was not spending enough time with Van. "Fine." She finally spat, shaking her head and turning away from the beast, holding her hand to the side of her head like she had a huge headache. It seemed to be a common happening around Bataar these days. "Just fine. Though I swear to God, do not come trying to me when you get sick again, I will just laugh and say I told you so. Don't forget I was the poor sap who was here every day worrying, not your precious rats." She growled, wondering where she could go to cool down some. She needed some air, she did not like seeing him, especially when he was being so damn pathetic. Rats were not pets, dogs were pets, birds were pets.

RATS WERE RATS and most the female population of Lunaria would agree with her. "You are really the most infuriating man in the world." She added, resting a hand on her hip and staring on at the Captain.

Bataar didn't feel that he was in the wrong in any way, shape, or form. In fact, he felt as if he were a harbinger of justice, ready to strike at any moment for the sake of small animals everywhere, kittens included. These creatures needed the large man's defense, after all, because they weren't able to defend themselves. If Sara couldn't understand that then he could see very clearly why he wasn't head over heels for her! Or, at least, that was what Bat told himself as he glowered over the situation.

But maybe, just maybe, there was a chance that he could make the young woman understand. He walked over to the rat on his bed and picked it up gently, feeling its harmless little claws skittering against his palms. Slowly, very slowly, he brought the rat over to Sara and, in one movement, set the little critter on her shoulder and watched as it crawled up into her hair for protection from this strange situation it was suddenly in. "See? He likes you!" the Mongol declared, his green eyes glowing with pride.

What he didn't realize was that this was, more than anything else, the wrong thing to do. "They don't make people sick! They're just animals," he informed her defensively, looking quite convinced of his point. It was true! Rats may have been simple animals, but they had feelings just like Lunarians did and that was important. Sara needed to see his point, and to realize that it was a very peaceful thing indeed! These rats were here to be their friends, not to hurt them.

Besides, he didn't want to fight with the soul conduit, especially if she was trying to be an adult about all of this. He was going to view her as childish until she accepted his love of the rats, that was for sure. All the poor creatures needed was love, attention, and food.

Sara could feel herself running cold as he came over and put the rat on her shoulder, that was indeed a stupid thing to do. She stopped breathing for a moment as she felt little whiskers ticking her skin. She went pale and in truth, she died a little inside. She could not stand them, if she was not so convinced it was going to steal her tears for some black magic ritual she might have cried. Instead she did the more reasonable thing, she freaked the f*ck out. She began to twitch and the next thing he new she threw the thing at the bed, it bounced and looked at her wide eyed but she could not care less.

Shivers ran all over her body as her skin crawled, man she hated them. She hated, hated, HATED them with the burning intensity of one thousand suns. What occurred next was almost comical. The conduit reached over to the side and grabbed the closest thing to her, which so happened to be a frying pan, she hissed and hit the Captain over the head, as hard as she possibly could screaming. "YOU ARE SUCH AN IDIOT!" She would have hit him again, but she realized that he kind of... was not moving at all.

Sara sighed, getting onto her knees and prodding the Captain, she did not mean to knock him out. The rat which she had thrown wondered over, and looked up at her. She tilted her head and reached out her hand, the creature sniffed at her fingers and she gave it a small pat. What you know, they were not that bad afterall. She looked at the huge lump laid out on the floor. Oops. "I better stay till he wakes up... but if you dare tell him about this I will cook you and feed you to my dog." She threatened the rat as she threw it some cheese of the side.

Just because they were friends, did not mean Bataar had to know that. She rested her hand on the Captains back... On a plus side, her rage seemed to have vanished!

Bataar honestly didn't notice the fact that Sara was dying inside, and was quite pleased with the rat and its tiny claws and whiskers all over the nearest thing that he seemed to have for a girlfriend. It was just so damned[ adorable. He loved them! Rats were so very wonderful. He grinned a little bit, absolutely unprepared for Sarangerel's reaction to the small cuddly creature. He'd just known that they would be friends in the end!

It was very sudden, then, when he realized that his furry little friend was flying through the air to endure a rather hard landing upon his bed. The man stared at his rat, rushing to try and save it, and letting out a small cry of horror as it ran away in fear. Now it was blaming him for Sara's actions! What the hell had she done now? Bat was utterly horrified with the soul conduit, and hoped that she would comprehend as much. Throwing a rat so violently was probably the worst possible thing that she could have done. They were such trusting little animals, and she had ruined his relationship with this one! Bat simply didn't understand her motivation for such a thing.

He was more than prepared to chastise her when, all of a sudden, a frying pan connected with his head. The man was knocked out cold, slipping into unconsciousness with another slam of his head against the ground. The captain's body went limp, and one of his rats skittered over to tentatively sniff his fingers before running off again. He was probably going to need to get a cat, if anything. It could chase out the rats and he'd probably hardly even notice because it would be so damned cute.

The rats might go, but they would have to go without the behemoth's knowledge or approval.
