.: Setting :.

Sara's fear of rats is something that she has never gotten over. Now whats going to happen when she finds herself face to face with her fury foe?
PostPosted: Mon Dec 26, 2011 6:29 pm

Sara had just been through one of the most interesting nights of her life. She had admitted her feelings for Bataar, been rejected and spent her night curled up between five of the fluffiest creatures alive. She had gone to sleep feeling like the world was ending but had woken up... fine. Sara had gotten into this habit of shutting down her feelings when she could not handle them, instead of facing them she simple denied they existed. It is what kept her going, if she could not do that, she would break down every time one of her friends died. In short, just because Bataar did not return her feelings did not mean that all hope was lost.

So that was the end of that, she would have to get over Bataar. She was sure she would in time, for now she would rather concentrate on saving their friendship, if it was all possible.

She wandered into the man's home. It was as unkemp as always but she resisted the urge to clean, she would do that later. The Mongolian man was still in bed, she wandered over and sat by his side, placing her hand over his. She knew then that everything was going to be okay, she did not know what it was. It was just something deep down that told her that last night did not matTer. She leaned down and kissed him on the cheek. Then she saw something moving...

She paused, her head darting towards a shadow at the other side of the room. Her heart sank, her eyes widened... It was a rat! She paused, completely still. Until the thing moved. Sara could not help but to let out a small scream as the furry beast ran over in the direction of the bed. She leaped to the other side of Bataar. She tried to steal the covers to hide under them, the conduit feared nothing more than rats. "BATAAR GET OUT OF BED! THE BIGGEST RAT EVER IS HIDING IN THE FUR PILE!" She could have cried, she put her hand on his shoulder and shook him. Her eyes kept looking back to the fur pile, in which the rat climbed into.

Bataar was fast asleep and was really quite comfortable within the warmth of his yurt. Rats squirming around were nothing to the Mongol and he really rather appreciated the small creatures; he'd loved them from the start. He'd taken joy from owning rats ever since he'd been a student and he planned to keep some for all time. They were the nicest, smartest animals he knew and they inhabited all of his best dreams. Rats before lovers, always.

He was awoken by a scream. The man sat bolt upright in bed, looking around in confusion until he saw Sara, screaming about a rat. "Oh?" he asked, yawning, glad that she hadn't shunned him altogether after last night. Maybe they could just act like things were normal or something. That would definitely be the best way to go. Last night had been awkward for both of them, he figured, and things were only going to get worse if they let them. It was best to ignore this sort of thing for now until everything got better-- everything would get better. It had to. They were still friends, after all, as far as he knew.

Now then... something about the rat in the fur pile? The man pulled himself over to the pile and dug through industriously until he located his squirming, and very afraid, little friend. He cradled the rat(nearly cat-sized, indeed) in his arms and glanced back to the soul conduit, confusion still written upon his face. "Why are you screaming?" he asked with a yawn, scratching absently behind the rat's ears. This was one of the cutest little fellows he'd ever owned.

He had no idea how horrified Sara would be by his abnormal hobby.

Then came her gallant hero! He went over to the fur pile, picked up the fuzzy little villain and then... mothered it. Sara looked confused, horribly shocked and pale. Why would he do that! They were so disgusting, did he not understand! "No. No Bataar that is NOT normal. Please, PLEASE tell me that is not yours!" Her eyed widened as she kicked back in the bed until she was as far back as she could get, pulling the covers up to her chin. She hated them, he hated them do much. Ever since she was little she had had this fear, living on a farm meant they were hundreds of them, all the time, there was no escape. They were always watching... with those evil little eyes.

"Oh lord. Bataar I swear, this is not even funny, do not come near me with that thing. I will actually have a heart attack, why? WHY is there a rat in your house." She stated, thinking she was suffering from lack of breath already. She would always care for Bataar, but if he kept rats this might be the last day she ever came to his home. Her fur stood on end and she felt slightly ill. Then she felt something. She screamed and jumped out of the bed, throwing back the covered to see another one of the little lovable rodents. Her legs went week and she fell to her knees shivering. It touched her!

She looked back at the Mongol and cringed, he hugged those things and then touched her? What about all the germs? She could not take this.

It was Bataar's turn to look taken aback. "He's my pet." he responded firmly, looking disturbed at Sara's horrified reaction. He didn't understand what was wrong with having rats as pets. They were reliable little animals and one got the feeling that they really cared sometimes! Beyond that, the fur mixed with the scaly tails was undeniably cute, not to mention those damned whiskers and noses and ears and-- well, Bataar really did like rats. They had kept him company even at the loneliest of times; they didn't care. They were willing not to judge. All they wanted to do was love-- he knew it!

The captain grew even more offended as Sara continued to speak and held his rat defensively, his green eyes sparking. "I keep rats. They're my pets. I don't understand why you're so concerned," he growled, knowing now that there was a reason that he wasn't romantically involved with the soul conduit in front of him. Anyone who disliked rats could not be a proper friend of Bataar and he was more than willing to make that clear to Sarangerel.

He watched another rat skitter around with a frown. "You're waking them up!" Bat cried argumentatively, his expression stormy. "Stop yelling," he said with a scowl. He and the Legionnaire were about to be bigger enemies than he'd ever expected if she was going to endure with her fear of rats. There was nothing to be afraid of! They were perfectly fuzzy and cute, after all.

"Bataar I am a healer. Do you know how many people die of rat bites? Have you ever heard of the plague!" Maybe that was why he was restricted to his bed for all those months. She had seen what rat bites could do to someone, she had seen them eating bodies for crying out loud! Sara cringed, seeing his anger but not understanding what his problem was. He was the one being totally unreasonable, she did not force him to bathe, she did not force him to eat potato's, she did not make him do anything that he did not want to. So why was he forcing this on her?

She stood up, wanting to march up to him and slap him. She might have done if he was not holding one of the little blighters. She clenched her fists, feeling her heartbeat raising. "Bataar. I am sorry but this is where I draw the line, you mean I have been here all these time with them... I have curled up to you in that bed and they sleep with you? Oh I feel ill." She played with her hair nervously. Not really knowing what to do, why did he not understand? He was always so stubborn! She started to question if she was insane.. or if he was just dim. There was no grey area, they were evil. End.

She looked to the side and pouted, folding her arms and biting her lip. "They are not pets Bataar, they are vermin and they are dangerous. How can you not see that?" She asked, glaring over at him wondering what she saw in him! Maybe she had dodged a bullet with this one.

Bataar did not care about sanitation-- that much, he supposed, was evident given his generally filthy living space. He watched Sara with a flat glare and held onto his rat, feeling deeply upset. She had no right to throw these things at him! "My rats never bite me," he responded, his distaste for this hater of all that was good in the world nearly overpowering him. It was absolutely inappropriate for Sara to come in and tell him how terrible rats were, especially when he knew differently. They were Tengri's best and sweetest creations!

If Sara had slapped Bat he probably would have been entirely up to slapping her back. This was one area of his life where he was absolutely not going to compromise. Rats were rats, and Bataar loved them to pieces. Sara wasn't about to change his mind on this one. "It's not your place to draw any lines," the man growled anomalistically, his green eyes flashing dangerously. He was a fairly peaceful sort of man outside of his line of work, but when it came to his pets he was absolutely willing to defend them as best he could. They were important to him.

His rats-- dangerous? He thought not! "I think you should leave," Bataar informed the soul conduit, his eyes taking on an icy chill. All these were were small animals that needed care and love and attention. He was not going to change any of this just for Sarangerel-- the rats had been there first.

He was being totally unreasonable. "Maybe your just too thick skinned to feel it. It matches your thick skull." She growled, his face was like thunder. In truth she had never seen him this annoyed with her and she did not know if this was all about the rats. She just could not believe someone would love them so much.

If he wanted to get rid of her he could have just said so.

She sighed and rolled her eyes at the entire situation. He was being even more unmovable then usual, he was not the easiest person to budge, but he had sunk his feet in this time and it was one topic that she could not change on either. She could not help being scared as rats, as much as she could help having teal hair or a nervous stutter. "You are joking. Spirits help me, I have come second to a damn rodent." She circled her temple with her index finger, trying to prevent the headache she knew was coming.

This had not been her week, not at all. She did not need to be asked twice, in truth she did not know why she had bothered coming... or why he had such a good feeling about today. "Fine. I will leave you to your precious pets." The conduit stated, turning around to leave. She what she did not know was that her foot was about to make its mark on one of the fluffy creatures. She was not used to having to watch where she stepped for the sake of rats.

A few more seconds and the little creature might be crushed.

Bataar looked taken aback by Sara's insult, but he was not deterred from his protection of the rats. If someone wanted a throw down with his animals, then so be it. Bat would combat anyone who insulted his right to have rats running about the place and he was about to make that perfectly clear to the soul conduit. This was his life! He was a captain and he'd do what he wanted, especially when it came to his pet rats. There was no way around his adoration for the scraggly creatures.

Just about anyone came second to his domesticated rats. If he and Sara were going to get along she was definitely going to have to understand that simple fact. He regarded her with a glare, pleased that it looked as if she was resigned to leave. That was exactly what he wanted from that monstrous rat-hater! Before long he would make her surrender her opinions of the creatures and admit that they were far cuter than could be stood with any degree of sanity. The rats had done nothing wrong, and he didn't understand why they should be treated as if they had. It was an awful concept, in the captain's mind.

And then he saw it. She was going to step on a rat. He hadn't realized how spiteful the soul conduit was! Bataar launched himself from his perch with the rather large specimen and knocked Sara out of the way, his green eyes nothing short of piteous at this point. "So now you try to kill one of my rats?" he hissed, his rage bubbling to the surface. He would make sure that Sara paid for this one-- no one tried to kill his animals, no matter how much they hated them!

The next thing she knew she was being pulled back, the conduit lost her balance slightly but did not land on the floor, instead she took hold of the nearest possible object and looked over at the Captain utterly dumbfounded. She clenched her first, her already cold aura getting even more icy as she felt the spiritual energy build up around her. It was not often that Sara lost her temper to such a degree but when she did the comments from the surrounding ghosts did nothing to calm her down. "I did not try and kill one of your stupid rats!"

Sara was not the killer out of the two, just because she did not like the creatures did not mean she wanted them dead. She just wanted them out of the house, there was a place for rats and that place was not crawling all over the processions and bodies of Lunarian's. What where they? Cavemen? Bataar might have not been the most civilised person in the world, he had no idea how to cook, he was always behind with his cleaning and in general he was not the most hygienic of men. Sara has excepted all that, but this newest revaluation left her with very little faith in him and his ability to take care of himself. Suddenly she started to realise why he was so utterly dependant on his mother.

The thought of Odval just made her pout, it was highly unlikely that he showed no such volatility to his mother when she tried to kill her... twice. Clearly the Captains prospectives were a little out of whack.

Something inside her that she thought she buried a long time ago started to surface, Bataar had killed one of her friends and she had never mentioned it to him. She had never been this angry with him, no matter what he did, so the fact he had the nerve to be so vicious over something as stupid as this make her blood boil. She was right anyway and only acting in his best interest, he wondered why he was so ill the time? Maybe it was because he lived like a pig, there was a word for people who denied the truth in order to justify their own opinions, they were called morons.

Sara was not usually a violent person, but he had gone too far this time and the fact that she was still kicking herself about yesterday did not help. She held her hand to the side, the energy that she collected manipulated itself into the form of a small wolf pup and with glowing eyes. The ghostly animal went about running around the room, sniffing down and chasing out whatever rodents it found. Sara folded her arms and pouted. "Fine, if there is none here then there is no chance of me standing on them." Her eyes narrowed and she shook her head. He was not winning this one, the little creatures were being evicted and that was that.
