I am new here, but a regular in the
Pets! forum, a Mod in the
Pets and Animals Guild (this is the Animals and Pets Guild. SOOO confusing for me!), and Captain of
The Suggie Tree, a sugar glider guild.
Professionally, I have worked with animals for a long time. I have 3 jobs all involving animals.
1. I am a writer. I write the Exotic Pets column for the
Salt Lake City Examiner.
2. I am a field trip educator for
Thanksgiving Point. They have a working farm and so I can answer questions about the cows, goats, peacocks, and other animals there. Sometimes I assist the farm hands handling the animals. Once I even bottle raised a baby goat.
3nodding 3. I am an Animal Educator. I go to birthday parties and school classes and teach children about my animals and where they come from. It's called
Critters 2 Go. This is a business I started myself.
As for what I *have*, well, it's a houseful. I have 2 sugar gliders, a chinchilla, a Russian tortoise, a RES turtle, 2 leopard geckos, a bearded dragon, a frog, 5 hermit crabs, 2 bettas, a Kuhli Loach, 2 Golden Mystery Snails, and 100+ Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. I also watch over a few feral cats and in addition often foster various animals (dogs, cats, rats, sugar gliders, chinchillas, etc. (mostly the exotics))
Therefore you can reasonably expect to see me in The Litterbox (for the feral kitties), The Aquarium (for the hermit crabs, the bettas, the snails, and the loach), The Terrarium (the tortoise, the turtle, the beardie, the frog, and the leopard geckos), The Barn (for all the animals I deal with at work at Thanksgiving Point), The Cage (the chinchilla... also I really like talking about rats as I would totally have them if I didn't have suggies), The Ant Hill (for the Hissers, of course, and mantises in the future) AND The Zoo (because I guess that is where an exotic like sugar gliders fits in. While I am sure they have a lot in common with many of the pets in The Cage, in like the toys they play with, they are not rodents.)
