Captain Treky
Awesome, all righty then, here it is:
"Hiya, Doc. What's cooking?"
"You know I had some trouble getting through? Where's Captain Picard?"
"He's on ice."
"Pardon?"
"He's being grilled."
"What is he, a fish?"
Forgot we had a quote pending. Oops.
This is obviously "the Big Goodbye."
I was actually talking about this line the other week. Someone translated a joke
from Spanish and the result was a new joke that resembled this one.
("A la plancha" is something like Paillard, but the word "plancha" also means
a clothing iron. So, the original joke was that the customer could have his
fish "a la plancha", or wrinkled. (Ironed or wrinkled/Paillard or wrinkled.
The translated joke was that they could serve it grilled, or refuse to ask it
any questions.)
