Jaydine Nerevar Telvanni Jaydine Byakko Yasutsuki Jaydine So I have a major glitch to share - Under absolutely NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you go to Japhet's Folly unless you are sided with the Empire and doing the plot specific quest. It is its own world and once you get there the game will not let you leave. Unfortunately for me I decided to go exploring and where did that take me? Yep. I lost over an hour of gameplay because I had to reload a previous save far, far away. Sigh. *pats on head* There there. It's ok. emotion_bandaid Thanks for the bandaid. XD So another glitch to share.... I swear my playing the game for a month with no mentionable glitches is finally catching up with me all in one week. Yesterday was the third day in a row I had a problem glitch. After I caught up on what I lost I was at the College of Winterhold and finished the first quest (Exploring Saarthal) I was up in the Arcanaeum and accepted a quest from the Orc librarian and it was to find a book.... well unknown to me the game randomly selects from a list of books in a list of dungeons....and apparently the game selected a cave/ruin I had already explored, and I already had the copy of 'cleansing of the fane' in my inventory for quite some time. I had tried to sell it before but it wouldn't let me as it called it a 'quest item'. So I was like awesome I have the book already.... but the game kept telling me to go back to the cave so I went through the cave again only to find the empty chest with an quest arrow above it. I'm like seriously wtf. So I look online and find out that the moment you accept the quest from him it chooses a book and cave.....and if you already have the book you are screwed. So its a bummer that there's another quest I can't complete....no way I was going to lose hours of gameplay AGAIN for this one small misc quest. But what confuses me is that I had the book as a quest item in my inventory for a long LONG time before I even got that quest.... which goes against what is said hereso.... I'm not sure they have it exactly right. Shrug. Whatever. PS- I forgot to mention this one other glitch - the other day I was killing some giants for a bounty and a frost dragon attacked which I killed, but instead of absorbing its soul nothing happend. Even now it is still where I left it, and instead of just a skeleton, it just looks like its sleeping. And after playing the game for a month, am I the only person who hasn't had a random dragon swing by to help? Perhaps I have to get to a certain part in the main quest....shrug. Oh but I did get the bones and stuff from the dragon.
Sadly quest related bugs wont get fixed until January. sad I haven't had the book glitch happen to me yet, although I do have the glitch were all the instruments your sent to collect for the Bard Colleges are stuck in my inventory. Even though I didn't collect the drum and flute until told to do so. The lute on the other hand I found while dungeon diving and learned that it could get stuck in you inventory. Even though the quest giver will still reward you for finding them the items and quests stay stuck to you. I'v had the dragon not give up its soul and not dissolve to bones many times. And no there is only one way to have a friendly dragon swing by to help and you basically have to complete the main quest for it to happen.
ah thanks for explaining that about the dragon, I didn't realize. Gonna get the strategy guide for xmas. About the music thing....I actually haven't done anything for the Bards College except find them and receive a first quest about retrieving some item...but I do have something called "Finn's Lute" in my inventory which I have had since like early in the game...I wonder if thats one of the items in the quest you are referencing? I might start that alot later then lol. I have enough to keep me busy till january. XD
Yup "Finn's Lute" was the item I was talking about. Ah that 1st Bards College quest is to find a book, that contains the poem/song about King Oalf.

Restoring the Thieve's Guild to its Former Glory
I sunk so many hours into this. 40+ Gameplay hours finishing off the Thieve's Guild, and getting three of the four special jobs complete. The fourth special job, Solitude, glitched on me so hard I literally threw my controller at the wall.
My tip: do not kill Erikur, located in Solitude, until after you finish this achievement. Sadly, as I completed the main storyline about 30 hours into the game, I went completely nuts with my destruction spells, and accidentally killed Erikur of Solitude. I did not realise his significance at the time. I played another 80 hours before starting the Thieve's Guild, and am absolutely shattered I can't do it without starting over. If you kill Erikur, you will not be able to complete the achievement because he is a quest marker for the Thieve's Guild special jobs; kill him, and you can't get the job, and can't finish it.. I now have to revert to a save from prior to completing the main quest line, and start the Thieve's Guild over - probably sinking another 40 hours of my life into it.
I hate the Thieve's Guild.

Ok, I feel a little better after hearing this about my own experience with this quest. When I did it he appeared outside of the Solitude cell out in the middle of the Karth River. I had to use a glitch to fix a glitch.

I had to use a glitch to fix a glitch. I have read of that. But alas, I cannot even experience that for myself! Imagine my determination to get the achievement, only to be shattered by being turned back to the beginning after 40 hours of attempts! It is quite possibly the worst bug I have ever encountered in a TES game. Not to mention the fact that the design of the achievement (and of becoming the master of the Thieve's Guild) makes it the most incredibly frustrating experience of my life.

Lord Denning Restoring the Thieve's Guild to its Former Glory
I don't think I had any problems with the TG quest lines, maybe a little hick up here and there, but I made sure to save often. What I hated about this huge quest was the randomness of the side jobs you had to do to get to one of the main four "main" restore quests.

I had to use a glitch to fix a glitch. I tend to avoid killing NPC's in towns from my experience in TES III: Morrowind. You never know which NPC will be used in which quest and when. I stick to only killing those who attack me.
