I get this a lot. With actual movie music I see a "flashback" from the scene where the music was used but in other times I get this idea of the movie or scene the music could be used in. I also some times associate smells or senses to certain music. For example the main theme from the movie How To Train a Dragon makes me "see and smell" the brisk sea wind etc.
I rarely get any bad memories from music but I might think of some sad stuff. I've noticed that when it comes to my actual feelings or memories, then scents create much more bigger associations than music does. There is one exception though. I know this is corny, but the cry of a seagull creates an unbelievable longing for the sea. Some times it's so bad that it actually hurts my heart. When I was a kid majority of my summers were spent at the shores of the arctic sea, fishing with the salty, sharp, wind at my face and I loved it. The seagulls remind me of that.
