Damn... I feel so out of place here. Admittedly, I've never bothered to pump Nemesis full of lead, so I assumed that was the only way to defeat him. It's sad when you're the only supporter of one side. Then again, this is a Silent Hill guild, so I'm not really surprised at the result. Still, Nemesis only died after taking several shots from a Rail Gun, a cylinder of magnum slugs, and a nuclear warhead to top it all off. My argument stands: There would be no winner.

We are not all justifying Pyramid Head because we are silent hill fanatics, the facts are there. You cannot stop a tireless, immortal being. You're asking Nemesis to essentially kill a GOD. A strong, persistant, resilient, immortal, raping God.

... Hello? the possessed chick does not need a firearm.

That is my life motto!

@Foxx: It would be a good fight and we'd be screwed if the battle ever did end, so I hope they do fight forever.

That is certainly a valuable motto to live by! Another good one is:
"What the hell?"

I'm sure they would fight it out until P Head saw James, he'd then rush to attack him with Nemisis helping because James looked like Leon at the time.
They would work together and take down the entire world and P Head would get all the nurses he wants and Nem can haz t3h bunnehs

Indeed, but then Pyramid Head would have no choice but to destroy Nemesis cuz he's very very selfish with his claims rolleyes After all, you never saw him offer anything to James, right? We might have had P Head's drive wrong all along... he wasn't out to punish James, he just thought James was after his... erm... "women".,. sweatdrop

I don't think this is a fair fight in any regards, Pyramid Head is a being of the subconcious mind of a self loathing widow, Nemesis is a beefed up zombie.
Pyramid Head cannot be 'killed' Nemesis can. End of debate there.
But the fight in itself also has some odd twinges to it.
Pyramid Head was never really created to kill(We are talking about Pyramid Head not Red Pyramid(movie) or Bogeyman(SH5)), just to torture. He easily could have stabbed James with a spear on the roof of the hotel, but instead he just threw him off the roof.
And can Nemesis even be killed by a blade or does he regenerate his flesh too quickly, because Pyramid Head would never get a rail gun or a magnum that's just not his style.

But I'll tell you who I think posed more of a threat and scared me more in the games.
First came Nemesis I got to see him first kill another member of stars (oh poor what's his name(no offense)) then he chased me, my first thought was no f***ing way I'm gonna try killing him I only have ten bullets. Eventually he chased me and I tried killing him and died, I then decided not to try that anymore and it was more annoying then scary to run from him. And I was very pleased when I killed him and got rid of said annoyance. Aww... Satisfaction.

Now Pyramid Head, oh Pyramid Head.
The first time I saw him he was standing behing a grate just staring at me (I think, no eyes) the noise in the radio was telling me this wasn't a part of the scenery he's a monster. But he didn't smash through the grate like I thought might happen, in fact he didn't do anything until I go into a room later and he's doing oh god to a mannequin creature cutscene plays and James hides and shoots to no avail. Not frightening but a little disturbing.
Then I get trapped in a room with him no way out, gamer sense tells me, you must fight him. He picks me up and I get stabbed by something from his helmet, reload, try again he swings his sword I die, reload, try again and again. Eventually I survive the 'fight' long enough for him to jump down the stairs, but I've realized this guy can't die. Then the race to the elevator, narrow corridor, and Maria running with me, I finally get to the elevator, Maria doesn't and James slides down the wall and I'm feeling the same way, left sitting alone with my thoughts on what he's doing to her now.
Eventually the final confrontation happens there are two of them, oh but I've been waiting for this my survival horror instincts have given me enough foresight to save plenty of ammo. And what happens? They impale themselves. I can never kill him.

Obviously Pyramid Head is the winner.

You're analysis is fairly well done, but you are mistaken on several accounts about our beloved triangle man. Pyramid Head is no mere being of the subconscious mind... He is an all powerful entity unto himself, only given incarnation by the mind of james. He has existed within the town without a true solid form as great as valtiel, xuchilbara, or even samael. He is of the utmost importance to the order of things. Just as he was given form once again in Homecoming.

You are HIGHLY, HIGHLY wrong to claim Pyramid Head was never created to kill. His duties state "he is to punish those who feel they need to be", but he and his image alike are that of the old executioners... and being a creature embodied by the old ideologies of the town. As such, he "executes". And he did not push James off the roof, James turned to see what it was and as Pyramid Head swung his blade, James jumped back to dodge it and slammed himself into the fence, causing the fence to shake loose making him fall. Believe me, had his blade hit james... well... there wouldn't have been any more Silent Hill 2.

Firstly I'd like to say, I apologize for mistating that James was pushed off the roof. I watched the cutscene on youtube again and realized that Pyramid Head did in fact swing his sword. I'm sorry, I just remembered it differently last night.

Second, when discussing a monster in Silent Hill, alot of theory is involved. I believe Pyramid Head wasn't created to kill James, and that he was only there to torture him. When we first see Pyramid Head he is standing behind a grate, he could try to grab at james if he chooses, he does not. When you meet him next he gets shot a couple times, but he doesn't react in a violent way at all. When you first 'fight' him he hears a siren and decides to leave, without finishing James off. When he sees James in a corridor he doesn't follow you outside of it, in fact if you wait long enough he will just continue prowling, instead of waiting for you from where you left. And when James finally decides he doesn't need Pyramid Head to torture him anymore, he proceeds to impale himself...himselves(is that even a word?). Pyramid Head in fact only kills one person, Maria, and multiple times. Maria seems to be a part of silent hill herself. Although I have never played that silent hill 2 extra Born from a Wish(?) please tell me if I'm completely mistaken about that.(Oh and please enlighten me on that entirely I'd like to know about it.)

(I could go on about Pyramid Head theory for awhile, but I don't think this is the place to do so in. Plus I'm sure this is already too long.)

While you raise interesting points as to why he does not attack at certain spots, there are some things about Pyramid Head that are not theorized. One such fact being that he IS based on the old executioners and the towns ideologies. Another is that he represents Valtiel's reason for being, and in that sense, he is as much immortal and his own entity as Valtiel or any other god (not saying he is a God though).

However, to quench your thirst for theorized answers, I have taken time to review speculate and come up with my own.... You see, to be punished, one must learn something in the process... this is the mere diference between punishment and murder.... all the same, this is what distinguishes Pyramid head from the other monsters. When you first see Pyramid Head behind the grate, James has learned NOTHING yet. And when you hide in the closet, he has still yet to learn anything (and one could go a step further and say when James fired shots at him, P-Head realized James has yet to realize why he is incarnated and so he leaves).

You are correct that much of what is is theorized, and that is much of the beauty of Silent Hill. Just as I am not saying P-Head is a pure killer, he is and always will be much more complex than that.
