R'nan cringed at T'rin's explanation of the event. R'yn was an idiot, true, but he didn't have to go saying it all like that. Now R'yn was in trouble for sure.

Sure enough, Trin looked furious.

"R-R'yn was just surprised, probably!" R'nan quickly pipped up, coming to the older boy's defence. "I'm sure if he'd thought things through, he wouldn't have... right, R'yn?" he said, looking pointedly at R'yn. Here was his chance to defend himself; R'nan hoped he didn't totally mess it up like before.

Burmeth, meanwhile, had gotten bored of this drama and had taken to pestering His again.
Hey, R'nan. Hey, heey! He began to nudge R'nan in the side playfully, wanting his attention.
Stop it, Burmeth. R'nan said, trying to push him away. His nudging tickled, but R'nan was trying to keep a straight face. "Cut it out!" he muttered, laughing quietly.

Burmeth stopped in his assault and sat back, satisfied. There's the Mine I like! he said. You should never frown, Mine, you look so much better with a smile. And if a situation is upsetting you, well, we should just go and do something else!

Was T'rin trying to get him in trouble? R'yn frowned at the older boy, and then flinched at I'dan's expression. Oh, he was in trouble... And it was all T'rin's fault! That big mouth didn't know when to sharding keep quiet! "I-I was just surprised!" he said quickly, stammering as he came to his own defense, looking to R'nan gratefully. "I wasn't going to tell the entire Weyr, shards! I bumped into R'nan as I went to leave the barracks," he flushed at the memory; it really was terribly awkward to find out a friend was actually female--and naked when attempting to speak with them. "Then N'rin and T'rin came over and accused me of lying."

"I was just going to give her a firelizard egg for Impressing and all. We're friends, so, I didn't think she'd mind if I spoke to her through the curtains--I didn't know she was a girl! I didn't mean to find out! I was being friendly. Zara had a clutch and I thought maybe she'd like an egg. She didn't have a firelizard, so..."

Why so frightened, mine? Gereth wanted to know as he moved from his sunspot in the sand. The bronze carefully stood and shook himself before wandering over. Has Luth's frightened you? I will frighten them. No one frightens mine.

Gereth, no! It's my fault, R'yn explained. I found out I'man's actually a female.

Gereth did not seem at all bothered by this. Rather, he was curious. Why would she hide? he asked. There are plenty of females here. What difference is one more?

"In-in the barracks," R'yn pointed, still looking nervous. He was been sure I'dan had been about to hit him.

L'fir and Ticene were heading to the barracks together, as pure usual in a conversation that seemed mainly one sided. Calith walked calmly along beside Ticene, whilst Bocaith bounced back and forth. The blue had far too much energy and often rushed ahead of the group, allowed himself to fall back and then would rush forward again. The dragon's antics seemed of little concern to his rider, who was listening as his sister relayed the events of the hatching. He had planned to attend, but Bocaith had decided instead that he wanted to play a game and L'fir couldn't really count on him to sit still through the whole hatching.

Ticene was in mid sentence when L'fir nudged her to get her attention. Stopping her story the smaller twin looked up to see him pointing ahead of them. "Looks like your friend's in trouble." Ticene didn't really like the way that L'fir had smirked when saying 'your friend', but chose to ignore it for now. Turning her attention to the group she frowned. What was going on? She didn't know I'dan, but it was clear that he was angry and that R'yn seemed the main focus of that. Oh, what had he gone and done now?

Glancing at L'fir the weyrling picked up her pace slightly. She came within earshot just in time to here mention of a girl and not meaning to find out. Wonderful, R'yn had managed to find out something he shouldn't have. Turns of sneaking about and doing things she should'n't have came in useful as Ticene managed to shift her face into one of absolute normalcy. She smiled as she approached the group as though nothing was wrong at all, even though obviously it was. "Heyo everyone, how're we all?"

L'fir had made no such attempt to change his expression. Although to be honest, the boy's expression seemed to rarely change at all. Standing beside his sister he had the slight trace of a smirk on his face as he regarded the group. A nod of the head was all the greeting they were likely to get from him. Sensing his amusement a green firelizard popped out of between and swept through the group. Landing on L'fir's shoulder she chattered happily away as though actually talking, taking his attention away from the other humans around him. He knew if he didn't pay attention then the green would probably start swiping at his face until he did.

I'dan regarded R'yn for a long moment. He found himself deeply torn, in three ways. First, part of him wanted to beat R'yn within an inch of his life; he had singlehandedly brought the world down on his sister's shoulders, on her day of Impression no less. Then, without thinking, he continued to make the problem worse, spreading the information around like it was his to give at all.

A second part of him wanted to express appreciation to the younger boy, for trying to make his sister feel welcome (no matter how badly it had backfired). He knew that, despite their best efforts, some of her aloofness had come across as the awkwardness that it was, and rather than be put off by it, R'yn had intended to make her feel more comfortable.

The third part of him? That was mostly every inch of his body, every muscle, every nerve and tendon, straining toward the barracks, telling him to leave these fools behind and go see his sister. She needed him.

He was as ready to respect a Queen rider as anyone, but when Ticene approached, he ignored her completely - though Luth offered his respects to Calith immediately.

Finally, I'dan spoke again. "You were trying to be nice," he ground out between his teeth, fists clenching and unclenching at his sides, "and Iamana would kill me if I hurt you."

Somehow, it didn't make him look any less like he wanted to pummel R'yn into the ground. With an intense effort of will, he turned himself away from R'yn and walked across the Bowl toward the barracks, his movements precise and deliberate.

She couldn't stop staring at the egg in the pot. As soon as she'd seen what it was, she'd frantically pulled it out, running her hands carefully over every inch of the surface, making sure it wasn't damaged from the fall. Relieved to discover that it was flawless, she put it back in the pot...

And considered the implications.

Why had R'yn been bringing it here? Had he intended to give it to her? Would she... would she have a fire lizard of her own - or would she have to give it back?

Either way, she wasn't sure she could look him in the eye again.

Ever.

It seemed like everyone was upset about the girl who pretended to be a boy. Leoth did not understand why it caused such distress in not only his, but all the others around him. Even the little one was upset and would not play with him. But he wasn't going to pout about it, oh no. He was going to get to the bottom of it. Well...his way of getting to the bottom of it. While T'rin and the others were talking to the girl/boy's clutchmate, the bronze had decided to make his way into the barracks and see this person first hand. Of course, for Leoth seeing the interesting person meant inspecting them face-to-face. So there was the bronze poking his head into every nook and cranny with interest until he found the reason he'd come. There you are! Oh this feels funny. This was the first time the bronze had actually spoken to someone who wasn't T'rin or a dragon. How delightful even if it didn't quite feel right to him. Hello Wookith and his! The happy-go-lucky dragon greeted I'mana and the new brown excitedly, glad to have a chance to do something new.

Back with T'rin, things were starting to make him want to just back away and head to the kitchens or something. The number of people were steadily growing and he didn't like large crowds. At all, they made him uncomfortable. Of course, just as he was thinking about escaping a certain gold and blue pair showed up to the scene. Blinking, the brunette gave a nod of his head to L'fir and a quiet gretting to Ticene, not that she would be able to hear over the others most likely. Yes, perhaps it was time to back out and drag Leoth off to go do...something else. Turning his head, he was about to silently call for the bronze just to realize he was no longer by the lake. Or in it. Or anywhere around it. Eyes blinked before he frowned. Where in the world did he....oh no. No, no, no. Leoth...what are you doing?

I am seeing the one who pretends to be a boy. T'rin almost facepalmed. Of course the nozy dragon would end up having to go see the person they'd been talking about. Why wouldn't he? You should probably come back...her brother is heading that way and he isn't very happy right now.

N'rin was easily pulled away from the conversation by the twins approaching, giving both of them a grin as a greeting. This was turning into quite the crowd, wasn't it? Of course, R'yn always knew how to get all kinds of attention from..well, anyone. Not that N'rin would ever want this kind of attention. I do not know why you are wasting time over there, mine. Surely our time could be spent doing something better. Tomoth was bored of this, who cared what some human had done. And did it really even matter? The boy couldn't really argue with that, it was pointless to just sit in a group and gossip about some new rider. Besides, they were bound to get caught by someone and he didn't really feel like having to explain why there was a large group not too far from the barracks. Yes, and you should change. You are wet and dirty now. You must look presentable if you are going to continue to be my rider. Ah, a quick glance down showed the brown to be right. He did look pretty bad, and in front of the goldrider too! "Well...ya'll have fun with this. I need to get into some dry clothes. Good luck R'yn!" Grinning, he gave a wave to his younger friend before starting to jog away from the group. Good timing, Tomoth!
