warning, dead thing This was found by my neighbors house and I have no idea what it is. Looks too big to be a mouse, too small to be a rat and the face looks like a hamster... What is it? D: I seriously go crazy when I find an animal and I can't figure out what it is

iDiru what about it's short nose then? I believe there are a few different kinds of shrews, you are (I believe) thinking of the elephant shrew? regular shrewselephant shrews

It's nose was pretty much smashed into it's face and it looked natural

It's nose was pretty much smashed into it's face and it looked natural it to me looks like the first one, but the fur is really poofed out on the one you found making it appear like its nose is shorter, shrew are the only little mouse like mammals that have those kinds of tails that I know of...

As a zoologist, I'm 99% certain it's a vole. smile
Moles and voles have distinctly different dentition compared to the rodent-like dentition this vole has, since they are classified in Order Soricomorpha (previously Insectivora) instead of Rodentia, as voles are.
