Hi all. I don't know if anyone here can help me on this but I got my FIRST Wand this week, its made of Selenite and so should not use salt water to cleanse it. I was told the really best thing for it is to use the Moon. So I'm asking how I would do this, and what the best way is!

Thank you smile

You can also use sage, burning it cleanses the area and items as well.

XD I was gonna suggest sage too, but you beat me to it!

If you don't have access to an occult store or herb shop, you can buy sage at any grocery store in the spice section. It's usually available as either "ground sage" or "rubbed sage". Ground sage is like a really fine dust, and rubbed sage is in little flakes. Most grocery stores will carry a line of organically-grown spices--however, they are generally more expensive. It's up to you.

A bundle of sage would be easiest for smudging (cleansing things with smoke from herbs) but sometimes we have to adapt & improvise. Also, if you're working with burning ANYTHING, REMEMBER FIRE SAFETY.

I went through a house fire that pretty much destroyed just about everything I owned when I was in 11th grade, so I'm very careful when I burn anything.

(The fire had nothing to do with me, it was an electrical fire, but even so. Better safe than sorry.)

I'm not familiar with the physical properties of selenite but you might want to put it in a glass bowl of water and leave it out under a full moon. If water would be damaging to the stone then you might want to just leave it out under the moonlight.

As this is a new wand this is more than a simple cleansing. It is the event during which the past will be wiped from this tool and it will arise with a clean slate to begin a new life as your wand. More important than the mechanics of the act be mindful to treat the occasion with the weight it deserves. A song of celebration or words of welcome to your new tool to nark the occation would not be out of line.
