Spencer placed the rabbit between them. "You can have this one, too, if you're still hungry. I slipped off and caught it while you were busy eating." He smiled and waved a paw. "Don't worry about manners, when you're hungry you're hungry. Besides, girls who take dainty little bites of their kill annoy me." Sure, he had an old-fashioned way of looking at vixens, but the priss's still got on his nerves. Maybe that was his issue with Glacie... she was too spoiled to really take care of...
No. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. He'd not think of his lost crush anymore. Spencer recognized his bitterness clouded his thoughts and he didn't want to remember her that way. She was a good girl, just... not his type. There. That worked.
Now back to the vixen at paw. "And you are quite welcome, by the way. May I ask how you got in this predicament?" Suddenly he was concerned. Had she been sick? Had she been attacked? Her pelt showed no signs of struggle, but maybe she'd healed and was weak from hunger by that time...

"Oh really?" She looked at him surprised and smiled. "Wow... no one has ever been this nice to me before." She beamed at him. "Thank you vary much for the offer but I don't think I could eat another bite." She chuckled. "Im full from the two you gave me before. Why don't you take it. I feel bad that you gave your kill to me...." She looked down frowning. "Im sure it took you a wile to get them..." She then looked up at him. "Oh... well umm..." She blushed. "I was traveling through this area but there just didn't seem to be much game around... that and... Im... not much of a hunter..."

"Dont; I would be a jerk of a fox if I didnt help out a vixen." Spencer flopped down and started knawing the rabbit. As he ate, he watched her. "Names Spencer, by the way. Forgive me for not introducing myself properly." That was one thing he often forgot, was names.
"Took no time to catch. I know this area." He was quite the hunter, in fact. While the miss was right, game was few, Spencer knew the holes and hide outs of prey. That knowledge was aquired through residing in the area for a long time. It amused him to hear her admit she was not a hunter herself. Spencer smiled a little. She... She was quite a vixen. Quite... Protectable.
But he wasnt dating for a very long time.

"Oh names!" Holly blushed. "I cant believe I forgot.... how rude of me..." She glanced up at him. "Spencer? Thats a nice name." She smiled. "My name is Holly." her tail wagged. "Well you were vary nice to me Spencer... Your the first male that has been kind to me... actually..." She blushed again. "Your the only male that I have met... not that I haven't met males before... your just the nicest one... the last male I met pushed me into a pond..." As if remembering what happened her mind wondered as she looked blankly at the ground.

"What?!?" The male jerked his head up with obvious agitation. How dare a male do that to a vixen! Fur bristling and the side of his lip twitching in a snarl, Spencer muttered some quite obscene remarks about these males that frankly the pretty miss in front of him should never hear. Swallowing the last of the rabbit he pushed to his paws, fur still standing along his spine. His mind had been made up.
"I will personally see to it that no male ever does you harm again, Holly." The sledfox growled, eyes still narrowed at the thought of the ones before him. He didn't care if he hardly knew the girl, he didn't care that his heart was on the mend, he didn't care if she wanted him around her or not. The only thing that mattered was her safety, and he wasn't about to let her walk away from him and be hurt again. No way, no how.

She looked up at him surprised. No one had ever told her that before. She couldn't believe it. Did this male really want to stay with her? She didn't know what to say. Oh but he cant just drop what he was doing to travel with her could he? He must have some other things he needs to do then follow her around and take care of her.
"I... I don't know what to say." She smiled at him. "No one has ever wanted to travel with me before." She blushed a little. "But... Are you sure? I... i don't want to be burden to you."

Spencer nodded, then blushed a bit as his posture relaxed. "Er, that is, if you'd allow me to." He realized that if he forced himself as her guardian then he'd be no better than the others. That kind of defeated the purpose, didn't it?
"I... I don't have anywhere that I'm rooted, so you wouldn't be dragging from anything. And I think every vixen needs someone to watch her back, so you wouldn't be a burden. Besides, again, I'm offering. You're not asking. If it was too much trouble I wouldn't have even given you the rabbits. I promise."

"Oh..." She blushed. "I suppose you have a point don't you..." She couldn't believe that she had forgotten about the fact that he was nice enough to give her his catch. If he hadn't wanted to help her he never would have done all the nice things he did. "Im sorry I guess Im still a little surprised... no one has ever wanted to come with me before." She smiled as her tail wagged happily. "Im so happy that you want to come along with me. It would be nice to not have to travel all alone. I would love to have you along." She blushed. "Um... that is if you still want..."

The male snickered. "Yes well, traveling alone hasn't been the best of times for me either." Sure, the peace and quiet was nice, and he didn't have to provide for anyone other than himself, and he could set his own pace, go where he wished... But freedom only filled so much in life. It would be refreshing to have a companion, and a purpose. He didn't race anymore, so he just lived his days wandering. It was... lonesome. Peaceful and free, but lonesome.
And this vixen sure had some interesting quirks about her.
"Well, then its settled. We travel together!" Wait. "Er, where exactly are we going?"

Holly nodded as she smiled. "Thank you... I never expected that I would meet someone like you." She blushed a little as she spoke. "I must sound silly..." She laughed nervously. "Its just... as I said before... I don't get the chance to talk to anyone..." Of course when he asked where she was going she had to think about before. "Oh... well... I wasn't really going anywhere... I was more... searching..."
