B ʀᴀxᴛᴏɴ “Bʟᴀᴄᴋ” Tʜᴀᴍᴇs▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Black had slept rather peacefully despite all that was going on. He had slept late into the afternoon and slowly woke up, carefully untangling himself from Lina. Pulling his arms above his head and stretching with a groan, the werewolf moved to take a shower. So much had happened the past couple of days, and the Alpha Thames didn't feel like thinking much on it right now. All he wanted to focus on was getting clean and letting the hot water relax his tired muscles. Once his shower was over, he moved to brush his teeth, and moved into his large closet to get dressed for the day. He had to go to the company to oversee the repairs that needed to be done because of his idiotic brother. Pulling on some slacks and grabbing a shirt and his jacket, Black pulled them all on before pulling his hair back. He could unbutton the buttons later when Lina wasn't around. Looking over at his mate, Black threw his towel into the hamper and moved to sit on the bed. There he smiled down at her, and ran his fingers through her hair. Letting out a happy sigh, he bent down and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "I love you more than you will ever understand..." Chuckling and running his knuckle across her cheek, Black stood up and moved downstairs where he children played happily. They all ran over to him, hugging his legs, and asking him where he was going. "I'm just going to work for a bit. I have to check on some things and I'll be right back home. Make sure you be good and listen to your mother, alright?" Giving them each a kiss and a goodbye, Black moved to the garage and grabbed a set of keys to one of the many cars.
Climbing in and getting situated inside, the werewolf was soon off and going to the company. He was still pissed that Nate had went through his entire security with ease, but what more could you expect from a pissed off werewolf? Humans weren't strong enough to take them on, and it made Black start thinking. Maybe he should hire some of the wolves? They would make good guards and next time Nate decided to blow up, they wouldn't be thrown around like a couple of rag dolls. Even then though... Would that be enough? Nate was a Thames werewolf. The strongest and purest of them all. Nate had the strength and courage to be an Alpha but he lacked the restraint and discipline. If his brother ever wanted to be an Alpha, he would have to go under a lot of personal training. No one could teach him the things that he needed. It was all on him. Blowing out a sigh and shaking his head, Braxton parked and walked up into the company and looked over everything. So far, everything looked like it was going good. Then he reached his office and looked at the mountain of paperwork that was on his desk. Of course. He could take all of this home though. The male didn't want to be too far away from home at the time. So grabbing a nearby briefcase, Black shoved all of the papers inside of it and moved back downstairs to his car. Then he was driving back home.
Hearing his phone ring, Black grabbed it and answered it. Nodding his head and letting out a relieved sigh, the werewolf hung up and felt a bit better. Adrian was safe and Nate had calmed down. Good. Adrian didn't need to be around him when he was all pissy and angry. Lina would be happy to know that her sister was safe and happy. Pulling into the driveway and handing the keys to one of the workers, the Alpha walked back into the house and looked around. The triplets must be upstairs playing and hearing a thump from upstairs and some fighting between Trystan and Anoura, Black chuckled and walked around until he found Lina. Pulling off his jacket and laying it on a nearby table, he pulled his hair down and undid the buttons at the top of his shirt. Much better. Lina couldn't be angry with him since he was back at home, now could she? Chuckling and following her scent, Black found and walked up behind her. Sitting the briefcase down and wrapping his arms around her, the werewolf kissed the back of her neck. "Miss me? I know that I missed you." Kissing her cheek and letting out a happy sigh, the werewolf rested his chin on her shoulder. "I've got good news. Dad called earlier to tell me that he is with Nate and Adrian. Everything is okay and from what Dad said, they are quite happy." He hoped that it made Lina relax.
Kissing her cheek once more, Black stepped away form her and picked up the case loaded with papers. "Want to help me with some paperwork before dinner? I could use your help." Smiling at her the werewolf let out a happy sigh. If only things could stay this peaceful... ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʀᴜᴇ ᴀʟᴘʜᴀ ᴍᴀʟᴇ

There was endless questions on the female's mind, most of which concerned the pack and the current happenings. War would come, and it would devour the peace in her children's lives. She couldn't let them bear witness to the carnage that war brought with it, and so when she managed to doze, laying against her mate, it would only be a few minutes, before some thought would awaken her from her sleep. The night was long, and seemed ceaseless. At one point, Lina gave up completely on the idea of sleep. She couldn't fathom how a peaceful rest would come to her. Black must have been exhausted to sleep like a champ, as he was. Her body was tangled with his, and she didn't wish to unwrap her limbs form her mate simply because she could not sleep. Besides she didn't wish to wake him. The days would be busy, and everyone needed as much was they could. Besides, she would have to be up early for her children. She relied greatly on her father-in-law, but he was out looking for Nate and Adrian, so she could not sleep in today. No. She would have to rise early and make sure her children minded the rules of the house. She smiled softly, closing her eyes to the darkness, holding to her mate, and eventually drifted off into a light sleep.
She felt the moment Black left her. Her eyes fluttered, but she simply closed her eyes once more, too exhausted to get up at that point. Her stomach churned, warning her that her body hadn't gotten enough rest. She simply grabbed one of Black's pillows as he left for the bathroom, and curled herself around it. It wasn't a substitute, but at least it smelled more like Black, then it smelled like herself. She smiled, burying her face in the fabric and down, inhaling her mate's scent as she drifted back into light sleep. She was so tired, not even dreams came to her. She was deep into exhaustion where dreams couldn't reach. She didn't hear the shower turn on or off. She didn't see Black emerge from the bathroom. No. She was asleep. She did hear him when he spoke to her. Lightly, she felt a kiss upon her forehead and she smiled. Her hand gently curled to his knee for a moment, but when he left, it returned to the pillow. Her eyes closed, she heard the soft click of the door, but did not register that it would have been time for her to get up. She was simply too tired. She curled tighter around Black's pillow and gave into the thralls of sleep once more, this time, falling deeper then she intended.
When small hands pushed forcefully at her back, Lina barely registered the touch. When a stronger hand touched her shoulder, and voice of an older person reached her ears, Lina bolted upright in bed. Her children were on their way out the door, ushered out by a maid. There was one of the butler's, waking her, with a look of worry on his face. It must have been something urgent. When he mentioned that two of the pack were down in the foyer, Lina nodded, thanking the elder man, and drug on a robe quickly making her fervent steps down the stairs, into the foyer, to see two battle worn women. They apologized for coming into the mansion unannounced, but assured that the matter was urgent. Lina waved away their apologies, and heard the news they reported. Another attack form the enemy, towards the southern lands of the pack border. Two of the pack had died. Lina shook her head, a hand flew to her forehead. She should call Black. That would be the responsible thing, but these women needed help now. Lina nodded her head, promising to pass on the message and do a run herself. When both women left, Lina quickly made her way back up to the master bedroom. She shucked off the robe, thanking the butler and maid once more, for their quick reaction. She also apologized for sleeping in so late, and causing them any trouble with her children. The assured her it was no worry, and Lina nodded, getting ready.
She checked on her children, making sure they were okay. They hadn't seen the women, and it was a sort of miracle. Lina shook her long tresses, and ran a brush through them quickly. She saw no point in getting dressed, as she'd have to shift to do a patrol. She did organize an outfit for when she returned. The silk chemise nightgown would be gone once she sifted, but that was no problem. The raven haired female was in the closet, pulling out a pair of boots for her outfit, when her mate took her from behind, hugging her body close and kissing the back of her neck. Lina smiled gently. Black asked if she missed him,s he nodded, and listened to his news of Sire Thames finding Nate and Adrian and reporting that they were happy. Lina smiled at this. However, when Black asked if she wanted to do paperwork, her smiled turned sad. She needed to report. "My love... there was another attack today. The southern boundary. Two of our own lost their lives. I told the women who reported that I would go out and run. That I would tell you. The children are playing. I've slept far too long today. I'll need to go out there. Just to assess damage.... they're probably very shaken. We can't just leave them to fend for themselves without direction. I'll come back and do it? We'll do it together then?" She looked at him sadly. She expected him to argue with her going, but she felt the need to go out and see this matter through, She had told the women she would see to it personally. If she did not go, would they think her a coward? She didn't want to take that risk. She needed to be strong for her pack, just as Black did. Besides, she would come right back. She leveled her gaze at black, standing on tip toe to kiss him tenderly. Surely, he would understand her point of view, would he not?

Bʀᴀxᴛᴏɴ “Bʟᴀᴄᴋ” Tʜᴀᴍᴇs ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ While he was at work, Black had the same nagging feeling from the day that his brother had come in, and tore his office apart. The werewolf wasn't sure what could be wrong... but then again... his lands were under attack. Surely they wouldn't attack during the day though. Doing so would be stupid. It was like the were asking to be caught and hurt. Like they were looking for a fight. Rubbing his forehead as he closed his eyes, Black looked at the mountain of papers sitting on his desk. He really had been slacking in his work lately, but the werewolf honestly didn't feel like being stuck in the office. Blowing out a sigh and grabbing the first packet, Black started to look through it. However, his thoughts drifted away from work and back to his family. Something just didn't feel right and he knew he needed to be back at home. Grabbing a briefcase, the man quickly shoved all the papers inside and started the drive back home. The hair on the back of his neck just seemed to stand up, and as he sat in his seat his fingers drummed along the steering wheel. He didn't like this feeling. It felt as though he was being eaten from the inside out. It wasn't a comforting thing to experience, and it only made the werewolf move a little faster. He had to get home.
When he had finally pulled up to the mansion, Black handed the keys off to the doorman, and was quickly greeted by his children. Smiling down at them as they hugged his legs tightly, letting out a laugh as Trystan tried to climb up his back, Black asked where their mother was hiding. Learning that she hadn't been awake for long as worrisome, seeing as Lina had a set schedule and never strayed from it. Pulling off his jacket and walking into their bedroom, Black set down his briefcase as his eyes slid across her body. Smiling gently as he walked up to her, the werewolf pulled his mate back to his chest as he placed tender kisses to the back of her neck. Telling her about his father finding his brother and her sister, Black nipped at her shoulders. Why was she staying silent? Black was sure that she would ask him more questions about the two. Moving on, he asked if she would be interested in the pile of paperwork hidden inside of his briefcase. Looking down at her, the Alpha Male didn't like the frown on her beautiful face. Something had happened. Growling and walking away from her as she gave her report, Black pinched the bridge of his nose. How could he concentrate on the company if his pack was being threatened with war? Sighing and sitting on the edge of the bed, golden eyes looked up at her. "No! I do NOT want you out there Lina! What if someone came up and knocked you out, and decided to drag you over to their lands?! I would go insane with rage and I wouldn't be responsible for my actions! So you're not going out there! I don't want you too.."
Pushing his hair back and letting out a sigh, Black looked up at her. He knew that his was important to her. He was aware on how bad that she wanted to be a part of the packs' lives and be able to help him protecting it, but... the werewolf was willing to admit that Lina was more important. If he lost her than he would be lost. Closing his eyes and unbuttoning his shirt, the man slide it off of his shoulders, and continued to think quietly. She was just going out to assess the damages. What could be the harm in her doing that? Growling and running a hand across his face, Black stood up and walked over to her, looking down at her with worried eyes. "I know how important this is to you, so I am going to allow you to go out there. I'd feel much better if I could run out with you, but I must stay here with the kids, seeing as Dad isn't home yet. Please hurry. If you are not back in an hour, than I'll come out to find you." Giving her a sad smile, Black gently kissed her forehead and watched her go before changing into something comfortable in order to play with his children. Sitting in the theater with his children piled up into his lap, the four watched some fairytale animated movie while Black thought quietly to himself. With Lina out there and him not, would the pack think that he was weak? He should have been the one out there to make sure everything was alright. He was the Alpha Wolf. Closing his eyes and getting comfortable, Black refused to think about it. If one of the younger pups wished to challenge him, then let them. Black would show them where there place was.
By the time the movie was over, the Thames family was all sleeping soundly in the large black chairs. Black had laid down at one point and his precious Anoura had curled up on his chest, Trystan laid beside him, and Dimitri and curled up and was using his thigh as a pillow. It would be alright to take a nap with his children for a little while. He would wake up in a little while. He had to make sure that Lina was at home safe and sound after all...

He had always been secretive about the pack, and kept her from it. Not that she didn’t know what she needed to know, but anything that came close to dangerous was off limits to the she wolf. It bothered Lina that she was not in more contact with her people. After all, as the mate of the Alpha male, she was bound by duty to the pack as well, was she not? Yet, she was cooped up inside all the time, only allowed out at social events where she was meant to be flaunted as a prize. It bothered her deeply that she was an idol to be respected, yet never actually did anything for the pack. That was why she set herself straight, determined not to cave when the onslaught came. For the most part, she had never been argumentative with her mate. She more often than not did as he asked and took care of her children. She compromised and supported him, more often than not putting his wishes before her own, but she felt like putting up a fight with this case. It felt wrong to ignore the promise she made, even if it would mean dealing with a surly mate later. She would have to take that risk as she moved forward in her determination with going forth with her run to assess the damage on the outer territories of the pack land. She wasn’t going to let Black’s anger or overprotective quell push her down. She would stand tall and fight him on this point. She couldn’t back down, not after she had steeled herself up to argue to do what was right.
Her lip strong, and back straight, she readied herself to argue back, even as Black drew closer to her. She was certain he would try to tell her once more that she couldn’t go, but when he looked down at her worried and vulnerable, she faltered. Was this the right thing to do? He looked so shot with his worry. And these events were stressful enough. She really didn’t want to upset her mate, but she was strong enough to go assess damages. When Black instead granter her permissions, setting limitations and boundaries she took her chance and nodded her compromise. ”Of course, darling. I understand. I’ll be back soon. I promise.” She smiled up at him, going up on her tip toes to place a kiss gently on his cheek, before kissing his lips. She held his hand, giving him a smile, and a quick squeeze to his hand before she turned for the balcony, leaving the room, and going to the railing. She paused, her hands gripping the decorative railing. She turned back to look at him, a gentle smile on her lips as she looked him over. ”I love you. I’ll be back soon.” She climbed up onto the railing and paused another moment, looking back at Black. ”Don’t spoil their dinners daddy.” She smiled once more, a little mischief in her grin, and then jumped from the balcony to the grass below, lining the path of her backyard, and took off into the tall growth of trees at the border of the mansion’s reaches.
Once in the woods, she tripled her pace, crushing twigs, branches, leaves, and small shoots that were reaching desperately for the sun from under the layer of dead foliage that covered the ground. Black waves cascaded behind her as she trailed through the woods, reaching the first villages of the pack, and checking there to make sure everyone was safe, sound, and accounted for. She assured everyone there that things would be safe, and that she was heading out to the farther reaches of the territory to make sure everyone was indeed alright. Once she had finished with the first village, she started for the dens that were further out from the mansion, and closer to the edges of the Thames territory. She stopped at each little settlement to make sure that she made contact with everyone, and took care of their worries, as well as provided communication on safety and what would happen to prevent further attacks. When she finally reached the southernmost boundary, she was not prepared for the onslaught of damage that she saw. Dens and belongings were strewn around. There were several wounded. Children cried, or huddled together, keeping close, afraid to venture too far from the center of the lodgings. Others walked around caring for the wounded or rebuilding some shelters that were a bit more ransacked then others. Another r group sat, doing their best to look strong, even though it was obvious to Lina that the women were mourning, and then men were doing their best to cope with the grief of their women. Pain shot through the alpha fae’s eyes and she went first to the mourning woman, offering her condolences and apologies. She then talked to the men to get a better understanding on what had happened during the attack. Taking hold of the damages she saw, she was distraught. The only option was to rebuild. Those that had settled on this part of the land would not budge. They would stay to fight and defend their home in revenge of those who had so greedily come to try and steal it from them.
She stayed for a while, knowing that Black would soon be worried, but she couldn’t help it. It would take this long just to discuss safety and new beginnings before she could come back. She still had to touch other parts of the boundary. Once she bid the attacked settlement goodbye, she headed to the next. She kept her head strong, letting the wolves know the plan if there was another raid. It was as if her words incited the very things she was trying to prevent. A small party of outside wolves came and made an ambush on the small party she had taken with her to run the pocket of territory. They came swiftly, and fought deftly, even against the men and woman of her own pack. Thankfully, no casualties consisted, but there were wounds. Lina was not unscathed, but she was not maimed. She looked to her running party and made plans to return again, possibly with Black, to assure that these little raids would stop happening. After that, she dismissed herself and headed painstakingly back up to the house. She was swift, making sure that eyes would no pry upon her. She would bruise, and had a few cutes, but she wanted to get as clean as she could before Black saw her, lest her think there was more to her injuries. Sneaking up into the master bathroom, she sank into the tub quickly, to soak out the soreness and rinse off the grime. Once she was clean, she went out to find her family, leaving her hair down to mask some more of the battle she had fought. She would not be coddled o reprimanded when she knew the risks of going on her run in the first place. She was fin and would present herself as such.
When she found her children with their father, snoozing in the small in home theatre, Lina gave a soft smile. Her children were draped gently over their father, and Lina thought the pose was adorable. She moved lightly so that she would not wake her children and kisses black’s temples gently to let him know she was there before she tenderly moved her arms around Trystan’s sleeping form and gathered his body up into her arms so she could carry him to his bed. She looked to black, gesturing to the other two of her triplets and mouthed the word “bed” to her mate so he would understand where they were to go. After all, the sun had sunk down low, allowing the moon to start chasing the velvety darkness of night into the sky. Curling her younger son closer to her chest, Lina placed a tender kiss to his forehead before she gently rested him into his bed, pulling the covers up over him. She only prayed that her children would indeed stay asleep. She had business to discuss with her mate, and she preferred to speak to him alone about it, especially when he started to look closer at the façade she was putting up. She had no doubts he would begin finding the cracks, and starting pushing his way through until he understood the whole story. She didn’t want her children to have to witness that. She wanted them safe and sound for as long as they could be. Now was not the time to reveal a war brewed in their backyard.

Bʀᴀxᴛᴏɴ “Bʟᴀᴄᴋ” Tʜᴀᴍᴇs ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Black was enjoying his time with his children. He honestly couldn't remember the last time they had just been together, without their mother. The wolf knew that he needed to spend more time with the triplets, but with all the work at the company, and the threat of a pack war... Black was lucky he could sleep! However, that was no excuse. He needed to spend more time with his children, so after Lina disappeared into the woods, Black gathered the triplets and had a small dinner before going to watch a movie. They didn't get far into the movie and quickly fell asleep. Black normally didn't dream and when he did, they always seemed so real. This dream he was running across the farthest parts of the territory when he was attacked, and when he fought back, Black felt weaker, smaller. Then he was running off and Black's dream faded into black nothingness.
When Lina came back and grabbed Trystan, the werewolf opened his eyes. Opening his mouth to ask her if she was alright, he quickly stopped when she said to keep quiet. Well, the triplets did need to get into bed, so Black held his question back. Picking up Anoura and Dimitri, he followed his mate upstairs. As they walked upstairs, the werewolf's eyes couldn't help but catch the time on the old wooden oak grandfather clock. Narrowing his eyes as he held back the growl, Black continued to keep quiet. He couldn't say anything right now. He had to wait as bad as he hated to. Making his way into the nursery, Black laid down Dimitri and Anoura into their beds, and as he passed Lina he caught the faint smell of foreign wolves. Worried but angry eyes looked over her form, searching for anything out of place. Black almost walked away but stopped when he saw a faint bruise. Growling softly, the large man walked out and quickly made his way to the master bedroom.
Sitting down on the edge of the bed, Black crossed his arms across his chest and watched the door. She wasn't back in an hour and something had happened out there. Growling once more, he quickly stood up and walked out on the balcony. Leaning forward with his hands on the rail, Black scanned the woods, hoping that one of those b*****d wolves would pop out. He wanted to punish them for what they had done, and what they were going to do. Running his hand across his face, Black knew what he had to do. He was sure that Lina would be against it for sure. Hearing the door open and close, Black turned around and narrowed his eyes before looking away. "You came back late... and on top of that, you smell like other wolves." Putting an emphasis on the word "other", the Alpha wolf walked towards her, and looked down at her with a frown. "On top of that, I believe you're hiding something from me. I'd like to know how you received the bruise that is peeking from underneath your shirt collar."
He wasn't screaming or being atrocious nor obnoxious. Of course that didn't mean he wasn't angry, because he was livid, but it was more out of concern and worry for her safety. "What if something had happened to you? Next time you go out, stay close to the larger living areas. Leave the outer and furthest regions to me" He had a feeling that she would be angry about that, but Black was set on it. The man wouldn't let her be attacked again. Taking her hand, he ran his thumb across her knuckles. "You probably see me as being unfair but I want you safe. I need you to be safe, so please listen to my demands." Kissing her forehead, Black pulled her close and rested his cheek on her head. "There is something that I must do tomorrow and I'm sure that you will hate it too..." Pulling her to sit down with him, Black took her hand and started to draw invisible designs on her palm, before bringing it to his lips and kissing it gently.
"Tomorrow I'm going to visit the DeMonte Alpha. It is time we had a chat and set some guidelines. If it is a war that he is after, then I will give him one. However, I am going to make sure somethings are quite understood." Giving her a small smile, he stood up and started to stretch. "And no. You cannot come. This a meeting between the Alphas only. It must be us and us alone. Now. I'm going to take a shower and go to bed." Walking into the bathroom, Black closed the door silently behind him. He couldn't help but wonder what Lina was thinking, and wonder if she would try to follow him anyways. Letting out a sigh, the man quickly took a shower and dried of before slipping into bed. "Lina please don't be angry with me. He cannot start anything while discussing things, if he should, he will loose all honor as a wolf. Something that he isn't willing to loose." Pulling her close to him, Black nuzzled her neck. When he called for that meeting tomorrow, Black was going to make sure that the DeMonte Alpha knew just exactly what hr was doing, and what he was going to loose if he went against the Thames pack.
"Lina love, I want to make sure you and the children are safe. That is my only wish..." Closing his eyes, the large man quickly fell asleep. Waking up the next day, Black let out a yawn and smiled at his lovely mate. "Meet me downstairs for breakfast?" Kissing her cheek, the wolf got dressed in a dark grey short and some jeans, then made his way downstairs to find his children waiting patiently for breakfast. Chuckling and kissing the tops of their heads, the werewolf sat down next to them, asking what their plans were for the day. Listening to Anoura and Trystan go on about their plan to slay dragons and rescue the distraught kingdom. The man smiled and looked over to Dimitri who was quietly enjoying his newest book. It was these kinds of days that he wanted to make sure his children could have and enjoy, and he was going to do everything in his power to make sure that happened.

≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ She had known it was only a matter of time before he would start asking questions. Better yet, she knew he would see the bruises faster than he would ask the questions on how she got them. Her mate was not a simpleton, and he was quick to notice everything, which contributed to why he was such a good alpha. Lina had needed to put clothes on, but had she needed to try and hide? Was she really even hiding the bruises from him? Yes. Yes, she was. She felt as though he would think she was incapable to defend herself if he had seen. Not to mention, he would keep her cooped up inside the house like a little housewife when he saw the marks, instead of treating her as an alpha. She shared his rank. That’s what mates did. Especially alphas. She couldn’t just sit by and let the pack suffer. Not when they had children, and she was a mother herself. Not when she could do something about it. She wasn’t a frail little human anymore that cringed and was hurt by everything. She wasn’t a treasure in the keep of a dragon. She wasn’t a slave that cleaned offices. No. She was a werewolf, and a mother. She was loyal and strong, and would do whatever it took to protect those she loved, and that extended out to the members of the pack and their children. It was not just lack’s job to ensure safety. It was her own as well, and she would not sit idly by and let things happen around her when she could make a change on them. So as she laid her children into bed, kissing their cheeks, and fondling their tiny little ears, she smiled, hearing the growling behind her. She knew what would come, but she would not let it ruin the moment now.
Telling each of her children that she loved them, she moved deftly from the room and shut the door quietly, knowing that once morning came, there would be noise instead of silence. Black had already gone, and she walked purposefully to their master and shut the door behind her, looking to the open balcony doors that caught her eyes. Black was already making his way to her. He seeed larger than usual, which only seemed to mean he was angry. She wanted to look him straight in the face, challenging him with her own strength, but she knew it wasn’t the time. Instead, about halfway to her, she dropped her eyes, a small frown working into her features. A crease forming in her brow, the only sign that she might have been aging at all, no matter how slow. When he began to speak to her, charging her with her crimes, she kept her gaze on his chest, keeping her face still, trying not to counter the words that came from her mate. He only worried because he loved her. He only protested because he wanted her to be safe, with him, for as long as possible. When he mentioned that she might have been hiding something from him, she closed her eyes and inhaled. Of course he would think that, instead of the fact that she didn’t want to run naked around the house, especially when she had to put her children to bed. And in all fairness, the outfit she had chosen was more of a bundling fashion than one that was simply to clothes oneself. She brought her shoulders up for a moment, taking a breath and letting it out, before releasing it and looking straight at her mate.
He began asking her the “what if” questions and she removed the sweater, slowly peeling away layers of clothing, so she could reveal her body. When she finally stood naked in front of him, it was clear, even in the shadowy light left over from the moon outside, that there were bruises on her legs, neck, and shoulders. A few cuts dotter her arm, and one particularly bad bruise was upon her inner thigh, form where she hadn’t been able to stop a well-placed kick from happening. When she was tugged to his lap and held close, she closed her eyes. She wondered if he would snap in rage. For now, he had been so well-mannered with his anger. She knew he was probably livid, but he was managing it so well. She couldn’t be dishonest with him anymore than she had been, so she let her clothes come off to reveal the bruises beneath. He kissed her hand gently, letting her know that he had formulated a plan in his mind that she was probably going to hate, and when he revealed his visit to the DeMonte alpha without her presence, she bristled, pulling her hand back from him, and looking him straight in the face, unable to help herself from doing it. He was going to go visit an adversary without her? Was he insane? She wasn’t letting him go alone. Period. It would not happen. She would concede to all his other demands and requests, but she would not stay home while he went to visit the DeMonte alpha. Black had stated “It was a meeting for alpha’s only”. That sunk it home, and she stood up, glad he was already walking towards the bathroom, otherwise she might have yelled and let him have it.
Steaming, she went for the balcony quickly, not even minding that she was naked, and any wolves near the edge of the wood would see her. She closed her eyes, gripped the hard railing of the balcony and stood in the moonlight, hoping it would find a way to calm her, before she went in and ripped Black a new one. Her tongue worked like a knife, wanting to cut through the vision that they didn’t share the same position. She wanted him to know just how his words made her feel, but she thought better of it, and instead climbed into bed, wrapping the blankets tightly around her body. When Black came out of the shower and climbed in behind her, trying to coax her into his arms, she stiffened. He began nuzzling her form and she sighed, drawing the blankets tighter around her. ”Don’t, Braxton. Not now.” She was trying so hard not to be angry with him, but there was no doubt that she was livid about his dismissal of her status. Instead, she simply pulled away, curling up tightly and went to sleep.
When morning came, Lina was already awake and getting dressed. Black kissed her cheek, and asked her to meet him downstairs for breakfast. She watched as he walked out, thinking nothing would be happening as she tugged on her boots and buttoned her sweater. Puling her hair up, and back, instead of letting it hang around her face was something she almost never did, but today, she found it appropriate. Heading downstairs, she smiled at her children, seeing her eldest son with abook in his hands. She stopped at his side, kissing his cheek and told him gently, to put it away while they had breakfast, promising that the white whale would wait for his return to the ship to find out what happened next. She then look to her other two children and smiled, kissing each of their foreheads, telling them that they would be going out today for some fun. With a smile, she sat down at one end of the table, smiling at her children as breakfast plates were brought in. Once they had finished their meal, full of good talk and happy ideas, Lina dismissed her children to their playroom, saying that she would be up to instruct them further in a few minutes. Then she faced her mate.
Taking a deep breath, she looked at him squarely, releasing the tension in her shoulder, trying to be as calm and collected as she could. ”I’m sending them out today, so that they won’t be here when we’re both not here. I’m going with you. And I you forbid it, I will follow you. A meeting for alphas means that all alphas are present. As your mate, that makes me an alpha too. I concede to all your other demands, but I will not let you go alone. If you have someone try to stop me, I will fight them, and I will still end up at your side. You will not go without me. I will not allow it. That is my command. If you wish to challenge me on it…I am prepared to fight you for the right to travel with you. I really do not wish for that, so I think it would be better if you simply granted me permission. I will not bend on this matter.” She fixed him with her steely gaze, waiting to see what his response would be. Undoubtedly, he would not be happy, but she wouldn’t let him tell her no. Not in this case.

Bʀᴀxᴛᴏɴ “Bʟᴀᴄᴋ” Tʜᴀᴍᴇs ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Black knew as soon as he said those words that he would regret it. He wasn't trying to belittle his mate in any form or fashion but the words that slipped his mouth made it sound that way. Talk about a bad case of foot in the mouth.. What the Alpha Male had really meant that it was it was meant for Alpha Males... and that Black wanted to be the only wolf that the DeMonte Alpha would see. The other wolf was known to try and steal females that he thought was beautiful and strong, and Lina fit that description perfectly. Black had wanted to protect his beautiful mate. Not belittle her but he should have thought about his words before he opened his big mouth! Now he was the biggest a** in the world. Watching her angry expression, the werewolf felt bad for his words. They were harsh and cruel and the male was determined to find a way to make it up to her. As she got up and moved to the balcony, Black watched her with a frown. It was clear that she didn't want to listen to anything else he had to say and that the conversation for tonight was clearly over. Sighing heavily and shaking his head, Black leaned against the headboard of their bed. He really needed to think about what he said before saying it next time. Watching her walk to the bathroom, Black was ready to get up and join her until she shut and locked the door. Damn... he was in trouble. Frowning and pushing some of his hair back, Braxton Thames laid down and closed his eyes. He really did need to find a way to remedy his mate's anger. If he didn't... well... he was afraid to know what she would do to get retribution for his words.
When Lina came back to bed, the werewolf had fallen asleep and woken up just a little. Feeling the mattress depress, the male automatically reached out for her, ready to pull her close, and fall back asleep. However... it didn't work out that way. Feeling her pull the blankets tighter around her and tell him no, the werewolf woke up completely and looked at her. How was he supposed to sleep? Pouting as he looked down at her, the man sighed and decided to get up. He couldn't fall asleep with her being so cold and angry... he needed to hold her close so her scent and body heat could comfort him until he fell asleep. Walking towards the door, he looked back to the bed with a frown. "I am sorry for the cruelty of my words. It is my only wish to protect you and our children... Rest now so you can heal. I'm going to do some paperwork." Looking at her back, Black sighed and quietly shut the door before walking to his office, rubbing the back of his neck. What was he going to do? If this war didn't kill him first, then it was going to ruin his relationship with Lina. Stopping by the triplets room to check on them, Black peeked his head in and smiled gently as he heard their soft snoring. He wanted nothing more than to let his children have a normal childhood.. The werewolf didn't want them to grow up in a time of war. Black would make sure that they would be safe. No one would hurt them.. and if they did... so help the poor soul who wronged his children, because it would be a slow and painful death.
Quietly shutting their door, Black made it to his office and started to shift through the many papers that littered his desk. The man truly hated paperwork and he wished that the people who worked for him would stop giving him so much. The contents of the paper usually covered the same thing. It usually was along the lines of how much money was spent or the budget costs. It was always about money and others claiming that they needed more. Which was a complete load of bullshit. Sighing and make notes on some and trashing others, Black finally finished his paperwork after an hour or so. Sitting at his desk, he frowned and decided to get up and start cleaning his office. What else did he have to do? It wasn't like he could go back to bed and fall asleep. He would just lay there and stare up at the ceiling. Stopping to look out his window, Black leaned against the wall as his troubled mind started to stir. The only weighing most on his mind was Lina... It still bothered him that he had hurt her so much when it wasn't his intention. He had just wanted to keep her safe. That was all he had wanted. Shaking his head and running a hand down his face, he was getting ready to turn back to leave when he saw a shadow dart through the woods. Letting out a growl, Black quickly made his way outside and shifted.
Running into the woods, the black wolf kept low to the ground as he followed the scent of the unknown wolf. Did they honestly believe that they would get away unnoticed? Black could feel the presence of three of his wolves flanking him, ready to attack if needed. Climbing up to a hillside, Black laid down and watched the DeMonte wolf sniff and walk around as if searching for something. Picking his head up and watching curiously, Black watched as his pack members circled the wolf and then finally trapped the creature. Walking up and studying the wolf, Black told the wolf to run back home and to to his Alpha to get ready for his arrival. Growling and watching the foreign wolf run off, Black snorted and ran with his pack to patrol before heading back home. Sneaking quietly into his room, Black grabbed some clothes and headed into a spare bathroom to take a shower. He didn't want to wake up Lina. She needed her rest. Laying back on the bed, Black put an arm behind his head as he stared up at the ceiling. This just didn't feel right... He wasn't meant to be in this bed. Sighing and turning on his side, Black forced himself to fall asleep. He needed to get some rest if he was going to be on his toes tomorrow.
Waking up a few hours later, the werewolf let out a groan and got out of bed, stretching as he walked downstairs into the kitchen to eat breakfast with his children. There he waited patiently for Lina as he sipped on his coffee and listened to one of his sons and his daughter tell him about their plans for the day. Letting out a laugh and joining in on the conversation when Lina came into the room, Black looked at her and waited for her to eat. He could talk to her after she had some breakfast. Eating another plate as she sent outthe children, Black looked up at her with a raised brow. When she started to explain her actions, he couldn't stop the frown or the crease in his forehead. This stubborn, outrageous, glorious woman... Closing his eyes and sighing as he pushed himself away from the table, the werewolf looked up at her, clearly not amused. "Lina, my love... I admire your strength and your pride, but do you honestly think I'm leaving you out because I do not see you as my equal?" Getting up and taking a step closer to her, pale eyes looked her over. She was beautiful and strong... His own personal goddess. One that he wasn't willing to share. "The DeMonte Alpha is a known womanizer and his favorite hobby is to take claimed females for his own. I did not want you to become his new obsession. This war is enough and having him coming after you would just lead me into a fit of rage. We both know we need a cool and level head for this upcoming war."
Black was a jealous man. He was willing to admit that but looking down and seeing that angry and determined look in Lina's eyes... the male knew he didn't have a choice so with a sigh, Black turned his back and started to leave the room. "Give me a few moments to get ready and I will meet you outside. Do not leave without me Lina... I do not trust him. Especially around you." With that said, Black ran upstairs to get dressed and then met his mate downstairs. Looking her over, Black frowned and then started the hike to the meeting spot on the boundary lines. The walk was silent for the most part, seeing as Black was going over what he was going to say to the man, but as they got closer Black could smell more DeMonte wolves, making him growl. There was at least two but it wouldn't be a challenge to him. He could take them. Stopping as soon as he saw the other man, Black growled softly before walking over to him. It was game on...

Her muscles were coiled underneath the calm layer of skin that covered everything>S he was more than ready to rip into Black if he would not give her what she wanted. She didn’t want to fight, but the simmering edge of assertion was boiling within her. She hated it. It was bitterness on her tongue. In her heart. She didn’t want to to fight this man she loved. Not one bit. But she would not concede on this matter. She couldn’t. She was not weak. He didn’t realize it, but she had something to prove to these DeMonte wolves just as much as her mate did. She had been beaten yesterday, but she would not go down without a fight. Yes, there had been casualties on both sides, but a casualty on her side meant that she had lost. The hit she had taken had been a small defeat, and she was not ready to let this slide. If there was a meeting of Alpha’s, Lina was going to be there. She wouldn’t let Black do it all by himself. He needed her, whether he saw it or not. Her hatred for the DeMonte clan simmered in her blod along with her rage, and she knew some of her anger at Black had been misplaced but it was too late to apologize for it now. She needed to focus her energy on staying level headed enough to take on this issue. She knew if she let herself give in that Black would always win with her. She’d regret the decision later, and she couldn’t. Even if Black was her mate and the joy of her life. She couldn’t lose again. She had to show that she was fearless. And after all, this meeting was not supposed to be violent. She didn’t understand why he was coddling her so much.
And then it hit her. With a full force, just as Black’s words rang into her ears. He was jealous. Jealous of the DeMonte alpha. Worried that she would turn her eye away from him. She relaxed her posture, but forced her jaw in place, most likely looking very strange. She wanted to let her jaw drop at the realization but she couldn’t. She was probably even more angry now. And Black was going to let her go. She closed her eyes and counted to ten. When Black turned to leave the room, Lina watched him go. Once he was clear away from her and the room she upended one of the chairs, startling a maid who was trying to clear the dishes. The pale look on the woman’s face instantly quelled Lina’s rage. Instead, the raven haired female moved slowly to touch the woman’s hands and offer immense apologies which were quickly thrown off by the maid. It was clear the woman was still a bit shaken, but a smile worked its way onto the younger woman’s lovely features and Lina smiled tenderly, up righting the chair before she ventured outside and to the line of woods to wait for Black. She had no doubts he had heard the commotion. She only hoped that he would have the better sense not to ask her about it. She was still ticked at him, and wasn’t going to let him off the hook that easy. Not this time. She didn’t know why she was so tightly strung. Most likely because she had tossed and turned all night in her anger, and Black’s absence, but she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of admitting it. She was calm and collected, or at least that was how she had to look going into this meeting. Even though she was anything but those two adjectives.
When they began their trek through the woods, they walked as humans carefully picking a path that was trodden by wolf paws more often than not. The closer they got to the meeting place Black was leading them to, the more Lina wanted to shift. Her wolf was gnawing at her, trying to work it’s way out, but she had to maintain composure. The scent of DeMonte was everywhere. The alpha must have brought quite an entourage, but the Thames pack was behind their alpha’s as well. Lina could feel them. Eyes and bodies moving after their leaders, waiting to see the outcome of the meeting of enemies. Lina prayed that the confrontation would remain nonviolent as it had originally been chose to be situated. A soft growl from Black was the only utterance from either Thames alpha the entire trip to the set location. Once they arrived, Lina couldn’t say what would happen, but she felt the tension in the air, almost as though she could cut it with a knife. Hell, she wanted to grow claws and see if the air was thick enough to be cut by them. She wouldn’t, of course, not when she could practically feel the DeMonte party, but the urge to show her strength was mounting more and more furiously.
When the reached the clearing the raven haired female looked upon the assembly that was present. Her eyes moved quickly, calculating. There, standing in front of the rest was a cocky looking man. Lina’s eyes fell flat upon him. She knew without a doubt by the way he carried himself that she was looking at the DeMonte alpha. Her jaw tensed, wanting to pull into a snarl, instead, she forced herself to look elsewhere. If she was caught dwelling there, she wasn’t sure if Black would get the wrong idea or not. Instead, she looked at the other wolves in assembly, trying to assess strengths and weaknesses as she let Black do what he needed. He would make his own assessments of what they would do, and obviously had a plan on what this meeting would consist of, but Lina would back him up and support him in any way she could. After all, the DeMonte alpha had a sick feeling to him. He was powerful, she would not deny that, but the way his scent and presence rained over her made her nauseous. If he was such a womanizer, Lina didn’t understand how women could stand to be in his presence very long. They either had to have been weak willed, or this Alpha had not tried at all yet to do much of anything but intimidate. And that in itself was a huge turn off. Lina gently brushed herself against black as she moved slightly to crane to see if there were more wolves hiding in the tress, It was a gesture to assure her mate, as well as count the numbers. Either way, she hoped it reminded Black that they were there in solidarity. She would not let their pack be taken by this man that extended a sick and twisted nature into his presence. She couldn’t let the other wolves feel what she did. She wouldn’t.
