What is a Dark Mirror Senshi?

Dark Mirror Senshi are the reinvented parallel race of senshi from a world beyond a mirror. This secondary society is born from the Black Moon senshi, who were once corrupt and led by Queen Nehelenia who sought to take over the White Moon Kingdom for her own gain. She was defeated by Princess Serenity, purified, and returned to her kingdom to start again as Order-aligned fighters.

In our current time, the parallel senshi returned to the White Earth to chase Wiseman and Black Lady, an evil tag team that stole the crystal of Queen Nehelenia. In getting that crystal back, Nehelenia brought the souls of a few parallel senshi through the mirror and merged them with civilians. Following her death, that pathway was cut off -- until the rise of Princess Ares.

Though the old members of the Black Moon are still trapped forever through the mirror, Ares is able to create new parallels by drawing the unawakened energy of parallels through the mirror into their awakened White Moon counterparts.

They are different from corrupted senshi and regular senshi both in abilities, auras, and alignment -- though they are similar when it comes to functions.

Basic Guidelines

[01] This is not the old parallel court. This is a new court composed of parallel senshi who never awakened in the Black Kingdom and were not even aware they had the potential to henshin inside of them.

[02] This faction is Chaos-aligned.

[03] This faction is OPEN – that means anyone may quest for one. They will be easier to get than a corrupted senshi, but slightly more selective than a normal senshi.

[04] Members of this faction follow Princess Ares. Other positions of leadership must be earned through roleplay.

[05] Their goal is to create a new life in the White Kingdom by converting all senshi to parallels, killing all who resist, and leaving Earth and all its weak humans behind to repopulate space instead.

[06] You can NOT be converted to anything else once you become a parallel senshi.

[07] Converted White Moon senshi must abandon old civilian identities, though you will retain memories of your civilian and powered relationships (just not the identity of anyone beneath the fuku).

[08] Unawakened senshi may be awakened as parallels through the combined forces of a corrupted guardian cat and Princess Ares.

Faction Profile

Mission Statement: The true purpose of the parallels has always been to serve Chaos. When Serenity purified Nehelenia, she tore at the fabric of reality. It is not Nehelenia's fault that her essence was marred in such a way, but when she returned to Earth in modern times, she did so under the spell of Serenity. The Black Kingdom was never meant to purify. They were, and have always been, servants of Chaos. Now it is time to get back to their true purpose.

Leader: Princess Ares

Members: The new parallel senshi -- all corrupt. These senshi are regular senshi who have had their starseeds swapped with their parallel counterpart by the magic of the Dark Brimstone Crystal. The various planetary senshi never awakened in the Black Kingdom so these new parallels have zero memories of the parallel universe because they never lived there. This is a new breed of parallel senshi.

How Do I Become One?: Ares baptizes you in a mirror.

Because the parallels are different from the White Moon, they do not corrupt in the same way. When Nehelenia was evil, she was affected by Chaos directly, much in the way that Beryl is. No one reached a hand in her chest and changed her -- and her parallel senshi became corrupt because of their connection to her, because Chaos moved into the mirrorspace and pulled them all under its sway. For this reason, the parallels have never been wholly good. They exist on a gradient with more of an ambiguous nature. They form alliances and plans based on what is best for them, not because of some greater good (like how Serenity ruled). It is why parallel auras have always felt different to others -- they feel like senshi, but not the same as a White Moon senshi.

With a corrupt ruler holding a corrupt crystal, the parallel senshi will become corrupt.

What Will Change ICly?: White Moon senshi who are transformed will lose the ability to travel into space to their planets or recover any significant memories from their past life as a White Moon senshi (if they remember things, there would be a massive disconnect, a feeling like that wasn’t really them, etc). Sorry! They will also lose the ability to use their senshiphone. All dedication to Serenity and the royalty of the White Moon is gone.

Reborn corrupted parallels will gain the ability to mirrorwalk and speak through mirrors to other parallel senshi. They would retain all of their Destiny City memories (except those memories involving the civilian identities of any senshi; those would be blurry, or replaced with the powered form of that individual), but would have to abandon their old civilian self. Their recognized leader is Ares while Nehelenia is trapped in her rebirth cycle (though, with the willing destruction of her crystal, it is possible she is just... dead forever). They become corrupt! They cannot consume starseeds, but they can "charge" themselves for battle using energy collected from people trapped in mirrors.

What Will Change Art-Wise?: New eye color! New title on cert -- but same sphere and name. When you grow, you may request a fuku that seems more parallel-like, but you will not receive new art when you first become a parallel (if it happens outside of a growth).

Allied With: Other servants of Chaos

Goal: To transform every senshi into a parallel and rebuild the parallel existence in the White Moon, relinquishing Earth and the Moon to the Negaverse and attempting to recreate an interstellar society on the rest of the planets in the galaxy.

Communication Device: Mirrored Compact; only works parallel-to-parallel.

Stages of the Dark Mirror Court

Dark Mirror Regular Senshi
- Cannot take other people through mirrors, only themselves; cannot mirrorwalk to space or to distances outside of the continental US.
- Mirrorwalking is like jogging for them and can only be done so often as a human might be able to continuously jog in a single day.
- Cannot linger in mirrorspace unless another parallel takes them there.
- Entrusted with one mirrorwraith for energy gathering.

Dark Mirror Super Senshi
- Can take one person with them through a mirror. If they attempt to take 2, it is very tiring. They are incapable of transporting 3 or more.
- Mirrorwalking by themselves is easier for them, less tiring.
- Are capable of stopping their mirrorwalk mid-transport to linger in mirrorspace for no more than 24 hours at a time.
- Entrusted with two mirrorwraiths for energy gathering.

Dark Mirror Eternal Senshi
- Can take 3-5 people with through a mirror, but the normal restrictions of mirrorwalking apply. Taking 5 makes them feel like they just sprinted with 5 people on their backs.
- Mirrorwalking by themselves comes as easily to them as walking normally.
- Are capable of stopping their mirrorwalk mid-transport to linger in mirrorspace for 72 hours, if need be.
- Entrusted with three mirrorwraiths for energy gathering.

Mirrorwalking

Mirrorwalking is not as accessible as teleporting, but it is typically easier for a parallel senshi to do compared to their Nega counterpart. The main drawback to this is, obviously, that there must be a mirror present for a senshi to pass through whereas Negas can go anywhere they have been before. Similarly, parallels can travel to any mirror they are aware of and have visited before. So if a parallel knows that their best friend has a full length mirror in her bedroom, then they can go from their room to hers. However, if they have no idea where a mirror is in the house of their crush, then they can't.

Only true mirrors can be passed through, not just reflective surfaces.

The mirror needs to be slightly larger than the size of the senshi for this to work. At higher levels, parallels can dive headfirst through smaller mirrors, if necessary, but the general rule of thumb is that a mirror has to be at least the size of the senshi or larger for this to work. There will be no crawling out of someone's compact mirror or slipping through a shard of glass, not even for Ares!

The sensation of mirrorwalking is like diving through a pool. You enter very fast, then there is a cool sensation and the feeling like you are moving through water, and then you pop out on the other side. So if you sprint through a mirror, you will come out the other side jogging. If you fall five stories through a mirror, you will fall out the other end as if it was a three story drop. Before you pop out on the other side of a mirror, you will see blurry shapes and hear muffled sounds of whoever is in the room where you are about to pop out, but again, this is like you are listening through water.

Dark Mirror senshi will need to learn how to mirrorwalk in the same way that wizards at Hogwarts had to learn Apparating and Disapparating. It takes practice to get good at it!

Mirrorspace

Mirrorspace is the fuzzy between state that Dark Mirror senshi can go to for privacy. It functions in much the same way as the Negaspace. White Moon senshi, Negas, and civilians may be taken to mirrorspace, but only in the escort of a Dark Mirror senshi of the appropriate power level to do so. In order to get here, a parallel senshi must slow down their mirrorwalk so that they linger in this place. However, that is what they are doing: lingering. Once a certain amount of time has lapsed, they will be pulled from mirrorspace to complete the mirrorwalk they slowed down in order to stop in for a visit.

Physically, it appears as a shifting, misty place. You walk on the ground and are able to pick up and hold things. There are chairs and doors, but everything appears the same whitish-gray color. The throne room for Ares is located in this place. Within her throne room, there is a chair where she sits as well as a mounted place for the Dark Brimstone Crystal. The walls have mirrors all over them, some containing senshi/civilians who are being drained of their energy. A tendril of red-black energy connects the Crystal to the mirror. If the crystal is moved, then the process stops. This is where Ares more or less spends most of her time.

Mirrorspace is constantly shifting. Dark parallel senshi can change the shape and contents of any room (outside of the throne room) by merely thinking it. However, this is incredibly challenging to do. Typically only eternals can reliably summon things -- desks, chairs, wall hangings -- with success. A super might hope to summon a bed and instead pull up a couch or pet bed. Because of this, the shape of the rooms of mirrorspace are in a constant state of flux.

(The appearance of mirrorspace is partially inspired by this.)

Mirrorwraiths

A mirrorwraith is a ghost-like monster that is non-corporeal. It is incapable of causing any physical damage whatsoever! It is not, I repeat, not a weapon, a companion, or anything other than a tool for gathering energy. It is the byproduct that is formed when energy is seeped out of Order-aligned beings using Chaos energy in one of Ares' mirrors. It remains behind in the mirrors created by Ares, which shatter when she releases the person trapped inside. (Why would you kill a human when they are a renewable resource, duuuh?) She then collects the pieces. These pieces, about the size of the palm of a hand, contain a single mirrorwraith.

Mirrorwraiths are the means by which non-royal parallel senshi collect energy. Parallel senshi cannot touch or consume starseeds like Negas. Instead, they can release a mirrorwraith who passes through a target and absorbs energy. The more energy they consume, the more corporeal they become. And when they start to get corporeal, they can now be attacked by the person they are trying to steal energy from. However, if they are hit ONCE, they explode and the energy is lost. So the idea is that these things flit about, sap some energy, and then dive back into the shard of glass. If the shard of glass is broken, the energy is also lost.

Dark Mirror senshi have a pouch somewhere on their uniform that contains these shards of glass. Regulars are entrusted with one. Supers can have two. Eternals can hold three. Each shard holds a single mirrorwraith. If the mirrorwraith is destroyed or if the shard is broken, it is lost forever and they must get a new one. All mirrorwraiths are created by Ares' mirrors, and all energy gathered from them is filtered into her crystal.

Losing a mirrorwraith is very bad because creating them is not even remotely close to as fast, simple, or plentiful as how Negas make youma. If the parallels don't bring enough energy in, then Ares is incapable of making the wraiths or awakening any more Dark Mirror senshi. It is a cycle that must keep going to maintain their power!

Mirrorwraiths are non-sentient. They are ghosts and only gain tangibility as they swell with collected energy. They just come out and fly at the nearest non-Chaos being while exhibiting mild evasive measures to help avoid easy destruction. They are mostly designed to be used after an enemy has already been incapacitated and are very easy for a lieutenant to destroy. To a bystander, they would look like shadows that flit in and out of mirrors.

As a complement to how Negas can eat starseeds, parallels can shatter charged-with-energy mirror pieces against their tiaras and absorb the energy collected by a single mirrorwraith into their bodies instead, giving them the same boost that a Nega who eats a starseed would get. However, since this energy is vital to creating more parallels, it is highly discouraged for a senshi to do this unless there is no other option.

Negas are still able to collect more energy on average. The parallel method is not as efficient. Mirrorwraiths are not personalized. They are different every time. Someone might hang on to a particular shard for awhile, but there is no connection there. Mirrorwraiths are just tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be able to quest for one of the Inner/Outer parallels that were available before the shop reopened?
No -- Ares lacks the power to merge awakened souls together. She can only do this with an unawakened parallel. The Inners/Outers are awakened through the mirror so... no dice.

So these new parallels will not have merged souls?
Nope! The parallel counterpart of your senshi was never awakened in the Black Moon. They have no past memories. They are, essentially, newborn parallel babies. The personality of your senshi will remain the same, but now they serve Chaos and have no qualms about it.

Will this faction be bloodthirsty?
No, not necessarily. The Dark Mirror believes that all White Moon senshi are just misled souls who need to see the truth. They believe that converting them to dark parallel senshi is the only way to save them. In order to achieve this, they are willing to spill blood, but in general, the Dark Mirror thinks they are on a noble mission and will often try to verbally reason with other senshi first. They want to reform the other senshi, not destroy them.

Why are Cavalier Laocoon and Zirconia not corrupted?
Cavaliers operate on a different wavelength than the senshi. So long as the Black Moon ruler has a corrupt crystal, all of the senshi attached to that crystal will be corrupt. There is no Black Earth ruler in DC and no crystal. So Laocoon is unaffected. Zirconia is a special case as well being a guardian cat. She would have to make the choice to corrupt on her own. Ares can't force it on her or Laocoon.

Will Dark Mirror Knights be available?
Currently, no. The power that Ares wields is pretty closely related to senshi. But never say never!

How can I get one? Do I have to bribe?
Nope -- just quest. These are questable!

I'm confused about what happens to the memories of a converted White Moon senshi. Explain?
The memories for converted parallels will be handled in the same way that purified Negas are being handled. If Ares knows Sailor Maia is Lily, then she will forget about the connection between the two of them. She will simply remember her friend Lily, and then the senshi who was in the Blood Moon Court with her. They will be two different people to her, and she will NOT ever be able to reason her way around this fact. Any memories that would reveal Maia's identity become blurry to Ares. However, all of the people who knew that Ares was Fallon still would. So she can never return to being Fallon again.

Will converted White Moon senshi get glamours?
In civilian form, yes. Fallon could sit next to Lily, but Lily would have no idea who she was. All civilian friendships are lost. Your character will remember them, but they will never be able to go back to them. They will still be totally recognizable in their powered forms.

So what will people think happened to my character?
This is up to you, for the most part. Most of them just go onto the ever-growing list of missing persons in Destiny City. You would be welcome to plot a staged death, or to write a letter to family telling them you have run away. But you are not able to reveal yourself to parents, or other family members, after your corruption. There is no going back to those relationships unless you choose to befriend an old companion under your new civilian identity.

Why would General-Queen Tanzanite and the rest of the Negas who suffered under the Blood Moon Court accept this new faction as allies?
When Ares and the BMC tortured the Negas, they were under the delusion that what they were doing was right. In truth, they were on the wrong side. Now that they serve Chaos, the division that separated them before is gone. It is likely that many of the Negaverse might resent Ares and her faction for some time, but on a political level, they will work together because of their mutual goals.
