Osu lay sprawled out over the wooden floor, his tongue sticking out the side of his mouth in concentration. Long lengths of broad, white ribbon were scattered about the floor along with an open book.
The writing on the book was not English. Rather, it was one of Ieyasu's Japanese books that Osu had found. The characters had looked so much cooler than the letters that Osu knew. They were almost like minature pictures! He had asked Yasu what the symbols had meant, and Yasu had shown him the writing for words like fox and crane and fire. They were hard to write small, so Osu had found some big ribbons that he could put them on and Yassu had let him use paint. It was fun making the strokes. He had practiced a few times, and now he thought he had them nice and not wibbly now.
Being very careful not to spill any little droplets of paint onto the ribbon, the little Aerandir slowly painted the finishing stroke onto a character near the end. He had just wanted to try and make the characters originally, but the ribbons all looked kind of cool. Maybe he could find something to do with them. That would be so awesome!
With Osu being occupied, Ieyasu was taking the opportunity to have a quick nap in the warmth of the sun. Lying on the patio with his hands clasped behind his head, the kitsune was just beginning to doze off when he heard a muffled chirrup beside him. A moment later, he felt a brush of movement against his chest. Opening one eye, he saw a small red and grey mass sitting on his shirt. Wait a minute... that looked like.. The kitsune sat bolt upright, the little bundle rolling off of him and onto the ground next to him. He looked down before grimacing. Sure enough, a bloody and very dead rodent had been deposited on him as he slept. Sasha sat next to him, tilting her head and chirping at him. Didn't he want her present? Ieyasu glanced at the gryphon before his eyes moved to the remains of her prey, and then to the small red stain on his shirt. He gave Sasha a wry smile. "What am I going to do with you, hmm?"

The morning was still relatively cool as Sasha made her way down onto the beach, padding quietly along the golden sand. Maybe she could find some crabs to hunt along the surf. They were funny, the way they scuttled and waved their claws at her in an attempt to be menacing. They were no match for her hunting prowess!
Heading down the beach, the sand under her paws became damper as she came closer to the sea. She prowled up and down the length of the beach, ut unfortunately, there didn't seem to be any little creatures for her to catch. The gryphon sat down on her haunches. If it had been possible for her to look disappointed, she would have.
A flash of colour further up the beach caught her eye suddenly. Chirruping softly, Sasha rose to her feet and headed over in that direction. Several brightly coloured feathers tumbled across the sand, caught in the sea breeze. Intrigued for a few moments, the gryphon pounced on a bright blue feather before letting it go again. Feathers were fun, but they were just toys."Sasha! Sasha! Where are you!?"Sasha looked up as she heard her name being called. She stepped back from the feathers and gave a mewling call to the bright orange figure making his way towards her. She took a step towards him before another object caught her attention. It was jutting just out of the sand, most of it seeming to be buried. It didn't move in any way, but for some inexplicable reason, she wanted to find out what it was.
Veering away from Osu, she made a beeline for the buried 'thing'. Reaching it, she began to dig at it furiously, wanting to unearth it. And then one large, sand-covered paw brushed against it.
The instant she touched the stone of the object, an odd feeling coursed through the gyphon. She froze, and for a moment, nothing happened. Then, a faint glow surrounded her. The gryphon began to change. Her limbs grew, her paws began to change into hands and her body altered. Eventually, everything seemed to settle into place and Sasha was left on the sand. She stayed silent for a moment, unsure what to make of this new experience. Then, she cautiously held out her hands in front of her. She had long arms and legs, and she had fingers! Flexing her hands experimentally, she tested out her new body. This was... different. In front of her, the previously-buried object lay, now unearthed from the sand. It was a small flint dagger, its hilt wrapped in sandy cloth. Carefully, she moved to pick it up with her newly prehensile fingers. She could hold things now. Enthralled, she stared at the flint dagger, trying to comprehend everything that was going on. She was so caught up in her thoughts, that she didn't see Osu approach her.Sasha? Sasha! That was so cool! You changed and grew and glowed! You're all big now! Wait until Yasu sees you! He's gonna be so pleased!" Osu grinned widely, slightly out of breath from having run across the beach to her. "Can you walk? We need to go back to the house and wake him!"Sasha looked up at Osu. "O..su?" she said almost hesitantly. She was normally bold, and sometimes even fierce, but this was all new to her. After a moment, she moved, trying to push herself to two feet. Having never been bipedal before, it was only a brief moment before she wobbled and fell. She wanted to do this though. She could prove that she was as big and strong as Osu, and she would walk back herself. On two legs. Pushing herself back to her feet, she tried again.
