It is a simple question with potentially complex answers. Let's hear from you.

In my view, Spirituality should provide comfort, solace, support, and happiness in a non-physical way. I don't think it's quite the same as faith. Faith is what you believe, spirituality is how what you believe affects you and, to some extent, the world around you.
Excellent question, my friend. I may need more time to mull this over. Give me awhile and I'll post in more detail.

Thank you, the main reason I posted this question is because I recently had a discussion with a friend, when I tried to describe to he that hiking in the mountains was a very spiritual thing to me, she couldn't understand how an atheist could possibly be spiritual. When I tried to explain, she just kept insisting that I must have a connection to a deity in order to be spiritual, so I wanted to hear other opinions on this subject. I'm not confused on this situation but I wanted to hear other opinions.

Taking into account that man is a creature of mind, body and spirit a little comparitive analysis provides a very neat answer.
We know what it is to be physical, or physically fit if you will. It means to eat healthy, to exercise, and to take part in physically demanding activities such as sports. In other words, to care for the physical self and use it for tha which it was intended.
We know what it is to be intelectual. It means to learn, to study to nake good use of ones knwledge and wisdom, in other words, to to care for the intelect and use it for it's intended purpose.
Therefore I think spirituality, or the act of being spiritual can be defined as careing for the spirit and using it for it's intended purpose. Whether this means quiet prayer or voisterous racaus whorship services, simple daily affirmations or elaborate rituals, precise practices preformed on precise days or simply taking a walk and having a talk with the mountain will be a personal and individual thing.

For me, Spirituality is simply comfort in what you can't touch. A place to go to to feel serene and at peace, wheather it be alone, or with a leader or guide.

Spirituality is, to my mind, the result of a personal belief and understanding about the nature of the universe and one's relationship to it.
This is different from Religion which is the shared beliefs and practices of the group. You can (and should) have spirituality with your religion. But you don't need religion to have spirituality.
