I recently went to Video Games Live in Philly. There were a ton more girls there than I thought !! But what made me upset was that that the media that was there were only talking to guys. I even saw girls near the cameras but nobody cared to ask any of the girls to talk about the show and what they thought about video games. Oh well, I guess we will forever be the black sheep of the gaming industry.

`Stardust Why do most guys assume that girls dont play video games? I have yet to read a label on a game that says "Boys only" What do you think?? because they probably grew up in a family where the father or grandfather was very arrogant and stuck in the past instead of opening his eyes to the new ages to so that girls CAN do anythign guys can do...well almost anything but i wont get into that small detail...

Girls aren't usually so rabid about it. It's usually just a past-time for us.
Notice I said "usually".
I play fulltime xD
But society hasn't quite caught up with us yet, they can't fathom that we'd want to be doing this instead of shopping. Before it was them not being able to fathom us wanting to shop instead of cooking and cleaning. Give it time.

I personally think guys are threatened by us girls. They see us as moving into their domain, their territory. I mean, think about it. Video games were originally made for boys. At least, the games and gameplay pointed toward the male gender more than it did toward the female gender. They're threatened that we're getting better and better at stuff originally designed for them. They're afraid that we'll eventually take over 'their world,' and that they won't be able to enjoy the stuff they used to because we would then own it.

I honestly can't believe that either. I guess it's like football or monster trucks; they consider it a "Manly thing"
Which is sexist, in my opinion. stare

Swayambhu The majority of men I've met that were real hardcore gamers, also have never had a girlfriend before. There have been few exceptions that I have witnessed. sweatdrop On Diablo II (expansion pack), I joined in on a Baal run with my necromancer. Slaughtered many, did my curses, summoned undead... They asked me to join them more on Cow and Baal runs. "Leik, dood, u rule" "..I'm a girl, not a 'dood'. e_e;" "omg ur kidding. grlz play on Diablo!?!?1" "Er..I should hope so. I'm sure I'm not the only girl here. neutral " "o, ok...a/s/l?" "......" So yeah. confused It..really bothers me when guys a/s/l me, too. stare your not the only one...i hate it when they do that because they dont even know your name....i just think its a rude question

blah, hate it when the 'YOU'RE A GIRL WHAT?!' thing happens...most of my guy friends have accepted the fact that yes, i can and will beat them. (most of the time...and thankfully mine aren't jerks and don't rub it in my face. well, some can be, but such is life.)

I think that it's really stupid for them to think that. Of course girls play games!
