Its because of furfags.
Now I don't mean furries in general, I mean furfags. People who think they and everyone around them needs to know they are a furry, wanting it to shove it down everyones thoughts just because they have that big of an ego the size of a 500 LBS fat man. They wear tails and ears in public JUST for attention, and think that furries are a culture, and not the clique/hobby/fanbase like its supposed to be.
These people want everyone to know they are a furry, they think admitting they are a furry is like coming out of the closest, and actually think its a bigger deal. So they will force themselves on their friends, using the horrible, god awful furry acronyms, annoying anyone around them.
Touching on my second reason is that people think furry is a culture. Its not. Nor was it ever one. The fandom was founded for the love of classic cartoon characters, rule 34 came up, but never really touched on that much. Then as the fandom grew and changed, porn became more apparent, people began to make their own character personas (Not fursonas. Furry acronyms are retarded, not cute, not unique in anyway, just annoying.) and the fandom became something awesome. Then with the rise of furfags, made it a personal mission to ruin whatever was awesome. We will never be a culture, we can never compare ourselves to the many cultures (Featuring Jewish) that suffered through the Holocaust, we are not going through a genocide like the Hut-tus in Rwanda, and we've never existed for more than a century. Furries get trolled, everyone gets trolled, but just because a couple furfags get trolled and get butt hurt about it does not make it a persecution. Referring it to that as is only pisses people off more.
Done. And most likely you'd skim through this and not get the point, just yell "TROLL LEAVE ME ALONE OMG!" and reinforce the stereotype. Lets just hope I am wrong about my prediction.

Well its also because People always associate Furries with sexuality. It doesn't have to be about sexuality at all. So when ever the general public thinks about furries they and their dirty minds think of furry porn and Bestiality <.< Not always 100% true some furries Just associate themselves with an animal that suits their personality its just as anyone who takes horoscopes seriously associates themselves with the star sign they are given. Just because they associate with the idea of it doesnt mean they want to have sex with their star sign same goes for furries. Not to say that its a bad thing to like that type of imagery but you know everyone has that thing they enjoy. <.< Some more "Normal" things would make some of us go eww too >.> its all about preference.

Many Furries seem to flock and roll in drama. But it's also the general misconception about them. The problem many people have with Furs is they think we all wanna ******** dogs because of the art that is drawn. They are canine in features, but that doesn't transpire (for some) into bestiality. Also, bestiality is a totally separate entity from the Furry fandom. Furry can be a gateway to bestiality, or some zoophiles get into Furry because of their attraction, but the two should never be considered the same. Furry =/= zoophile. But not everyone knows/believes that.
There are freaks in the Furry fandom, yes. But there are freaks everywhere.

People typically don't like furries for two reasons:
1. They are clouded by the small percentage of furries that use furry fandom as a sexual expression. I think the official statistic of "furries that are furry for sexual purposes" is 8% or something. I'd have to check on that.
2. They are clouded by the people that are mentioned in #1, but in reality don't know anything about furries.
Furry fandom is exactly what it is: a fandom. There are all sorts of fandoms. Sports fandoms, anime fandoms, comic fandoms, celebrity fandoms, music fandoms, you name it! It's very likely that people within all of those fandoms have a sexual connection to it as well (Believe me, I'm a psychology major on the human sexuality track). But like our 8%, that percentage is very low.
How are furries going to burn in hell? All dogs go to heavan. (Haha)
(I don't believe in hell).

There are freaks in the Furry fandom, yes. But there are freaks everywhere. Exactly, and its not like we are the butt of every joke all the time. Yes, a lot of furs are into that stuff, but not every one of them. And typing up a google search for beastiality won't show furry beastiality either. But again, someone makes on joke and a furfag gets butthurt and tghey blog about it. Hey, why arn't all the comic shop owners in the streets rioting over Comicbook Guy in the Simpsons because he's a stereotype of comic shop owners- OH s**t WAIT, sense of humor.

Lets just hope I am wrong about my prediction. Hey, there's nothing wrong with furfags, as long as they don't get right up in your face about it all the freaking constant time. And I do like to display my furriness in public, and I consider it to be a culture as well (mostly because I hate "fandoms"... fandoms are, to me, an anime thing, and I hate anime.) but I don't like it when people want to be obnoxious and pushy and demand that everyone be like them. Furries who think they need to convert all the non-furs are what bothers me...

And the people who say that furries should be banned can easily walk past a homeless person on the street, but look down at us for drawing animals wearing clothes! The world is full of ignorance.... But we're just gonna tolerate and love the heck out of it...
