 Fable McCaffery
Death Before Dishonor __________________________________ "Sake ain't the most beautiful thing in the world, sweetheart. It's damm close though." Fable said, the pain in his smile disappearing to the usual carefree look he always wore. He was tempted to make another short joke, but held his tongue. Their would be plenty of time for arguing later, about height and love of alcohol.
Fable looked at Captain Mira. She seemed to have the thousand yard stare, something that Fable had seen many of his older crew mates have before. It's a result of remembering the past, the things you've seen. Fable has gotten it many times before, his mind clouded with burning boats and screaming. Hopefully she would get out of it soon, he wanted to get his sake and set sail.
"In till the captain get's out of here trance, how did you end up joining the crew?" Fable asked, looking back at Arella for an answer.____________________________________ I have already made my choice. You have lost yours.

Arella stared at the captain, then looked back at Fable. She was taken back by his new approach to talk to her, it was too personal for her, but she reminded herself. Her name was too personal to her. She thought of something simple to tell him,Water rocks, so now I rock with it. Or It was my dream to do this crap. She laughed inwardly at herself, this was never her dream. Was it? She's never been happier on her own, has she? She looked at Fable and decided to tell him half the truth, she started off slowly,"When I was a kid I ended up with these pirates. They were, they thought I was funny? I don't know, I was a pirate with them for six years. But I needed something new, so I left them and met Captain Mira. It's a smaller pay than my last crew, but I'm not in it for the money, just the freedom. What about you? She quickly changed the subject, she knew she must have looked awfully uncomfortable talking about herself.

 Fable McCaffery
Death Before Dishonor __________________________________ Fable took little notice in the desperate tone in her voice as Arella asked how Fable found his way onto the crew. "Well, sweetheart, how I ended up in South Port is a long story." Fable said as he sat down next to Arella on the crate. He loved telling stories of his past, and decided to start telling it now. "My stupid parents died when I was 13. It was because they didn't eat enough fruit, or so the ship's doctor said. They left me alone on a merchant ship, heading straight for Singapore, and they had no intentions of letting my leave with them." While talking, Fable made himself comfortable. leaning back against the crate.
"So there I am, this stupid 13 year old child abandoned in the streets of Singapore, and can't speak a word of Chinese, Japanese or any other Asian language they had. The moment I found a ship that spoke any English whatsoever, I hopped aboard and set sail." Then Fable began chuckling softly. "What they failed to tell me it was that I had just joined a Pirate Ship." Then Fable stood up, swinging his arms around as he told his story. "So I joined many different ships, pillaging and learning languages all the way. I went from Singapore, to Thailand, to China and finally I ended up at the great island of Japan. I joined a crew of Wako Raiders there. They are like pirates, except a hundred times more deadly. Fable paused for a moment, remembering all his feats during his time in Japan.
"They didn't use cannons or firearms, not even sails. It was all done using sword, bow and oar. At one point, we were boarded and I managed to strangle a Samurai to death. He was the other ship's captain, and I got his katana and battle armor as reward for my heroism."Fable's hand then rested on the masterfully forged katana hanging at his side. It was just as much of a piece of art as it was a weapon, and it was Fable's most trusted companion. "Because I now was so well equipped for battle, I became part of the boarding party, and I was expected to leap 10 feet across the water, fully dressed in armor that weighed well over 30 pounds. It didn't take me to long to master using that katana, and became one of the best swordsmen on our ship. I was a recognized hero to them, and everyone on shore feared my name." Fable's eyes then drifted down to the floor. "Then the unthinkable happened. We lost." With fists clenched, Fable kept talking. "We were forced to retreat, and our Captian gave his title over the his lieutenant. Then he committed Seppuku, witch means to kill yourself by splitting open your own belly, to keep you honor. The new Captian promoted me to lieutenancy, and we sailed away from Japan. Far away. All the way to were I met Captain Mira.. I couldn't bare staying on that ship, I missed our old Captain too much, so I asked permission to stay. They left without me, and I gave them the Armor I had earned so many years ago as a parting gift. Then Fable relaxed and sat back. "Then I joined Captain Mira. I met her in a bar. Joined the crew, sailed to here, drank some Sake, went for a walk, had an fight with the shortest nineteen year old I had ever met, and told my story about how I joined Captain Mira's crew. End of Story." Then Fable smiled and nodded, giving Arella a thumbs up for listening to the entire story.

Arella stood there, "Sounds like a story my sister used to make up." She said without thinking, he had forced her to relive the night fires of her childhood, listening to her sister tell outlandish stories that could never happen. Well, she knew now they could happen. They always happened. Then it hit her, "Not that your story was made up, it's just,"she forced her sister from her memory, and scolded him, "I don't care how many ships you joined, how well you fight with a katana, or how heavy any of your armor is Fable! Stop calling me short!" She sat on her crate, indian style, not caring how young it made her look, "Parents are pretty stupid though. They can never do anything right. I don't think my crews ever made it to Japan, they liked to stick to England and Ireland. We sailed all the way to Australia once, but there was just dirt. I thought it was a pretty place though, not that you can admit that to bunch of pirates." She felt that if Fable would give her his life story, she could at least bring up her last crew, but she wouldn't bring up her family. She realized, he hadn't brought them up much either, just about their death. She sighed, people don't become pirates with a good back story.
