┌──────────────────────────────────────┐ ҉ ... One, I get the feeling that it's two against one.. ҉ Azrael Nanabantai Taichō ҉ ... One, I'm already fighting me, so what's another one?.. ҉ └──────────────────────────────────────┘ Azrael appears at his predestined location through a shunpo. The area was thick in a forest, and light was fading. He held his shikomizue style zanpakutō in his hand. He grabs it by the handle and lays his other hand over it, using the sword as a prop. Azrael looked off in to the sky and thought on the reason he was here...
--- Many Years Earlier ---
Azrael looks up to the old man from the dirt. The man stares back down and holds out a hand, helping him back to his feet. Azrael brushes the dirt off and charges the old man, quickly being forced back down once again to the dirt. "Gah, do you ever tire of pushing me down, old man?" Azrael grumbles from the ground as he pushes his own self to his feet this time. The man looks at him and smirks, "Don't you ever tire of me pushing you down? No. You don't. I can see it in your eyes.. you won't stop until you get what you're told done. When you become a Shinigami, your ambition will help you.. but will also be what shall break you. You will realize you cannot always win, and then.... you bre-" Azrael waves the words off quickly, "You're wrong, Father! I won't break if I cannot win. I will just continue to fight. I may not win, but that doesn't mean I will give up the hope that I can continue to protect and serve.. You will see, when I become a Taichō, and have a powerful Bankai... you will see, that I don't have to worry if I win or lose. I will fight, I will win and lose, and I will do as my duties ask of me.." The old man chuckles, and Azrael goes at him again. The man goes to flip him on his back again, but this time, Azrael twist around and puts the old man on his back.
--- Present ---
Azrael sets the shikomizue against his stomach, pulling the coat around him off slowly. The plates on his shoulder were heavy, but gave him training throughout the day. Although not being the most muscular, he definitely had a defined body. He pulls his kosode down so that his upper body is free to have the air flow over it. Hopefully this Hibiki fellow will be of more use than other, as he also shares a Wind type zanpakutō. A whisper comes through the air, "Azrael.. when you fight with me, remember that this training could result in you hurting him." Azrael chuckles a bit, "Oh, true.. I just hope I don't end up really hurting the guy, to be honest!" He smiles and lays the his black coat over a large branch. He turns and awaits the arrival of Hibiki.
Once he had learned his Bankai he would finally be the full-fledged Captain of the Seventh Division. He had awaited the day to become a Shinigami, and now only so little after, the opportunity for him to achieve so much. It was a dream for him to be this far. A figure in full black lands next to him and bows their head, "Father, we have prepared for everything. What shall I tell Grandmother Natsuko?" Azrael returns to his former stance, "Tell her I shall meet her for tea in my office soon enough.." The Shokuchoku nods quickly and disappears off in to the forest again. He now continues his wait, wondering if the Captain might ask who was just here if he saw one of his houses' own personal guards; the Shokuchoku, Night Guard. Quick, agile, and silent were how they moved. They had been faithful servants that kept their house safe from thugs or vandals over the years. Sometimes a bit robotic, as they seemed to process things in an overly logical manner, rather than "Hm, blankity-blank could be the truth." Their loyalty was profound, and their efficiency in the guardianship of the House of Meibatsu was well-known among their district. || OOC : ||

Hibiki Kirisho - Squad Nine Captain - ================================================ The gods trembled The demons flockedPanting, the silhouette of Captain Hibiki raced through the forest, disturbing the otherwise tranquil environment. Dashing through the grass and using shunpo to leap from one tree to another, the man moved swiftly covering several meters in a second, but still it could not change the fact that he was late ”Oh bother…” the Captain spoke under his breath, landing on a branch only to immediately disappear afterwards and reappear on the ground, continuing his momentum by then going off in a sprint. A few minutes earlier, he had nearly forgotten about his training session with Azrael. This was not without cause though, as a handful of his staff had reported that they had acquired evidences regarding a rather controversial and scandalous topic involving members of the lower noble houses buying and selling hollows to be used as personal bodyguards… or worse, as pets.
In the end the reports, however, were forwarded by Hibiki to another division which would deal with the suspicions before him and his staff could go in. Given his godlike speed at handwriting, it didn’t take him long to file in the necessary paper works, however it took him long enough to be late ”Captain Azrael!” he yelled as he entered the clearing, nearly tripping over on his own feet as he exited from a shunpo. Wiping the sweat off his brow, Hibiki took in a deep breath to ease himself up before walking over towards Azrael ”My apologies, Captain. There were some unexpected complications back at the office, it’s been resolved but I didn’t expect it to take as long as it did.” spoke Hibiki, bowing towards Azrael as he spoke ”I hope I haven’t kept you waiting for too long, it’d be embarrassing if I did.”The winds were unleashed ================================================

┌──────────────────────────────────────┐ ҉ ... One, I get the feeling that it's two against one.. ҉ Azrael Nanabantai Taichō ҉ ... One, I'm already fighting me, so what's another one?.. ҉ └──────────────────────────────────────┘ He sensed the Captain closing in and turned to meet him as his name was called. He was late, but not too late, as Azrael arrived only but a few minutes before-hand. Azrael nodded to Hibiki after the apology, "It's alright, Captain.. I wasn't the earliest bird, either." He picks the sword up and holds it in both of his hands. He stands up tall and breathes in, "So, how will we go about this? I've never really sparred with another Captain.. first time going against another's zanpakutō." He drew the sword from its sheath and places his hand at the tip of the blade. He pushes the sword in to his hand, disappearing as it does so, "Boufuu, Shuushi." Once his hands meet, the palms come together and a golden light shines over him. His cuffs form over his forearms, and the chain wraps itself around him. Azrael lowers his hands to his side and looked to the fellow Captain. A gust of wind that had come during his release slowly dies off.
"I'm sorry if my immediate response of Shikai makes you think weak of me.. I simply am just not good with using my blade, and if I want to train my hardest, then Shikai will prove to be a good beginning... if we prolong this enough, maybe I will go against your Bankai. If you will it, Hibiki," he says as he takes off his glasses and tosses them aside. He smiles at Hibiki and waits for his move. The forest around them was now beginning to reach the peak of darkness. Azrael takes his stance, taking one arm back and holding the other towards Hibiki. He could not waste time with his training. Formalities could come after, when they were beaten to Hell and would go and buy some tea or sake together to drink on a job well-done. If Hibiki had released or not, Azrael had begun the training by speeding forward towards Hibiki. Azrael pulls his right arm back and leaps up, coming back down at Hibiki to slam his first down on him. || OOC : ||

Hibiki Kirisho - Squad Nine Captain - ================================================ The gods trembled The demons flockedHibiki nodded apologetically to Azrael as he spoke, still feeling a bit embarrassed ”Is that so?” replied the Captain, a bit surprised at Azrael’s claim. Usually Captains and Lieutenants have already sparred with one another using either Shikai or Bankai, to hone their techniques and of course to maintain their fighting level ”That’s odd, well at least it’ll be a new experience for you then.” added Hibiki, grinning a bit. Noticing the Captain drawing his sword, Hibiki drew his as well, expecting that the two of them would fight with their sealed zanpakutos for a bit to get a feel for the others fighting style.
Thus he was surprised when Azrael muttered what was clearly his command phrase and assumed his Shikai form. Raising an eyebrow at his apology, Hibiki couldn’t help but chuckle ”Perish the thought.” commented Hibiki as he twirled his blade in his hand ”Cut, Kazeoni.” he uttered, causing a powerful eruption of wind to cloak the sword, replacing it with a exceedingly large shuriken once it had cleared ”Well the point of this training is for you to reach your Bankai, correct? It’d be an insult to you if I didn’t use my own Bankai to reach that goal.” picking up on his fellow Captain’s movements, Hibiki raised the shuriken to meet Azrael’s attack, causing its center to collide with his attack. Feeling the force behind the attack, Hibiki grunted as he attempted to parry it, before coming at Azrael with a counter-attack of his own. His Mokinrui gauntlets were already equipped, and using its default Nosuri mode the Captain sent a quick hook towards Azrael’s ribs. The winds were unleashed ================================================

┌──────────────────────────────────────┐ ҉ ... One, I get the feeling that it's two against one.. ҉ Azrael Nanabantai Taichō ҉ ... One, I'm already fighting me, so what's another one?.. ҉ └──────────────────────────────────────┘ Azrael was not surprised at the speed of his block, but the gauntlet would prove to be less than a thrill. The jab would throw him back. Azrael catches himself on his feet and skids a couple meters, already moving back towards Hibiki. Azrael had learned to take large amounts of pain without backing down. If the attack was able to actually break a rib, he probably wouldn't feel it 'til after the fight. He stops and looks Hibiki over for a moment before circling around him. The forest around them was rather silent at this hour.
Azrael stops quickly a few feet away from his original post, pulling his arms back, and aims his fist forward. "Do it as I told you," would come a voice to Azrael as he spoke, "Chouonsoku." The speed at which he launches himself forward rips up dirt, grass, and leaves that are spread about. As he gets close to Hibiki he would aim both his fist towards the Captain; his aim was for his gut. The speed at which Chouonsoku launched him at was quick enough to seem as if he was but a few inches, instead of twenty or so feet from Hibiki. The gold from his gauntlets were like a streak of light, and the chains made a small rattle at he reached Hibiki. || OOC : ||

Hibiki Kirisho - Squad Nine Captain - ================================================ The gods trembled The demons flockedMoving Kazeoni to the side like a shield, Hibiki glanced at Azrael as the fellow Captain was thrown back by his attack. Hibiki felt Mokinrui impact on his abdomen, near the ribs, but it didn’t seem to show ”A lightning bruiser, great.” muttered the Captain to himself, the term being a word he picked up during his stay in the Human World. It referred to an individual that could not only move fast but also strike hard while still retaining durability, and from his short exchange with him the journalist Captain couldn’t think of a better word to describe Azrael. But he wasn’t about to admit that the Captain was superior to him.
Trying to keep up with Azrael’s pace as best as he could, Hibiki’s falcon eyes worked to keep him within his line of sight as he began to circle around him. Noticing his sudden change in movement, Hibiki brought Kazeoni closer to him as he dislodged the excess steel covering Mokinrui’s default form. Strength certainly wasn’t going to win him this battle, so he would have to go for maneuverability. Pushing down on the gauntlet’s fingers with his thigh Hibiki activated its Hagewashi mode, causing serrated blades to emerge on the armament’s fingertips. Just then, Azrael launched himself towards him in a powerful burst of wind, ripping apart the terrain on his way. Hibiki’s eyes, having been honed to keep up with such sonic speeds immediately went into high alert and the Captain once more had to rely on Kazeoni as a defensive zanpakuto rather than as an offensive one.
Once more, the sound of steel clashed as Azrael impacted on Kazeoni’s center. However, this time it was clear that Azrael had the advantage. Initially, Hibiki planned to parry Azrael to his side before striking at him with Hagewashi, but given the Captain’s speed and power he risked having his arm broken, or worse. Instead he opted for a more brutish alternative ”Hado #58: Tenran!” he roared, skipping the incantation as he believed his affinity to the kido spell would be enough to empower it.The winds were unleashed ================================================

┌──────────────────────────────────────┐ ҉ ... One, I get the feeling that it's two against one.. ҉ Azrael Nanabantai Taichō ҉ ... One, I'm already fighting me, so what's another one?.. ҉ └──────────────────────────────────────┘ This Captain seemed to be struggling to block his attack. Azrael could could by his absence of parry or a counter-attack on this attack. Hibiki must be a bit weaker in strength than he had thought, but each had their own areas of training. He liked this more, fighting a man that didn't rely on strength, as it would teach him how to fight against all types of opponents as time goes on. The ability was a simple that, putting air beneath his feet to allow him to launch forward at incredible speeds, but it seemed to work if he ever wanted to close the proximity. Azrael had noticed a small difference on the man's gauntlet. The Kidō came at a surprise. He didn't think about the man using any type of Kidō's, which was quite ignorant of Azrael.
Azrael jumped back as the twister roared at him, trying to get back far enough and long enough to speak his own words. "Tenrai!" was shouted out as a wind cut through the Tenran; dissipating as it reached the end. The ability roared like a freight train next to one's ear. He connects his knuckles, "Let's go for it.. Gyakufuu." A small orb of wind swirls together at his knuckles. Azrael dashes forward, his arms at the ready to send a jab at Hibiki. As he got close to Hibiki, he would shunpo in to the sky, aiming a knuckle down at Hibiki. A little ball launches off towards Hibiki. Whether it hit the ground or Hibiki, the ball would explode with the force capable of destroying a brick wall in a decent area. || OOC : ||

Hibiki Kirisho - Squad Nine Captain - ================================================ The gods trembled The demons flockedStruggling to get a view through the Tenran, Hibiki peeked a bit out of his impromptu shield as Azrael momentarily retreated. Hibiki was satisfied to know that his kido spell was strong enough to resist the Captain’s charge attack, even if he did skip the incantation. Such a sense of satisfaction, however, was immediately lost when Azrael unleashed yet another powerful wind-based attack, a blade of sorts composed of wind that tore right through Hibiki’s Tenran spell. The two ferocious wind torrents cancelled each other out, but Azrael’s created a deafening roar as it dissipated, staggering Hibiki a bit back while at the same muffling all nearby sounds.
Resetting his eyes back to Azrael, Hibiki caught sight of him preparing another one of devastating attacks. Steadying himself for another assault, Hibiki braced for impact as Azrael sped towards him. But at the last second, the Captain relocated himself with a shunpo, placing himself above Hibiki. Caught off-guard, Hibiki extended his arm upwards to meet the incoming projectiles ”Bakudo #37: Tsuriboshi!” with that Hibiki summoned a net-like kido spell, catching the incoming orb and protecting Hibiki from immediate impact. But Hibiki was well aware that it would take only seconds for the attack to punch through. He add to move quickly and go into the offense before he ran out of defensive maneuvers ”Go, Tsume!” he yelled as he threw Kazeoni. It didn’t matter where he aimed the shuriken, curving around the kido spell, the large projectile quickly zeroed in on Azrael and headed straight towards him ”Bakudo #39: Enkosen!” with Azrael taken care of Hibiki quickly refocused on the veritable bomb mere inches from him, erecting a barrier was the best he could do before the sphere finally exploded while still cradled by the kido net. The explosion took out a decent chunk of earth, and sent Hibiki flying.
Landing, or rather crashing a few feet away from the blast, the Captain performed a quick scan and breathed a sigh of relief to know that nothing was broken. Although he had a few bruises and the arm he used to summon the shield was quite sore. The winds were unleashed ================================================
