Clearly the Hatchling was searching for something, but what was he searching for in His? Did he wish for a compliment, or for one who shared his nature more closely? Laith barely moved herself as she watched the last of the dragonets, hoping he would find His and be fed soon. He had to be starving by this point.

Internal monologue rolling nonstop despite his verbal silence, those calculating eyes swept once more across the Candidates before he stretched out his wings and rose, tail dragging on the sand for a short while as he began to move. He utterly ignored everyone else, not even reacting to anyone who hesitated to move out of his way or the one foolish soul that reached out.
His endurance was minimal at best and he was painfully aware of his handicap, his mouth moving as if rumbling but no sound coming out. The black paused head hanging and chest heaving from the exertion. This was it, he knew his body wouldn't make it any further.
So he sat down. And lifted his gaze to the ceiling, looking thoughtful.

Well the black wasn't as blatently dramatic as his brother had been but he was a stage performer nonetheless, Allaxon thought he was going to explode from the anticipation. It appeared as though the little black had reached his limit, he sat down and ... stared at the ceiling? Was he going to go between? Was his soulmate not among the candidates? Allaxon bit his lip again. He could do nothing and that rankled him.

That looked bad. She knew from lessons that Atypical dragons were weaker, but the first black and had moved along well enough. This one was different. He didn't even make any noise, didn't move for long at all before he gave up on moving entirely, sitting in the sand and looking up. Was that why he hadn't moved at first, because he knew he wouldn't make it far? Was he going to be alright? He wasn't going to give up completely and go between, was he?
Nawa waited with bated breath to see what became of the tiny hatchling.

Lena was not sure this hatchling was going to make it, to be quite honest. Atypical endurance was certainly not the best, and his chest was already heaving from the effort of beginning to move. She was not sure if it was for better or worse that he sat instead, gazing...above? The hour was late, and the stars were out in full glory outside, no doubt, though all one could see in here with the ceiling was the slowly dimming glows lighting the sands. Did he have time to spare in contemplation? All she hoped was that the lack of attention to the candidates meant he already knew who was His, not that he'd been unable to find a mind to match.

S'kor was curious to see the attitude of the black. He quickly impressed to Zerivon. That just left one left. He watched intently. What would be the color of this one? Oh another black, and a tiny one too. He hoped it would make a quick choice as it looked to be tiring fast.
Optheli smiled at the pair of pretty blacks. She wished the first one the best of luck, and silently encouraged the second one to find His. Reassurance from Dynith made the girl send feelings of love to her dragon.

Lifth did not put too much stock into the hatching in general, but even he tensed a bit as the young dragonet paused, eyes tinged with worry. It was the last dragon of the batch... but he was clearly also the weakest. Would he survive long enough to get to His? It would be rather tragic otherwise, losing such a clearly intelligent dragon. Not as intelligent as himself, of course, but it would still be a shame.

Inhaling deeply, the black shook his shoulders and lay down in the sand as if accepting fate. But he would not do it alone. He'd found His among the boys, was no longer set to wander alone and overwhelmed. When his mind touched Ruven's it was a swirling storm of cutting, razor sharp wit that greeted the boy with a warmth and want that was hidden beneath his cold exterior. His gaze shifted to the boy, finding him despite the press of bodies and he chirruped for the first time - a mature, rich sound despite his being so young. This was a walking anomally, the sort of dragon it was dangerous and exceedingly easy to underestimate. Ruvenmine, Your Hellath requires your assisstance. The rest of these sheep believe Yours is going to die but we all will at some point. The content sound he warbled as he lowered his head, fully expecting His to come and pick him up, Abigail let out a sigh of relief, her shoulders relaxing as she clapped her hands together. "Well! Another successful Hatching Trine! Thank-you very much for coming. Congratulations to our new Weyrlings! You have the night to rest and refresh, tomorrow will be the Feast for you - please be on time and dressed well. To those of you who did not Impress, there is always the next clutch! Don't lose heart. You're valuable members of our Weyr regardless." She stepped back and waved at everyone, "Thank-you once again!"

Allaxon bowed to the Weyrwoman and Brakiath and left the hatching sands with poise, hope filling his heart, there would be another hatching and perhaps his would be in that one. Besides he could bug Lilias until then.

Mallan watched as the Gold egg hatched, then the egg that had been against hers hatched, at first it was difficult to see what color it was, surely a Bronze though from the size and placement of the egg against the Gold's but he was mistaken, a very large brown emerged from the egg goo. He watched as he joined his sister and walked over towards the girls, sighing as they went he seemed to shrink back a little in the bunch of boys. He was openmouthed in shock as he watched the antics of the Gold, and the fact that Brakiath actually had to put her foot down, literally, to prevent the little Gold from attacking that one girl, the one that had shouted at her. Then she Impressed and he breathed a sigh of relief for the girls, there could have been some serious damage there.
His eyes turned to the brown, now the only one out on the sands and it seemed to please the large creature, he played a little among the girls, maybe he was trying to cheer them up after the horror of the gold that had charged through them, Mallan didn't know but he smiled at the idea of it. Suddenly, as quickly as he had played among the girls, he turned and moved to the boys and Mallan couldn't help feeling hope rise in him again but he didn't move from his spot. his eyes followed as the Brown pushed roughly past some, nudging others, he got bumped once or twice as the brown happily through them, it seemed as if the dragonet wanted to greet every boy there, but all it caused was hopes dashed, everytime he moved near Mallan hoped he would get that feeling they had told him would happen when Impression happened, but there was nothing then there... the brown halted looking towards Mallan's direction but there were so many boys gathered around him Mallan was sure that the brown was looking at someone else. He was surprised then to see that the Brown moved out, away from the gathered lads and back towards the eggs, spreading his wings and bugling.
Mallanmine! Come to your Asoth, I am hungry!
Mallan was aware at first of a hunger that clenched his stomach almost painfully, the next he had realised that the brown was staring right at him, their eyes were locked and the words that had been spoken in his head registered to him, he cried out a little and shoved his way past some of the boys around him, running towards the big, beautiful Brown, his Asoth .. "Asoth...... im here" he said as he reached the brown, falling to his knees and wrapping his arms around that big, sticky goo covered neck "Oh Asoth" he whispered, rising to his feet, wiping his eyes with his sleeve he led the Brown towards the feeding tables.
Mallan, look, everyone is watching us said Asoth proudly, pulling his wings slowly close, making a show of it, he stepped alongside Mallan, I am hungry, let's eat and that way we can go say hello to everyone else Mallan nodded slowly as he reached the tables, Asoth decided to stick his nose in the biggest pot holding the meat chunks. "Asoth"" exclaimed Mallan, pulling the dragon's head out of the pot and grabbed a bowl, "you have to eat properly or you might choke" he said, leaving out the thought - and leave me all alone - he had been told often enough that dragons could hear almost every thought a rider had and that was one he tried his hardest to hold back from Asoth. Alright Mine... i'm supposed to chew right? replied a slightly less exuberant Asoth, though it was very slight. He DID chew slower though, his eyes darting from person to person, chirruping in between mouthfuls to whoever would listen.

The final hatchling caused him a terrible amount of anxiety. When the tiny black finally Impressed he breathed a sigh of relief, though his body felt heavy and numb. Another clutch come and gone. Though the hatching seemed to last forever, now that it was over it seemed as if it happened all too fast. With the Red Sun looming this loss felt more bitter than the ones before. What could he do now? There had to be something....

Sure enough, two Blacks emerged from the mutation eggs and Gauden was able to watch them go with a minimum of disappointment. He had known they wouldn't be for him, simply made sense, anyway. When the Weyrwoman announced the Hatching complete, invited them to the Feast, and then encouraged them all not to give up hope, Gauden's eyes immediately went to the Stands in an attempt to find his father, but so many people were up and moving now it looked like it would be nearly impossible.
With a stoic face, Gauden turned and followed the rest of the unChosen Candidates off of the Sands, knowing that if he just went back to the Barracks, sooner or later his father would find him with the intention of taking him home. It was going to be a very tense conversation.
