x Was this the start? x Reflection of past events It's so depressing. Grandmother keeps asking when I'm going to find a girlfriend. She wants me to make her cute grand babies, because she doesn't think Nalin and his wife ever will. I mean, first off, I go to an all boy's school. After school it's work at her store and homework, dinner, sleep, then back to school. When do I have time to meet a girl? Secondly, and she'd probably kill me to know this, I really just don't like girls. I mean... I really don't like girls.
Back in the days of cooties, my brother got married to a rich girl he met in college. My brother's 11 years older then me, see. So I didn't really understand what the big deal was with this girl. She seemed nice enough. Her family founded, owned, and ran a major banking cooperation. They were, as mother said, 'well breed' people. I'd met her a few times before the wedding when my brother had her over to visit our parents. This girl, Mayaumi, was always telling me she had a sister who was just about my age, and hoped we would get along. I really didn't need girls to play with back then. They'd all want to play dolls or dress up or something.
I didn't actually meet this sister until the wedding. Mayaumi's parents had insisted on the ceremony on their family's estate. I never knew a house could have been so confusing. So when my brother had asked me to find our dad, I was on my own in this huge, strange house. Though dad had been just outside, talking with some of the guests. At least he hadn't been hard to find. Apparently, Nalin had left his cufflinks somewhere or something. Dad handed me his and sent me back to Nalin.
I just couldn't find the room he was supposed to be in! There had to be 1000 doors and they all looked the same. I just knew his room faced a window. But so did about 50 other rooms. So I picked one! I thought it was his room.
Nope.
When I opened the door, I was confronted with a very naked Chisato Saionji; Maya's little sister. She's a year older then I am, but... I was 9 at the time, so let's face it. I had no idea what I was staring at. Then she screamed at me. The next thing I knew, Chisato had grabbed a gun from the wall and tore after me, chasing me down the hall shouting about how I was a fiend and a cad or something like that. We caused quite a commotion and Maya's mother accused me of trying to ruin the wedding. I was the one being chased by a psycho b***h with a shotgun! I guess that soured my view on girls. But they were never that interesting.
Of course, I don't think I could ever tell my grandmother any of this. If I told her I'd seen a girl naked, she would insist I marry her to protect her honor or virtue or something. I can't even tell her I find other males interesting. She had the news on while I was sweeping up the store, and they had a feature about the gay rights movement. She asked my dad what that was, because her English is sub par at best. After dad explained it, she honestly had to ask what good it was to be gay. She didn't understand that it was a matter of love, and not about procreation. I have a feeling that if the news keeps talking about gay rights, she's going to pressure me even more to find a girlfriend.
