Questionable Shapeshifter

It always frustrated so many young seekers here are told no Wicca till you're 18 because of the SEX. Sexual initiation, sexual rituals, sexual religion, so go be in the spiritual wasteland until you're grown up. It annoyed me because some of these kids are not just looking for the cool religion or to piss off mommy and daddy. Some of them actually have developed a need for a spiritual aspect 2 their lives despite there young age. I thought it was terrable 2 tell them, no sorry spirituality is just 4 adults.
But I had something else occur 2 me yesterday and I honestly don't know if I have a legit concern or if I'm just looking 4 a reason 2 be upset w/ a bunch of jerks who have ticked me off. Members as young as 13 R allowed here and hearing all this. It seems 2 me that hearing all this Wicca = sex talk is just priming them 2 fall victem 2 a *****. There is not a teenager alive that would say, well I'll jus have 2 B patient and wait. They would B ripe 4 the picking of anyone that approached them and offered 2 "train" or "initiate" them.
I am waffling on whether oe not this is an issue that should be beought to Gaia's attention. Please vote in the poll so that I can get an idea of how "the general public" feels on the matter.

Well, since wicca really does not equal sex, I would personally instead thy to enlighten them about that. Yes, sure, some covens, groups and/or practitioners might use sex for rituals, but in my experience that is pretty rare, and even so usually only between people who are in a relationship. Sure, not everyone, but hey, each to their own. As far as I know, sex isn't even remoteley a necessary part of (ok almost) any pagan tradition in such a manner that it cannot be replaced by something symbolic. (Using an athame and cup seems to be the most common of symbolic replacements I've heard of.)
Then again, I'm no expert, so if you feel that I'm wrong, say so. I won't argue.

This is why traditions that utilize sex for initiation or ritual won't allow minors to become initiated. I think that they're still allowed to "seek" though. Being that they're allowed to learn all the stuff they need to learn in order to be initiated. It probably just depends on the tradition.
As to kids seeking out predators: That's what parents are for. If anything, kids should be aware that anyone willing to break a major law and take advantage of them sexually is probably not in it for the faith.
Overall, I don't think there's anything that Gaia can really do about it. If you think that someone is encouraging minors to have sex with adults then report it. Otherwise I don't think there's an issue.

by Gaian standards, there's really not much they can do...so to speak.
but as someone has already said, if you think someone is encouraging a minor to have sex against better judgement than it's your duty to report them.

We could always make a counter-thread, and give us our side of the story. I doubt gaia can remove their thread, but maybe if we give 'em our facts, we'll at least be able to bring respect back to those who claim to be solitary wiccans on Gaia.
