Chuckling softly, Annika finally gave in and silently started to move around from her hiding spot, crouching low as she did so and moving to the sound of her daughter's voice.
Coming closer she stayed there in plain sight for her daughter. "That's silly, love. I'm right here behind you." Her daughter definitely needed alot of training but more than that, she would need it not only from her but from others her age.
A thought struck her as she pondered it. Perhaps it was time for them to move on from this place and make that trip back to her pack lands. Yes, that would be best for Irmuska to be with others in her pack around her age and knowing her heritage.

Irmuska giggled and whirled around as her mother spoke. She nuzzled the soft fur of her mother. "I got ya!" Her tail wagged happily. She loved spending time with her mother and playing. The pup then wiggled around and between Annika's legs. "What do you want to do now?"

Annika smiled and nuzzled her daughter back. "Yes, my dear, you got me." The mother wolf watched her daughter, sitting up. "Sweetheart, what would you say if we took a trip back to my pack? You can see your Uncle and meet other little pups your age, making friends...." The she wolf didn't want to pull Irmuska from her father but if she wanted to see him when the pup was old enough they could take a trip to find the two black wolves but Annika wanted her daughter to grow up part of Einherjar.

The pup stopped and looked bewildered up at her mother. "Home?" She was baffled why her mother would ask that. Their pack wasn't that far away. Irmuska giggled, "but I already have met my unkew mama." She was thinking of her father's brother. "I play all the time with my friends." Her brow wrinkled with how confused she was.

Annika chuckled and shook her head. "No sweetheart, your uncle who is my brother. Not your father's brother." The she wolf nuzzled her daughter's fur and layed down before her. "To go to my pack. You can meet more pups your age and see my brother. You can do so much there and learn so much while there." Especially when her heart urged her to take Irmuska to head back. It was that same urge that brought her here that was telling her to go home. "You can see your father when ever you wish once your old enough but...I think it's time we go to my home, our home among the Einherjar pack." Irmuska could learn about her lineage while there seeing as it will be her legacy one day.

Irmuska felt her eyes go wide and her mouth popped open. Her mother had a brother?!?!? When Annika laid down, she immediately pounced on her. "You never told me! Why not? I'd love to make new friends, but I'd miss my old ones too." Her front legs draped over her mother's body as her back legs remained standing on their own.
"E-in-her-jar." The pup slowly sounded out the unfamiliar word. "My other home! When are we going mama? Is father coming too? How long will it take to get there? What's your brother like?" She gasped and her eyes went round again. "What's his name?!"

Blinking some and giving a soft grunt at her Irmuska pouncing on her, Annika lifted her head to look at the little rolly polly pup. "Well to answer all your questions, we can leave tomorrow when your well rested, no your father isn't coming, it might take a while but I know we can make it and my brother is..."
The she wolf thought back on her brother. A smile rose as she nuzzled Irmuska's fur. "My brother is a great brother. You'll like him and no doubt he'll like you...No he'll love you as much as I do. His name is Niflheim." Yes, her brother would like his little niece just like the rest of the pack would and Irmuska would love everyone in return. Maybe one day she would become a Valkyrie. Now that would be something...

The pup nestled comfortingly against her mother's soft belly. She was surprisingly at ease about the up coming trip. It would be an adventure. "I'll have to say farewell to all my friends here mama. He's not? Hmmmmm, we'll have to say bye to him too. And you promise I can come back and visit when I get bigger?" She would like to see her family and friends here now and then too.
She giggled, "Niflheim! Can I call him Niffie?" Her blue eyes turned to look happily at Annika. "I'll play lots with him, and you can too." Her ears perked up as she remember the last game. "I'll find both of you!" A cheerful, bubbling laugh escaped.

Blinking some at the nickname for her brother, Annika laughed thinking the look her brother might have if Irmuska did call him Niffie. That would be too hilarious to bear, truly! "I think you'll have to ask him about that dear and perhaps you can find him, he's easy to find but never me." She winked, looking at her with amusement.
"We can say good bye to them now if you like and once your big enough you can come for a visit. I'll come with you since it would be nice to get away once in a while." Perhaps she did have a soft spot for the two black wolves but...No, her heart was in Einherjar pack and in Irmuska. Maybe later on in life there would be a chance for love but at the moment she wanted to raise her pup to know that she can see her great father whenever she pleased.
(Would you like me to ask Vistada to play the father in the farewell? Or imply that the goodbyes were said and done with and that they started out to the pack?)

Gustav moved from his Beta perch, moving towards the two calmly. It was in him to be calm. A good father even if Annika had no romance with him he had a large room for her in his heart; a respect he would give no other. Moving to nose his old friend his dark body looked to Irmuska. "You must remind yourself to call him Uncle Niffie." He winked. "Your uncle is large and towering. Almost an exact opposite of your mother. A darker wolf. Mind you your mother has not seen her brother in many moons." He admitted and smiled to Irmuska cunningly.
"I am happy to see that you are excited to go to the Einherjar sweety. Soon enough you will learn of the lores that will be taught to you by your Uncle and.. our cousins." He thought of the white sisters.
Gustav lowered his mawl to lick his daughter on the cheak. "You both best to be going. It's not a long trek but long enough to make a young pup get sick of walking." He smiled. "Be a good wolf for me." He then towered over the other mountain wolf that was his dear friend. A smile to her. "I hope to see you someday again Annika. And I hope you find a place in your heart for more pups." His tail swished, "you are a fine mother."

Annika looked up as Gustav moved towards them and spoke to his daughter for the last time in her puphood but no doubt never the last time in her life. It was fitting to see the family of three together with the next generation carrying on both of their bloodlines. Inwardly, it made Annika weep that Irmuska would have to wait until she was an adult to see her father rather than have this luxury of being around Gustav and his brother like a normal pack.
Alas, the world around them had to move on and so did they otherwise it all would have been for naught. Annika smiled up at Gustav when he mentioned her, playfully swiping a paw at him. Perhaps....Perhaps there was a really big soft spot for Gustav, a great respect for this male that encompasses all respect for others that might ever come across her path. One thing was for sure, no other male could be as special as him in her mind. Yeah, Annika did have a big soft spot for the male and was in denial, maybe in denial to keep this farewell less sad. For the sake of the pup at least.
Sitting up with her head lifted up like a proud member of Einherjar pack the female nodded to Gustav. "I hope to see you again as well, Gustav. If only for a visit to see how you fare and to present to you Irmuska as a proud adult." The she wolf looked at their daughter with pride. "If I could have more pups like her, I would be fortunate indeed." Yes, it would be a blessing to have another pup, if not more than one the next time around. "Of course if I do come back, it would have to be for you and nothing else." After all, the only male who has left a paw print in her life was him and no other could.
Standing up she nudged her daughter gently. "Come along love." Annika smiled at Gustav. "You have been a great father and a great friend. Never forget you have a place in our hearts for all time." This was something that she meant with all the emotion she could give to someone as strong as Gustav. "But your right, it is time for us to go to our home in Einherjar." 'If only you could come with us Gustav.' She thought silently to herself and watched her daughter.

Irmuska heard the familiar voice of her father and turned her head to look at him. She gave the large, dark wolf a happy pup grin. "Papa!" Pushing off her mother, the pup bounded over to the male and gave him her best puppy grrrrr. She bumped ineffectively against the larger wolf.
"Right I will!" Irmuska giggled. "Really bigger than mama? As big as you?" She thought for a moment. "I'll try to spot him first when we get there. I want to make more friends, and hear more of mama's tales." Another laugh escaped her as she was licked; she reached a paw up affectionately to bat at his nose. "I'll miss you papa, and I won't complain no matter how sick of walking I am." The pup gave her father a long affectionate nuzzle.
Reluctantly she moved out of the way for her mother to bid her fairwells too. Sitting and waiting politely, she puffed her chest out when her mother said she'd be a proud adult. Anything to make her parents pleased with her; Irmuska looked forward to the day when she could see Gustav again. The young pup put her paws over her eyes, just in case her parents wanted a moment alone.
When her mother bid her come, she jumped to her feet ready to go. "Yes mama! Bye father, I'll miss you!" Her yips of excitement rang out as she scampered after Annika.

Annika had started to walk away, wanting to give her daughter and father a moment to themselves since she never had that from her father. Hearing Irmuska coming towards her, she looked down at her pup with a small smile. "I promise you can see him again alright? But for now, let us go see our family pack."
Yes, now they were truly on their way to an adventure through the wooden area that will either hold surprises or dangers, perhaps both but it would be a great experience for her little one. Giving a look back to where they stayed as their temporary home she shook her head. Annika will come back one day and when that day came it would be a glorious reunion. For now though, this end has started a new beginning...
