Onos: Yup. It was a b***h and a half. But I got my foam finger.

Vei: I know how to counter them all. I just fail. xP
I open with a 15hatch 14pool standard.

if you're gonna hatch first maybe try out 14 hatch instead, i think it actually makes a big difference when it comes to holding off fast rushes...

i hate 14hatch tho X) i only hatch first on Tal Darim and zvz

Please please please if its Z v P dont ever go hatch before spawn. Lots of people get greedy and i just pylon off their ramp and cannon the bottom of it, forcing either a cancel on the hatch in which i chase their drone through the entire map not letting them expand or they keep the hatch and loose 300 minerals while all this is gong on i go for a forge expand. Always lings before hatch.

oh yeah def never hatch before pool vs protoss.

I wont even expand against Protoss until I have a healthy number of roaches to pressure with, but I honestly feel like unless you can open some serious pressure really early on against Protoss with Zerg and do a lot of damage to get an early head lead, you can't win.

In an evenly matched game of ZvP protoss always seems to win, I can't beat protoss unless I'm already so far ahead in food, base and tech because of those damned collosus.

might be because you're expanding too late, try making 2-3 sets of lings and then expanding at 20-21, then using lings for map control/scouting proxies/scouting his ramp. also make 0-3 spines depending on .. how risky you want to be.

Well does it actually matter if you expand later so long as it's before the protoss do? Because normally, I'll take a slower nat against protoss but then follow up with a faster 3rd base around the same time they begin to take their nat.

But I will try using lings and expanding a bit earlier if I can against protoss.

It does, similar to ZvT, ZvP is about being one base ahead. If you're matching bases you're not taking advantage of zerg's "strength" of being able to pull ahead in bases/economy than the other races. On top of that, if you're making units AND expanding at the "same time" as the P, your economy is already behind because unlike T/P zerg can't make workers and an army at the same time really.

Are your expansions spread out too far apart?

Use some well placed cannons to slow down, or soften the mutas, pull probes when need be, use observers to see where the mutas are coming from and try to trap them with blink stalkers.

Scout earlier, if you see him going for mutas, ie; spire you know what to expect, then as the mutas come out just do like every other protoss does, and push out with a stalker 3+ collosi death squad, he'll either need to pull back his own forces and lose, base race and lose, or let you stomp over his whole base and lose.

If he has too many mutalisks, it's because you're not being aggressive enough.

you're protoss it seems? have you experimented with phoenix micro? if you get a small handful of phoenix out before the muta ball gets too large, you can reliably outmicro mutas because phoenox both a) outrange b) out-damage and c) out-speed mutas.

try it out in a custom with a friend to understand how it works if you don't already, then do it in ladder if you scout/suspect spire.

a strong read for spire would be:
- 2-4 geysers mining
- still on speedlings
- little to no roaches or hydras or banelings (aka gas is being pooled for mutas)
- lair starting while on only spawning pool
