Valkyrie Leah Cain SpecialAgentLeah My band director handed us some new sheet music, and he was telling us the story behind it. It was The Inferno, part of the Divine Comedy. So he was telling us about how the Inferno was about Hell. I'm the oboist, so I had the beginning solo. Once I was finished trying to sight read that, he said "That's what I call Hell!" Not exactly magical, though. not exactly magic lol more in the category of downright hilarious... i have to ask was it so bad it was hell or so good it was hell? So bad. Oh, it was absolutely terrible.

I wasn't confident so it was pretty humiliating, now it's pretty funny.

Alright Magic Moment.
Two years ago our Marching Show was entitled "Color! Sound! Motion!" and one of our songs was Over the Rainbow right? So we go to this competition and we're all down because our audience at the football game didn't appreciate our show and the performance despite having great overall effects. So we're playing and playing getting great growd response and we get to this build up at the end for the finale and it builds up and builds up and then our music just all stops and we go into this MASSIVE company front and after 8 counts of total silence we just BELT out Over the Rainbow with this huge form. At that exact moment, a rainbow came out over the stadium and butterflies flew out from behind the stands. No lie, that was the most crowd response we've EVER gotten. I was trying so hard not to smile because it was freaking awesome.

I guess I'm going to repeat the theme of victories, but it's my best "magical" moment.
My band used to be really good. One of the best, if not the best, in our class. Then we lost our director.
We did okay with our new director. Things were looking up. Then we lost that director.
Fast forward to this year, my senior year. New director.. well, he hasn't been the best. Myself (drum major), the other DM, and a few seniors/dedicated juniors pretty much took over. We weren't doing as well, so we just tried to have fun. Last competition of the season we seniors realized our performance wasn't very good (i left the field in tears), and we decided it's ok that we didn't win because we had fun all season working together. Awards start and we're not doing so well. Then the announcer gets to 2nd runner up, 1st runner up, runner up.. we didn't get called. Then the band director of the hosting band looked over at us and said, "you've got this!" And the accouncer called Grand Champion. It was us.
I had never heard a band scream so loud in my life. It was amazing! I feel like you should see some pictures to see how crazy it really was for us haha.
seniors while awards were being called seniors after we were handed the trophy the whole band screaming, crying, hugging, etc..
A band our size winning GC is exciting and MAGICAL!

we were playing Yorshire Ballad and the music was in the middle of a crescendo, when bam! the music peaked and held this beautiful tone and mixed amazingly together... it's so hard to explain, our BD then commented afterwards, "That is what we call a natural high from beauty in life. That is why music is my drug!" We all laughed, bes moment ever!
